Question about village reservation at CBR

Hi there!

I have a question about room reservations at Caribbean Beach Resort, and am looking for advice and answers from "those in the know."

This February, I'll be returing to WDW for the first time in 20 years --- too much of a long time away. I'm new to the whole trip planning thing, but have been trying to learn some tips on these boards.

Last month, I made reservations for my husband and I to stay at CBR. We took a room with a king bed, but didn't make any other preferences.

As I've been reading about the resort more in depth, I'd kinda like to stay at the Jamaica village (especially 45 or 42). And that leads me to some questions. Is it too late to make a village request? And, since I reserved at a regular room rate instead of a water view room, will I have to pay more for staying in 45 or 42? And, since I'm in a king room, are those limited to only certain villages?

I've also read that CBR takes in the cheerleaders, etc., in February. Are they placed in a certain village together, or are they spread throughout?

I know it's stuff that I wished I had looked into before I made the reservation. For some reason, I guess I just assumed that I could make those preferences known through online check-in, and probably that assumption is wrong. Plus, there was just so much other stuff to research that it got lost in the suffle.

Any advice or answers would be very helpful to this newbie!

Thanks!

You can make your requests anytime between now and up to 3-4 days prior to your arrival date. And if you don't like your room location while you're at the check-in desk, you can always ask if something else is available.

CBR is our favorite moderate resort and Jamaica 45 is our favorite building!:thumbsup2

Enjoy!:cool1:

We stayed at CBR in Feb 2011 and the cheerleaders were there in full force. It is part of the reason why we didn't care for CBR, because for some reason the management there didn't think they needed to do anything about entire squads doing their routines at 2 am....grrrrr....:furious:

I took a squad to Nationals for 10 years in a row. We stayed at CBR twice. Both times the squads were confined to one area. If it is a Varsity event I can promise you those girls will stop practicing (we typically use parking lots) at 10pm sharp. We are very very careful about this.

However, I will not deny that those girls make their presence known - mainly in the food court. They are loud and teenager-like. I love those girls and he sport, but I wouldn't want that to be part of my family vacation either.

You can call to make the building request at any time up until a few days before arrival. Or you can wait and request on arrival (but possibly less chance of being accommodated). Or after arrival you can make a request to change if you don't like where they place you - whether or not they can move you will depend on availability at that point.

Not all rooms can view the water, so if you have a standard room they would put you in a standard-view room - slight chance of a free upgrade on view but don't expect it.

As to king rooms, I believe they are spread out across the property. However, you might want to decide which is the bigger preference - king room or the building, and make sure that is the preference noted first. It's possible they could accommodate the building but not in a king, therefore you might be placed elsewhere if a king room is your top preference. I don't believe king rooms are guaranteed unless you have specifically booked an accessible room.

Enjoy your vacation.

The king rooms are spread all over the resort.
The king bed room is a paid upgrade from a standard in the moderate resorts. So is water view. If you have paid for a king room then you can request a water view and/or a particular building. They just can't guarantee that you will get them. I actually like the standard courtyard view- they're beautifully landscaped. I'd much rather have the location over the view in a moderate resort.

Thank you everyone!

When I booked through Disney, the CM told me that the only option I had available at that time was king bed. That's ok with me, but my preference now is for a second floor in Jamaica, maybe 42. I appreciate knowing how I should make my preferences in order.

If cheerleaders are there, they usually are in Jamaica and Aruba primarily! The main Varsity event for February this year is Feb. 7th to the 10th.

Because you booked King room, you can also request to be in the Preferred areas, Martinique and Trinidad North because as the other poster said, you have already paid the additional cost and there are King beds in both areas.
