Your ULTIMATE SURVIVAL GUIDE to Disney World at Christmas Time! UPDATE x2 10/21

Chapter 96: Back at the Frump Homeland
January 1st, 2012

We walked out of Japan and headed towards the international gateway. There were still two deluxe resorts that we didn’t get to visit yet – The Yacht Club and The Boardwalk. We had to see all of their Christmas Decorations before we left!

I was worried they were going to be down since some of the Epcot décor was gone already (on January 1st!) but everything was thankfully still in tact! Perfect!

We started at the Yacht Club and I got super nostalgic. That frump trip in January 2011 has such a special place in my heart because it really was a monumental point in my life. It got me back into my Disney groove and helped me make my way on disboards. That trip set up a lifestyle of Disney loving and Disney writing, and it all started at the YaCHt Club. Plus, I got to go to Disney with two of my best friends and stay at a deluxe resort for my high school graduation present. It was when the frump phenomenon truly began. It was just… AHH. I can’t even. I loved it. That was an absolutely amazing trip that I will never forget. It's the one that started it all!

dsc02663qq.jpg

I walked into the Yacht Club and we looked all around at the beautiful decorations. They were awesome. The whole of that place is so elegant, relaxed, and classy. You could even say business professional... but on the leisurely/nautical side. I love it. AHH I JUST WANNA STAY THERE AGAIN.

We had to actually get our boarding passes printed for our flight the next day at 2:20, but it was about 2:08 when we arrived so we had some time to look around.

We looked and we found the AMAZING Christmas Village display. Oh my gosh it was SO CUTE!

dsc02753cw.jpg

They had little signs for like Cape May and different Yacht and Beach Club amenities.

dsc02873jz.jpg

There were those little Mickey Village statues in there, too! It was awesome. The whole thing was just so beautiful and very extravagant.

dsc02853z.jpg

dsc02863lw.jpg

Mom went to get our boarding passes printed at the concierge, and I chilled out on the couch and absorbed the atmosphere. It was just so great to be back. I hope to God I get to stay there again some day!

dsc02913xh.jpg

dsc02923h.jpg

dsc02953sl.jpg

Gotta love Disney rugs!

dsc02963w.jpg

We ended up getting like A-1 Business Select seats for our plane the next day, which is so cool! We didn’t even pay extra or anything. My Mother just was extremely punctual! Way to go!

Now that our flight was taken care of, time to take more pictures!

dsc02973y.jpg

dsc02993f.jpg

We made our way outside. When I went to Disney in May, I realized how much I really miss the poinsettias. They truly bring so much life to the parks and resorts because of their bright color.

dsc03003c.jpg

dsc03012bn.jpg

dsc03023ok.jpg

I LOVE YOU FRUMPS! <3 And the YaCHt Club!

dsc03063d.jpg

So once those were all set, we headed out and made our way to the Boardwalk. That was the next place we needed to see!

dsc03073sf.jpg

I really have not spent much time over at the Boardwalk but I really need to. It’s one of the few places in Disney that I have not thoroughly explored. I love how there are like little carnival games, entertainment, little shops, a bakery and restaurants and EVERYTHING! It’s just so cool.

dsc03103j.jpg

We went into the store to go look for a sweatshirt for Nana, but we didn’t find anything. However, I DID find Disney food pins. HOW PERFECT ARE THESE!? I want them so bad, but I didn't feel like dishing out the cash at this point.

dsc03083qc.jpg

Then we went up to the Lobby so we could see how Disney decorated the Boardwalk!

Chapter 97: Visiting the Boardwalk and Winding Things Down
January 1st, 2011

Welcome to the Boardwalk!

dsc03123j.jpg

We went up into the lobby and looked at the giant gingerbread house. It was made out of real gingerbread – I promise! I touched it and it was real.

dsc03183i.jpg

There was nobody inside of the Gingerbread house, so they probably weren’t selling stuff in there anymore. You could really feel the holiday season winding down fast that day.

dsc03203th.jpg

There was another little gingerbread Carousel-like display:

dsc03143v.jpg

dsc03333xs.jpg

Stitch was taking over the Boardwalk this holiday season!

dsc03153w.jpg

Here is the recipe:

dsc03163j.jpg

dsc03173oa.jpg

The little train that went around it was really cute. It had little ads on the cars for Boardwalk Bakery, Flying Fish, Kouzzina, etc.

dsc03323x.jpg

Some more classic Christmas decorations at the Boardwalk:

On our way out of the Boardwalk, I snapped a picture of Dad and Jonathan's favorite spot - the ESPN Club!

dsc03362lg.jpg

I'm not going to lie, while I was at the Boardwalk and going back to Epcot, I was a little crabby. I was just so sad that we were leaving. I was TRYING to make the best of everything, but having that thought of going home in the back of my mind was completely weighing me down.

I posted on twitter:
I'm trying really hard to enjoy every moment of today... But I literally am feeling depressed about leaving tomorrow ):

We walked back into Epcot. We got a water at the Yorkshire County Fish Shop.

I posted on twitter:
I just realized every bottle of Dasani water has 2.5 servings of water in it. I'm glad I drink like 5 of those bottles a day hahaha

Epcot was almost humorous because every single other day we were there, it looked like a 40 minute line to get fish and chips. We literally walked up and got a water with no wait. It was ridiculous how the crowds dropped like that.

We walked into future world and went into Mouse Gear to look for another sweatshirt for Nana. They just didn’t have much of anything! I was disappointed. They were seriously slacking on the sweatshirt designs this trip. Like, I’m pretty sure I either own them all or I don’t really like the designs. And the 2012 logo? It’s basically the 2011 again. I was disappointed.

However one thing never changes. I posted on twitter:
Mouse Gear smells so good.

Anyway... I took some pictures in front of these beautiful Mickey shaped flowers:

dsc03373l.jpg

dsc03383vg.jpg

dsc03393ce.jpg

So, we headed out of Mouse Gear and went to wait for the monorail.

img1297vw.jpg

After waiting for a while, a CM came out and asked if anyone was going to the Magic Kingdom or the Contemporary. He said that he would recommend either taking the express monorail or the ferry to the MK and walking because they were having major monorail troubles that could have resulted into a 25 minute delay. How inconvenient.

We got off the monorail and ran right over to the Ferry Boat. We took that, got to the Magic Kingdom, and walked back to the contemporary.

img1298lu.jpg

Then it was time to pack up. ): I wanted to go to the MK for extra magic hours so packing then was necessary. It was really sad though, I felt like I just arrived at Bay Lake! I turned on the TV and watched my best girl, Stacey for a while and got everything stuffed into my suitcase.

I posted on twitter:
Packing breaks my heart.

Mom and I went down to fill out a lost and found slip for my lost gray skirt, neon floral bathing suit, blue coverup, jean shorts, and braided belt. They went missing after my first December trip, so I just wanted to file a report. I never found any of it, sadly. A CM named David helped us out, and he was really nice. He said that he lost his hat in Disney and they never found it either. How sad.

Once I was finished with that, I took a power rest on my bed. Dad and Jon were watching football and I was just relaxing for a little bit. We had a dinner ADR at Grand Floridian Café, but nobody was hungry. So we cancelled it around 6:40.

However, I always have room for dessert! I posted on twitter:
I just remembered I have an entire tray of desserts in my fridge right now from the boat last night. I'm going to eat my sadness away <3 lol

While we were just chilling out in the room, the sun began setting. It honestly was probably one of the prettiest sunsets I have EVER seen. I took so many pictures.

dsc03473t.jpg

I posted on twitter:
I can't believe this is already the last sunset of the trip ):

don't be sad here I'll open my suitcase for ya ,jump in I'm only 4 days from leaving 3 if you count that I leave for Buffalo on Sunday, staying the night there before i head to MCo Monday morning bright n early

I totally understand that feeling! It's so depressing!

What beautiful pictures of your view, however!!

I love how detailed the Christmas decorations are at Disney. I mean, most places would just stick a train in a village scene and call it a day, but noooooo Disney puts in fake advertisements for their own restaurants and shops on the sides of the train cars! I'm a sucker for Christmas villages anyway, but the ones at Disney are always my favorites.

I want to see what you got your Nana! Nanas are hard to shop for at WDW. I always set out to get something for my Grandma because she loves Donald Duck, but other than a coffee mug, I've never found a good grandma-appropriate gift.

Endings are the worst. I'm never a happy camper when that moment of "It's the last whatever of the trip" hits me. That sunset is pretty, though!

Wow! Your trip is almost over. I love le cellier and the boardwalk area. It's fabulous!

I know! We still have a few updates to go though! I loved my last night so much so stay tuned! :goodvibes

Haha aww how lucky! I'm leaving in 14 days though so I will just have to stick it out a little longer. Gotta get that schoolwork done ;)
I hope you have a magical trip!

I must say i love all your trip reports :)
so thank you

Thank you so much! And you're welcome! :) Stay tuned for the ending! We still have a few posts to go!

I totally understand that feeling! It's so depressing!

I know. :( It was such an incredible trip, I didn't want it to end!

Why thank you!

I know really! They make it above and beyond perfect!

I honestly don't remember what we got her on this trip! :confused3 Usually we get her a Disney zip-up hoodie though! Or something Snow White and the 7 Dwarves because that's her favorite. I think we got her the salt and pepper shakers one time! And we got her a tea pot one year.. I think it was Winnie the Pooh. I don't know! There's lot of stuff :)

I know they really are. Thankfully we still have a few posts left so stay tuned!

The Epcot resorts are so pretty and the Christmas decoration make them 100000000x more beautiful.

Ohmygoodness, I LOVE the little Disney Christmas village.

The food pins are just awesome. Like, seriously.

I lost a pick a pearl ring at Epcot and never found it. I guess not many people have luck finding anything they lose at Disney!

Those sunset pictures are killing me right now. SO BEAUTIFUL <3

Jess I love your reports! What kind of camera do you have? You have some great shots :). I cannot wait to go to Disney at christmastime this year! Will you be going to the world soon? I'm thinking of doing trip report myself!

The Yacht Club's decorations are so pretty! Classy Christmas.

A MICKEY RICE KRISPY TREAT PIN!!?!!?!!! I'm not a pin collector, but I kind of need one of those. It says so much about who I am. :rotfl:

I feel like Stitch is such a random choice for the Boardwalk, but it's really cute.

I hate that "We're leaving tomorrow so I want to have the best day ever except I can't because I'm depressed because we're leaving tomorrow" feeling. That's the real Disney paradox, Jungle Cruise Skippers. ;)

I can't believe one of your best trip reports is almost done. Let me tell you, I learned a lot about WDW at Christmas time from reading your thing, and I'll keep your tips in mind when I go to Disney in December.

Again, a TRULY AMAZING trip report, and here's to many, many more!

Frumps forever,
Disneydude97

Awww Jess! I feel like crying for you. I know the exact feeling you're describing...wanting to enjoy your last moments, but being miserable because they are your last moments. I distinctly remember crying in the pool at CBR just hours before my plane took off, I was just so sad that I didn't know when I'd be back. Can't wait to hear about your last evening!

Awww Jess, I'm hanging in there for your last few updates. So sad to leave your happy place but you have some pretty awesome trips coming up!! Love, love, love the sunset view from BLT and overlooking the Seven Seas lagoon.

We returned a few weeks ago from staying at BW villas for 4 nites and now looking at the Christmas photos makes me really want to book a holiday trip. So lovely. But BLT is still my favorite resort so spending 8 nights there after BWV was perfect. :)

It's always so sad leaving WDW behind, but at least you have all those gorgeous pictures to remember the decorations and the incredible final sunset. This trip report has been full of detailed storytelling, rare tips for the holiday season, and amazing pics, and I can't wait to see how it ends. :goodvibes

Haha, I love that the Yacht Club is the "Frump Homeland". I recall you guys singing in bathrobes. Ca-lass-ic.

You missing the poinsettias is like me missing the Food and Wine booths when the festival is not going on. It just makes World Showcase all the more beautiful when it is packed with even more international foods. You'll see very soon!!!

I love how they have this pretty gingerbread house set up and then they have Stitch looking insane smack in the middle of it. Oh how I love that little blue alien!

Yeah, I totally feel you on being depressed the last day. You just can't have as much fun. As they say, the thrill is gone. But hey, it's still Disney.

Omg, that sunset. I'm sad. Don't end, epic Christmas trip!!! Thank God you go to Disney like twice a week so that I have more TRs to read, or else I would be depressed. You need to update the Frump trip report. Unless you already did, I need to go check. Oh well, even if you did... you still need to update AGAIN. hahaha

Another TSM ride adventure! Wow, you really did live it up this trip! I have to say, that little blue gate is heaven! We got through it every time on our last trip, saves so much time!!

UGH! Le Cellier! Ate there for the first time this past week, it seriously is the greatest meal I've ever had, the soup & pretzel bread just make everything so tasty! Yum!!

So sad that your trip is coming to a close, it's always the worst part of any trip, having to pack, knowing it's your last night/day there, booo

I agree!
Me too!
I know! I want them all.
Aww that's so sad! I know, if you lose something it's pretty much gone into the abyss.
Thank you! I'm glad you like them. :goodvibes

Jess I love your reports! What kind of camera do you have? You have some great shots :). I cannot wait to go to Disney at christmastime this year! Will you be going to the world soon? I'm thinking of doing trip report myself!

Thank you so much! I have a Nikon D3100 and I use iPhoto to enhance them ever further. Ahh you're going to have a magical trip! I am going to WDW in 11 days! You should do a trip report! They're time consuming but very fun! :)

The Yacht Club's decorations are so pretty! Classy Christmas.

Haha that's the perfect way to describe them!

YEAH YOU DO. Those things are your life. God, they just taste SO GOOD.

I agree  I have no idea why he was there. But I mean, whatever! Disney does what they want.

I know. It's so sad. At least I have a few more updates to go before we finish this thing off!

It really is! Yes, I look at these pictures all the time - they are some of the best I've ever taken and I love them. :lovestruc Aww thank you for the compliments! I'm so glad you have enjoyed the report! Thank you for being here!

Haha, I love that the Yacht Club is the "Frump Homeland". I recall you guys singing in bathrobes. Ca-lass-ic.

Ahh great times, great memories. I literally love that resort so much.

I AM SO EXCITED FOR FOOD AND WINE!!!!

Hahaha Stitch is such a frump!

I agree! You gotta enjoy every second... but being sad is inevitable!

I know! Haha I can't believe it's almost over! I am going to feel so empty once I complete it because it has been going on forever! Bahaha I know, good thing!

I'll update the frump trip report soon! Maybe next weekend. I unfortunately left my trip journal at my house so I don't have any notes.. but I'm going home next weekend! So as long as I finish all of my homework I will try to write one!

I love your sunset pics

Thank you!

How come no one waltzes the way Cinderella and the Prince do anymore?

I don't know. It's a dying art form.

Another TSM ride adventure! Wow, you really did live it up this trip! I have to say, that little blue gate is heaven! We got through it every time on our last trip, saves so much time!!

Ahhh I'm glad you loved it! I seriously am in love with that meal.

I know, it's so sad! At least I always know I'm going to go back! :goodvibes This trip will never be beat, though!
