Have you seen the Princesses Make-Overs?

Have you guys seen the princesses have gotten make-overs? Cinderella no longer has her "rolled" up-do, she now has a bun on top of her head and a stray curl over her left ear. They thinned out Ariel and made her look a little older and Belle has lost most of her up-do. Seems Disney wants to make them more modern, but they all look very generic now to me. :( They thinned out all their faces too. Cinderella in particular just looks like Barbie dressed up as Cinderella.

The old classics are - well - classic.

And the Aurora make-over..:crazy2:..
I think she's one of Disney's greatest. That movie is one of my all-time faves.

Apparently classic is not hip. The princesses in the parks are getting new dresses too. I hear Cinderella is first sometime in October. Word is it
is bigger and has more bling on it.

I noticed this a few months back when at a Disney outlet. They all look so similar now. I agree that Cinderella looks just like Barbie. Seems like a really drastic makeover. :crazy2:

I wish they would have put Mulan without make-up. The whole point was that she was a warrior.

*sigh*

And is it me, or is Jasmine's arm broken?

I get the whole "modernizing" thing, but now they do not look like they do in their movies. :worried:

I too hated the Aurora make over and I did notice that they have been thinning their faces for a while now.

So sad. I loved how Cinderella, especially, looked before...on the flip side of that, Pocahontas remains the same...Seriously, how hard is it to do new art for her?

Oh and look how they are trying to conceal any cleavage! Aurora and Rapunzel both have large locks of hair, Ariele has an odd purple thing, Pocahontas has a necklace thingy and the Belle and Cindy are demurely holding their hands or arms in front of their chests. Interesting ...

Every dress is sparkly. It's like Disney looked around and said "girls like sparkly. Make everything ridiculously sparkly. SPARKLY SPARKLY SPARKLY WILL SELL!!!" They will probably make a line of Disney glitter that is 50% more expensive than normal glitter, and call it PRINCESS glitter.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have noticed here and there in stores that the princesses have always looked different in cartoon form. If it's an expensive Disney piece, they look one way, but other items tend to look slightly different. I've noticed this several times over the past few years. I'm not sure if this is the case here or not, just thought it was worth mentioning.

It's not just the Princesses... anyone get a look at the Designer Villains dolls? Especially Ursula?

I can't look at them the same. Augh. I noticed Cinderella a while back, I thought it was odd that they had changed her hair and sparklified her dress, but I thought it was for the promotion of the DVD release and such. I never thought they would change them ALL.

I agree with the pp about Mulan. I absolutely can't stand the way she looks now, she's supposed to be a warrior. And what is going on with Aurora's bangs? I always liked that part of her. How much will the characters change in the parks? :sad1:

Is it sad that I'm irritated and horrified about the change?

Yes, I liked the Mother Gothel one, however that is a designer line Disney created to sell in their stores. It looks like they're actually making changes to the Princess's now. I wonder if it will back fire or sell because they do not match with their movie counter parts.

Ursula just creeps me out all the way around the board, I think it her face... or maybe its the tentacles. :crazy2:

The doll makes it worse. *shivers Do you see that face????

Just noticed this on Disney Shopping:

Her face doesn't look right to me let alone the hair. :sad2:

I saw a promo for the upcoming Disney Junior movie "Sophie the First" and noticed that the "new version" of Cinderella makes appearance.

I know! She looks like someone dressed up as Cinderella. :confused3

I noticed that as well. I wonder if my daughter will notice...

Thinking back to the designer villains dolls, because those are meant to be more for adults, one would have to consider artistic license with the representation of the characters. Disney probably wanted them to appear slightly different - chic or en vogue, dare I say - because they are just that: "designer" dolls for adults.
