"UnOfficial" May 2013 planning thread. It's never to early to start planning!

Hey All! Did any of you apply for the Disney Moms Panel this morning? I did....hoping the fourth time will be the charm for me.

Good Luck!!

I'm ineligible b/c my DH works in the travel industry but I think it would be pretty fun!

We will be staying April 29- May 7 2013 at Marriott's Cypress Harbour. It will be me, DH, DD9, and DD8. It will be our daughters first time flying, visiting Florida, Disney World, and IOA!!! We haven't told them yet:)

Hoping for great weather and short lines.

First of all let me appologize for not being around for awhile. I just got a new job and I have been busy trying to market myself. If anyone is intrested in looking at my fan page on Facebook send me a PM and I will send you the link.:) Talking about Facebook, for all of you new to the page don't forget to come over and check us out on Facebook. The link is on the first post of the thread.:thumbsup2

We're in! A group of 6 (me, DH, 2 DD's, DMother and D MIL) staying at AoA starting May 4th.
Right now I'm not having the hardest time waiting...I have football (War Eagle!) Halloween, our trip to the Smokies, Thanksgiving, Christmas to look forward to.

But once January rolls around and not much is going on I know I'll really start to get anxious!!!
Welcome to the thread RyMacJ. How exciting to stay at the new resort. Do you know what section you are staying at? It's nice to have so many things to occupy are time, but I think I will be like you and start stressing about my plans once January rolls around.:goodvibes
I added you to the list, though if you want me to include your leaving date you will need to let me know.:thumbsup2

Add me in for May 25-31 at POP :woohoo:

Welcome to the thread fallen_angel727. I add you to the list.:thumbsup2

May 2013 cant come fast enough!

We are staying at the little mermaid rooms at AoA May 13-May 20. Celebrating our twins 4th birthday! This is our first trip (both hubby and I have done days in the park as kids) Having lots of fun planning! Currently we for ADR's we are thinking Cinderellas Table (have a 4 year old princess who MUST go to this).
Other then that still figuring out what ADR's we are going to want to book. :cloud9:

Welcome exitedtwimmama. How excited to spend your first trip at WDW celebrating your twins birthday. Please feel to ask any questions you might have. Have you looked into having lunch or dinner at the new Restaurant Be Our Guest. I have seen pictures of it and it looks gourgous.
Added you to the list.:thumbsup2

I guess I can officially be added to the "unofficial" May 2013 planners! I just changed my reservations from September 2013 to May. We will go Memorial Day week. My daughter's school is getting more strict about unexcused absences and I will respect their policy. So we changed our vacation dates. Right now we are at AoA (Little Mermaid) but if there is a decent discount we will stay at POR or POFQ. Is there somewhere I can plug in our dates to see when we can start making ADR's?

Welcome Disneylvr. I am so sorry you had to change your September dates (such a great time to go) but I am glad that we get to benifit from that change. I know what you mean about school. I would love to take my kids out of school to see the christmas lights at WDW but I don't want to take the kids out of school and refuse to deal with Christmas break crowds. :lmao:
I will gladly ad you to the list on post 2 if you let me know what your dates are, but it looks like we will be there just about the same time.:thumbsup2

We'll be staying at POFQ May 22-27, 2013!
Welcome to the thread RobertLC. We will be staying at POFQ as well and since we are getting down there on the 26th we might just run into each other.
Just added ou to the list.:thumbsup2

Just booked our trip for May 11-18, 2013 at POR! Can't wait!:goodvibes
Welcome Disneymaddness. POR is a lovely resort. Just added you to the list.:thumbsup2

We are making reservations this week for May 4th - May 11th! We are staying at POP. Please add me to your list. I will let you know of ADR when we finalize them. Be nice to see if anyone has reservations the same time! THANKS!!!!
Welcom the group Grandmaof2. Just added you to the list.:thumbsup2

I am so excited for this trip! I can't wait to spend Mother's Day in Epcot!!

Welcome StuffedwFluff. I would love to add you to the list on post 2 if you would share your dates.:thumbsup2

Welcome Bnb0627. Sounds like you have a busy week planned. Plus it is a suprise? How exciting. Just added you to the list.:thumbsup2

Wow this looks like a great group.

I think we've planned our Dream Trippixiedust: (even though DSs don't know yet;)). We arrive on the 27 of April and are staying 6 nights at BWV (renting points) and then on to a 7 night Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy and then one night post cruise at AKV (again rented points).

Looking forward to counting down with everyone!

We are now strongly considering going the last week of May/Memorial Day week (May 25-June 1). We don't have anything booked yet because we are trying to decide between this week and the third week of August. I am hoping that the summer crowds won't be in full force yet if we go the last week of May; but I am concerned that with the Memorial Day holiday, Gay Days, and Star Wars weekend all going on that week that crowds will be really high. We are hoping for moderate level crowds and hot (but not as humid and rainy) weather by going that week; plus it would be both a short week and the week before my kids' last week of school so they won't miss much. So I am trying to decide if this is a good week to go to WDW.

Your travel dates are almost the same as our's. We arrive on the 22nd and depart on June 1st. The majority of our trips have been taken during this same time frame. If you aren't interested in Star Wars Weekends, then I'd say avoid Hollywood Studios on the weekends. We've been to SWW and it was crowded! Gay Days didn't really effect the crowds all that much nor did we find that Memorial Day did. We usually stay away from the Magic Kingdom on the weekends and chose one of the other parks instead.

In addition to what mickeystoontown said, you can check the schedule for which park the Gay Days is scheduled for. Typically that park is a little more crowded, but we haven't found it that much more crowded. Memorial Day weekend is usually more crowded because of locals.

Here's the park days for Gay Days. The only real crowded day I think you'll notice is MK on Saturday. I'd do a different park that day if you are worried about crowds

Gay Days 2013
Thur. May 30th - Animal Kingdom
Fri. May 31st - Disney Hollywood Studios
Sat. June 1st - Magic Kingdom
Sun. June 2nd - Epcot

Thank you for this info. We will most likely just follow the easy wdw or touring plans recommended parks for each day with the exception of one day at HS for SWW as my DH is a big Star Wars fan :darth: So we will just have to deal with the heavy crowds on that particular day. We will probably arrive Memorial Day weekend so we will have to figure out a plan for the best parks for that weekend, although we are considering doing a day at Sea World or Legoland before starting our week at the Disney parks. Not sure yet. When we went to WDW during the third week of August last year, the crowd levels were moderate and reasonable IMO (mostly 6's all week). Would you consider the last week of May to be comparable to that? Also, what is the weather like at the end of May? I know it is very hot and I don't mind the heat, but a little less rain and humidity would be nice :) Thanks :thumbsup2

Seriously considering moving back to our original April dates. Crowds are predicted 5-6 all week and prices are a tad lower than our May week. I'm torn really because once I got used to the idea of going in May I was excited. Our oldest would have a birthday on this trip and I think it would be really special but it's going to come down to my DH. He has work commitments both weeks so he has to decide which one he can miss or reschedule.

I am going on May 26- June 1st so I really hope that you choose this date and we can run into each other. LOL. Have to checked out the Facebook page yet? I definatly recommend it. :thumbsup2

I promise to be back tomorrow and add the new people.:thumbsup2

Corrine, our end date is May 11th. We're staying in the Nemo section (I let my girls pick) :)

ok def sticking with May dates unless FD comes out for our April backup dates. I called using my husband's interline and priced out room only for 5/25-6/1
AoA LK Suite 7 nights
1550.50
POR only had Royal Rooms avail - 1060.44 and we'd need 2 rooms since we are 5
AKV-Kidani 1BR 2831.04 standard view or 3232.59 for Savannah view it's a tad cheaper to rent points but if I use this I get daily housekeeping and control the reservation myself.

part of me thinks we should do AoA since we'll be together, it's new, and DH and I could get a sep room. I'd really love AKV though for the kitchen since we'd have to pay for food OOP. Still playing with numbers

Corrine we should meet up somewhere since our dates overlap
