Emmysdaddy Joins the Damsels to Dine, Even with Princesses: Em started PDR see link

Jenna took our drink orders... I needed something cold that would require a paper straw that tastes like you are sucking on a paper towel tube:

Loved this...perfect description of the AK straws!!! :lmao:

Fried cream cheese wonton skewers with pineapple & honey vanilla drizzle and vanilla ice cream $7.99:

One other note of accomplishment… this meal checked off #5 from Jabead’s List of 18: Have some egg rolls at Yak & Yeti, but don’t forget to save room for the wonton dessert.
DSC02537.jpg

Two more points earned, one each for the egg rolls and the fried wontons. Total = 17 points
Oh, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the wonton dessert! :thumbsup2

Note: I may not be able to post an update until I return from my business conference Friday evening. I'm not abandoning this review I just have to suffer at the St. Regis Hotel in Monarch Bay for a few days. If anyone wants to hang out and lounge by the pool come see me and I will ditch my meetings in a minute!! :rotfl: Here's where I will be stuck until Friday. :goodvibes

I would so love to hang with you at the St. Regis Hotel, but I am off tomorrow to the Sofitel Hotel and Spa in Queenstown, New Zealand. I find myself badly in need of a body wrap of Manuka honey and warm volcanic mud! :p :rotfl:

Umm I was just wondering emmysmommy or jabead, any jobs openings available? :lmao:
We are gonna do Y&Y when we are there, my dad will be joining us that day and he loves Chinese/Asian foods and I. Must. Have. Wontons. :goodvibes
As long as the egg rolls are yummy, my dad should be happy!

I am so gutted that we missed out on our Yak & Yeti ADR  Everything looks lovely. Still, at least it's soemthing to save for next time...

Thankyou so much for the review of the Yak & Yeti, Brenda. I love how Michael orders all the fish dishes because that is what I usually order. I had my eye on the ahi tuna app and now I definitely want it! Those wontons will definitely be ordered as well!

Great Yak & Yeti review - those wontons are easily my favorite thing there, so I'm glad you liked them so much!

And have a great time at your conference! :goodvibes

I'm debating between Yak and Yeti or LTT for lunch next trip. We are a house divided about it and I am the swing vote.

Yak and Yeti does offer the 10% discount for AP holders. Not as good as the TIW but I'll take it.:goodvibes

Yak & Yeti, our favorite! Great review Brenda, and the comment about the paper towel tube made me smile. That's dead on! :lmao:

As much as I love Y&Y I'm just not a fan of those wontons, but they definitely look tempting in your picture. The tuna dishes look fantastic!

I'm debating between Yak and Yeti or LTT for lunch next trip. We are a house divided about it and I am the swing vote.

Oooh, nice! With those two choices there's really no way to go wrong. :thumbsup2

My DD and I went to Yak and Yeti last month because I had to try those wontons. We were sure they would be a let down as we have found many of the Dis beloved foods. I have to say these lived up to even bit of the reputation. I loved this desert and cream cheese is not a favorite of mine. Even my incredibly picky DD, who tried it to appease me, actually really liked it (although she wouldn't touch the fruit).

I really feel so bad about what you are about to endure. I wanted to offered to go for you. Those meetings can take such a toll on you and all the pampering afterwards is just cruel!

Hello St. Rege!:lovestruc

Ur paper straw thing reminded me of the orange pop @ AK. [soda to most of you;)] IDK if they still do, but it was orange FANTA & was served in a plastic AK cup w/ no straw. It was such a sweet treat to me. IDK why. It was super icy & cold in the super HOT AK. :cloud9:

Back to Y&Y: I'd want the SAME meal as you Brenda. Egg rolls & rice. :thumbsup2 It looks delish!!

We have an ADR at Y&Y and I'm still debating if we'll go the shared apps route or share the seafood curry dish. I understand having to have small meals more often, it's one of the reasons we shy away from the DDP. My stomach just couldn't take a full main dish (it can't even take a full app...) so there would be too much waste. And that's why I love Food & Wine - perfect serving size! :bitelip:

I am still playing catch up on your reviews but have just spotted where you are staying for you conference ...... Oh my word!!
I am green with envy!!
Excellent reviews as always, sounds like you had a really good meal at Y&Y
I am still bitter about my cold wonton experience there :(
Maybe I will give them another try some day :)

I am really looking forward to Y&Y in Dec...for one reason only...THOSE CREAM CHEESE WONTONS!!! I WILL NOT share those with anyone...mine, mine, mine!

Why did I just feel like some of the seagulls from Finding Nemo?? :rotfl:

I hate those darn paper straws at AK, but I totally understand the need for them...but still, they are quite yucky to use.

The business trip, I could totally handle a business trip if I were staying at a hotel like THAT!

Y&Y looks great. I love ahi tuna, both of those items on your table sound delicious. I always thought that I could get better Chinese food at local places, so I'm glad to see that they serve more than the standard sweet and sour chicken, etc.

And great job on your list. I'm impressed!

Definitely more than standard Chinese take out fare is served here. They have a Vietnamese/Chinese influence. Both DD and DH said the tuna dishes were great.

I credit Jabead with all the fun I had with the list but I'm glad to impress with my list accomplishments!:lmao:

Oh, poor you ... How will you ever make it til Friday in that place! :upsidedow

We, too, loved the wontons at Y&Y this trip. Didn't love them the first time we had them but I am thinking they may have been cold? I have an ADR in November for Andrew and I to go for just appetizers and that dessert. One of the very few ADRs I am making for our quick trip! :thumbsup2

Hi Vicki! Yeah, I survived that horrid place. Wine on the verandah facing the ocean, casino night on the lawn, white glove butler service, ..... Oh the torment! :rotfl2:

I can now say that I am a fried wonton lover too!! I can't imagine that they would be any good if they were not served warm. Glad to see that you will be back in November for those wontons!!

Wow your conference sounds so nice! I agree the paper straws at AK are gross to drink out of. Mine always gets so soggy towards the end :rotfl2: I am glad you enjoyed the dessert there, I agree that I don't always have a huge appetite and that too has happen to me at Yak and Yeti. I go for the seaood curry, and the dessert is a welcome bonus for me, even though I always struggle through eating one darn won ton!

Hi Lori! Several people have mentioned the seafood curry - it must be one of those dishes that they do really well.

Ha! That would be disappointing to get to dessert and be so full that you can only eat 1 wonton!

I'll be at Y&Y next month! I haven't even looked at apps or entrees! I just know I will be getting the wonton dessert!!

I do want to mention that I've read Y&Y offers a 10% AP discount??

I'm sorry you have to suffer at your business meeting lol. Can't wait for you to return and read more of your dining!!

Yay Paula, you will be there soon! Have you eaten there before? So funny that with all the menu choices you at least know how you are ending your meal!! :thumbsup2

You know, I don't think I even thought to ask about the AP discount but next time I will be sure to have that on the radar - thanks for sharing that great information!

Just read the whole thread! It was a fun way to start my day off work.

Love your photos and descriptions. You and your family are lovely to look at, and so is Mr. DDW. He has a smile that just won't quit.

I gotta go read Princess Betsey's reviews now. Thanks for posting!

Hi Jancie! Thanks for joining! Ahhhh thanks for the compliment - and I'm sure Mr. DDW appreciates that you noticed his bright and beautiful smile!! :rotfl2:

Betsy updated her thread in the last few days so you have some great stuff to read. :)

I've decided that my next trip to WDW needs to be really, really long to fit in all of the restaurants I want to fit in! Now that I'm looking at the Y&Y menu, there are quite a few things there that we would enjoy. Of course the main thing on my list would be the wontons!! I'm glad to hear that they were crisp and hot for you.

I hope you can suffer through your stay at the St. Regis to make it back to us! ;)

Tracy you are on the same page as me. I don't have too many ADRs when I plan to go, I have too few days!! You'll have to try Y&Y - perhaps when you go for your 10 miler next year. :goodvibes

[and yes, I suffered through just fine! :cool1:]

I'm so glad to see your review of Y&Y, that's on my contender list for our next trip!

You HAVE to try it. If nothing else it is a really cool place to dine even if you only have a light meal. I like how you put that - your "contender list.":)

Loved this...perfect description of the AK straws!!! :lmao:

Two more points earned, one each for the egg rolls and the fried wontons. Total = 17 points
Oh, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the wonton dessert! :thumbsup2

Barb you are SO funny! I think your manuka honey and warm volcanic mud body wrap are well deserved with all the Disney live dining ambassador work that you do around here!! :rotfl:

And you know me so well since your list only had the egg rolls and fried wontons - they were really all that I wanted going into the meal.

Hi there AvasMommy! You're cute! How awesome that you will dine at Y&Y. I think there are so many wonderful choices there that your dad will really enjoy it! And yes, YOU MUST HAVE WONTONS! ::yes::

I am so gutted that we missed out on our Yak & Yeti ADR  Everything looks lovely. Still, at least it's soemthing to save for next time...

Awww Joh, there is always next time. You already have something to look forward to. Is your Keys to the World going to have your entire trip review? I don't want to miss it. :p

Michael, Em and I have wonderful memories of our two meets! :goodvibes

Thankyou so much for the review of the Yak & Yeti, Brenda. I love how Michael orders all the fish dishes because that is what I usually order. I had my eye on the ahi tuna app and now I definitely want it! Those wontons will definitely be ordered as well!

Hi Rosey!! I missed your big send off! I hope you have a magical trip!!!

Even though I don't eat tuna, the food does look lovely! And yes, you must order those wontons! :)

Great Yak & Yeti review - those wontons are easily my favorite thing there, so I'm glad you liked them so much!

And have a great time at your conference! :goodvibes

Thanks Mr. DDW! They are the only thing at Y&Y that I MUST have. All the other food I had was good but those little beauties were awesome!

Yep, great time at the conference and now I have to make my own bed and no chocolates on my pillow at night!

I really did enjoy your tour of Philly dining favorites... it is interesting to have Disers insert some local flavors that thrill because you never know who will pop up in your neck of the woods and need a good dining recommendation. I hope you are having a great weekend!

I'm debating between Yak and Yeti or LTT for lunch next trip. We are a house divided about it and I am the swing vote.

Yak and Yeti does offer the 10% discount for AP holders. Not as good as the TIW but I'll take it.:goodvibes

Hi Rachel! Oh the pressure to be the deciding vote! Hmmm..... depending on my mood that could be tough to choose LTT over Y&Y unless it was dinner in which case I would likely choose Y&Y.

Now I know about the AP discount! pirate: Argh!

Oooh, nice! With those two choices there's really no way to go wrong. :thumbsup2

Becky you are another Y&Y lover! This place had been long overlooked or ignored by us for the longest time. I'm glad we finally tried it because now I'm like you and it is a favorite! Plus it helps to have a go-to TS place at AK.

You are NOT a fried wonton lover? Ok, I'll still like you even if we disagree on these and the tuna! :rotfl2:

My DD and I went to Yak and Yeti last month because I had to try those wontons. We were sure they would be a let down as we have found many of the Dis beloved foods. Hi SweetSpot! I'm glad the wontons didn't disappoint. I know how sometimes dishes are hyped up and then you try it and you shrug your shoulders and wonder why anyone was wild about it

Ha! Yes, the torment of luxury! :upsidedow

Hello St. Rege!:lovestruc

Hi Maura! Glad to know you have such a beautiful name.

I can imagine that any icy pop (yes, soda to me) would be refreshing on a hot AK day! I used to drink a lot of orange soda when I was younger and it still brings back good memories of a place that I worked where it was served.

Ahhh the egg rolls and rice - a very nice meal. But what about dessert? :rotfl:

Thanks for reading.

Once again, loving your reviews! :lovestruc

Mr. DDW is adorbs! (I'm several pages behind!)

Hi Ann! Thanks! You are so nice. And YES, DDW is adorbs! :)

BTW: My DH is from the Chicago suburbs.. but the SW area ?.. Aurora/Batavia area.

:bitelip:

Hi there!! Tough choice with the sharing versus the smaller apps. You are absolutely right about F&W portion size - it's perfect for either snacking or lumping several and calling it a meal. It wouldn't work for my DH, he'd only see it as snacking unless he hit up a minimum of 10 booths!

Hi Linda! Uhhh .. yeah... those wontons need to be warm. Please give them another try and then we'll see if you become a fan!

I am really looking forward to Y&Y in Dec...for one reason only...THOSE CREAM CHEESE WONTONS!!! I WILL NOT share those with anyone...mine, mine, mine!

Debra you are so funny - that definitely was a Finding Nemo moment. I completely understand about having those wontons all to yourself!!

My next business trip is Vegas likely at the LV Hilton; therefore, a completely different experience.

Great reviews and pics of yak and yeti. That is on my list for next year.

Hi Lisa! Thanks for reading. Glad to see Y&Y on your list next year. :thumbsup2 Good stuff I tell you.

Wolfgang Puck Express - DTD Dinner

DSC02730.jpg

It was about 5:45pm by the time we trekked from DisneyQuest on the West Side to WPE at the Marketplace. There was a short line at the counter to place orders which was a good thing because after seeing all of the choices on the menu board we had a hard time deciding what we wanted to eat. By “we”, I really mean Michael and Em. I had read several WPE reviews and knew exactly what would make me happy!

Menu options:
DSC02735.jpg

Em and I split the Four Cheese Pesto Pizza and Michael ordered the Traditional Margherita Pizza. We also chose a couple of desserts, crème brulee and the vanilla bean cheesecake. We filled our drinks at the self-serve beverage center and then grabbed a table. It is a nice touch that they deliver the food to your table and provide actual dinnerware and utensils rather than plastic/paper options for this quick service restaurant. The gentleman who was serving the food and checking in on the guests did an awesome job and was so helpful offering to get drink refills for us.

Obviously not the dinner rush yet...

The kitchen area:

As for the food; the four cheese pesto pizza was just as delicious as I anticipated. Em reminded me that we had ordered this pizza in Seattle last year – oh yeah….that’s why it tasted so familiar! Anyway, it was perfectly baked wood stone oven style. (The term wood stone confused me a bit!)

Four Cheese Pesto Pizza $12:

Michael enjoyed the margherita pizza just fine. No exclamations of joy emerged from his mouth but that could have been because he was busy chewing!

Margherita Pizza $11:

Whilst I was focused on the wonderful vanilla bean cheesecake Em dug into the crème brulee. I didn’t have an opportunity to taste the crème brulee but I can say that the cheesecake was awesome! It had a slightly crispy crème brulee layer on top which was the perfect texture juxtaposed to the creamy cheesecake layer. (I bet I’ve never used the words “whilst” [for our UK friends] or “juxtaposed” in my reviews – now I feel so prissy!)

Crème Brulee $6:

Vanilla Bean Cheesecake $5:

Even though TiW is not accepted at WPE, we received a 10% AP discount on our bill. The total was $40.92 with 2 soft drinks and 1 bottled water.

I definitely want to return and try some of the other menu options that looked oh so delicious like the bacon wrapped meatloaf and the mac & cheese.

Next Up: Captain's Grill

We have NOT been to Y&Y! We had an ADR there last time but hubby said he didn't want Asian food and we really were not that hungry. My cold was really getting to me that do so we left early to head back to the resort.

I also must try WPE! Everything there always looks so good! How come some days I feel like I'm making all the wrong choices for our meals?!? so many places I want to eat and only 14 days to do it in ! LOL!

WPE is oh so very good. One of our favorites for a quick lunch. I think we ate there at least 3 or 4 times our last trip! So easy to get to from OKW. I have still yet to try dessert there- even splitting a sandwich or salad I am always way to stuffed. Maybe I will put trying dessert before lunch there. :) Loving your pics and dining reviews and finding out about discounts (Didn't know WPE offered an AP discount... Great to know!)

It looks like your trip is going fantastically - I look forward to when my girls are older and Disney has a different, seemingly more relaxed vibe!
