wilderness lodge worth the price?

I booked POFQ for a 3 night stay in October for just DH and I. It's costing $500 with a pin code. I can book wilderness lodge for about $800. Would it be worth the upgrade? I see the benefit of a lot of the deluxes in terms of walking to epcot or using monorail...but what is the benefit of wilderness that makes it deluxe? i understand its gorgeous, but what else? Is it easier to get to the parks? Are the busses better? is it closer?

You can take the boat to MK. Also I've read in other threads about people who thought they had a bad view (it was a dumpster). Then that night they realized they could see Wishes from their bed :).Maybe not such a bad view after all!

Taking the boat to Magic Kingdom and to the Contemporary Resort to access the monorail couldn't be easier - and adds to the magic. I find it to be just as convenient as the deluxe hotels that are on the monorail. I highly recommend it.

It beautiful, and peaceful, that's a reason to me! If you are going to spend all your time at the parks it is probably not worth it... The MK is available by bus or boat. People love the boat. Bus is quicker but the boat has more fairy dust. They have movies under the stars, a viewing of the electric boat parade. It is beautiful, if you intend to spend some time at the resort, it's worth it... Good luck deciding, let us know your choice.

IMHO, yes, it is worth it!!! It is such a peaceful, relaxing resort. A vacation within a vacation really. The boat to MK kingdom is nice, but I like the option to take buses to all four parks too. Plus, you have quick access to the monorail via the boat to CR.

We stayed on CL, and had a amazing view of Cinderella castle and Wishes! It is our favorite resort and we would pay that extra $300 every day of the week! :goodvibes

would it be quicker to take boat to contemporary and hop monorail to epcot...or just take bus from WL?

Also, would it be quicker to take bus from POFQ to epcot or the above situation?

Also, how does the bus situation compare to POFQ

It's probably quicker to use the bus to Epcot, and it really all depends on how long you have to wait for the bus or boat. We never had longer than a 15-20 minute wait for either, but most times the wait was less.

We've never stayed at POFQ, so someone else could probably help you with that.

Not quicker. But for us we were in the farthest room from the bus stop, kid you not 5th floor on the dockside. So we used the boat to go to the CR in the morning we could see when the boat was heading toward the dock & then use the stairs walk out the door to the dock:lmao: And then i would get a coffee at the CR coffee place walk out & catch a bus or go up and get on the monorail. I will say that is was only me & DH on that trip.

WL is just an awesome resort, I really enjoy everything in one building. If I didn't have a car I would choose WL. We found the busses at POFQ really crowded due the sharing with POR.

We had never stayed at WL until this last week and let me tell you, we will NEVER stay anywhere else. My DD4, who hates hotels and gets homesick VERY easily, cried when we left WL. We all fell in love with it for a countless number of reasons.... so much so that we are going back in 4 months and have already booked a room at the WL Villas. :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc
Wilderness Lodge was a big part of what made our trip perfect!

hmmm, now you have me all thinking maybe it would be worth the $100 more a night. i really hate the busses and waiting and being scooshed when Im tired and just want to sit and relax. lol So maybe WL would be a little bit better in that regard?

It is a gorgeous hotel. It is convenient w the boats to MK and we would take the boat to MK or CR and take monorail to EPCOT. We love the pool and the hotel has so much personality. Good luck w your choice.

Transportation worked wonderfully when we stayed at the Lodge in June. Being so close to the MK is a big advantage with easy access to the monorail resorts and restaurants. A really nice feature of the Lodge is that it's all in one building. No need to pull out your poncho if it's raining and you want to do a mug run.

That said, POFQ is a lovely resort for 2 adults. It's compact and easy to get around, and also beautifully landscaped. Buses are quick and plentiful, and you have the boat to Downtown. The $300 you save will buy you 2 or 3 nice dinners.

But either way you'll be happy. :) I've stayed at both resorts and loved them.

For us, the extra cost is definitely worth it :). As others have said, the WL is a gorgeous resort and it's great having the boat to MK as well as to the CR where you can hop on the monorail to shop, dine, or just visit the Poly and GF. We have stayed at the WL three times and had great experiences all three times with both the boat and bus transportation. The rooms are also a little bigger than those at the mods and it's nice having everything under one roof, with the lobby being a great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere :cloud9:. Good luck deciding, but if it were me, I'd go with the WL :wizard:.

We just returned from 10 days at WL and absolutely loved it. Going this time of year we had very low crowds, which was great, but overall we just love the resort. Being all under one roof is really nice, and makes it stand out compared to the Values, Moderates, or even the Poly. We also really enjoyed Roaring Forks, which is WL's quick service restaurant. While far smaller than other resort food courts, the food was exceptional and they had quite a bit of variety and did a great job on old favorites. I do contend it was the best Cheeseburger I had all week, and there were many others. :) WL is just such a beautiful place to be that we loved coming back there every time. The lobby still takes my breath away and leaves me reaching for my camera every time.

On this trip we spent quite a bit of time visiting other resorts, and checked out the Contemporary, Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Poly, Port Orleans Reiverside, Coronado Springs, Pop Century, and Art of Animation, and we were very happy with our choice to stay at WL.

Wilderness lodge is my favorite deluxe resort. Beautiful resort, wonderful atmosphere and just a boat ride away from MK. IMHO the upgrade is well worth it. Enjoy your trip!

I think Wilderness Lodge is great, too. Our kids are going to love it when we go in January. We're really looking forward to the stream the flows directly into the pool.

Simply love the WL. DD was 5 at the time of our visit and the convenience of the boat was awesome. We were never in a rush so the bus worked just as well. It was especially great the night we had reservations at Chef Mickey's at Contemporary and didn't have to rush there as well.

We love the WL, simply for the fact of the quick boat rode to MK. Is a nice resort, quiet with great pools and restaurants! Definitely worth the money. We just booked our trip back to stay there for our daughters 5th in June. :) have a great trip!

We just stayed at the WL a few weeks ago and loved it. Loved that it is so close to the MK. We took the boat and bus there and both were super quick. I know we probably had really good transportation luck but all of our boat and bus rides were quick with minimal wait. There are lots of good dining choices at WL and loved that it is all under one roof. Also we are balcony people which all rooms at WL have. Great way to relax after a long day in the parks.

I just wanted to update on my own question: yes, it was worth the price!! We stayed at WL for 3 nights in October and it was awesome! i am in love with it now. It was so relaxing and the boat was great. I am so happy I upgraded.
