It's great to know that you are here as well. I am hoping to post a trip update pretty soon.

They just had a report on the news how travel is going to be very expensive.. but they said that is also a sign that the economy is improving... more people are traveling...

Even though the economy is improving I am still not a fan of overly expensive airfare.
It really is starting to become outragous here.

I have the same issue! Multiple cameras, multiple cards! Crazy trying to remember how many pics there are- even today I had an, " oh yea" moment when I was updating and realized i was missing some pics- but now they have all been uploaded to the pc, so fingers crossed i'm ok at last!

And then imagine HOW many pics we have after 4 weeks. It took me nearly all evening yesterday to get mine sorted, now to work on the ones we took with the water camera and then on to Tom's - who takes about twice as many pics as I do.

Flight time from Frankfurt to Orlando is 9 hours and 40 minutes, but this is only part 2 of our flights, we need to take another hour long flight to get to Frankfurt.
Travel days are long and tiring.

Yes Karin, we will be down from Tuesday-Sunday for F&W and MNSSHP. Love both of these things. Our favorite time of year at WDW!

Wow! Another vacation soon, we may go to Gatlinburg in Oct, but not sure. We will be staying in Florida for the month of March!

We fell in love with AKL, so relaxing & beautiful. I need to get my pictures sorted & downloaded then will start a TR.

We both felt we needed another vacation, to get over the Post Disney Depression.
Italy is just a 5 hour drive and they are already in low season, so it should be nice and quiet.
Lucky girl, getting to stay in Florida in March - I envy you!!!!!!!!

AKL is beautiful, isn't it? We are loving it there too and are discussing to maybe spend a few nights there next summer.

We will with out a doubt see you during your February trip. We will have to make definite plans before you arrive in Florida. I am praying that we will win the lottery so we can join your cruises next August if not we are going to try and plan on a cruise Feb 2014 for Angelina's sweet sixteen!! You guys will HAVE TOO cruise on that cruise. When is you break in February?
Everyone hear is OK. Vito Jr will be turning 17 on Thursday. Vito Sr is having major issues with our business so it is a very stressful time but we will get through it!!!!

I cannot wait for our February meet! This is going to be so much fun!
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you to win the lottery, so we could do ALL our cruises together. Seeing the smiles on Angelina's face surely made our trip extra special.
Half term for us is always President's week. I wish we would do alternate weeks so we could get away and have lower crowds, but nope .... always President's week.

Sorry you had a stressful week back, I know how that feels. We were back a few days and Scott's car was hit while he was parked by his friends house. I'm glad you have 2 great Italy trips to look forward to.

I really hope that our trips will overlap. We had SO much fun meeting you this year - the only thing that would make it even better ...... if you bring Jeff along as well.

So sorry about Scott's car. I hope it can be repaired and that the insurance will pay for it. Thank god he wasn't hurt!

My closest friend is a Special Ed teacher and she works harder than any teacher I've ever known...she goes into the classroom as well as taking kids alone or in small groups. It must be quite a challenge to be the classroom teacher...especially teaching a new subject you didn't expect!

Enjoy the weekend...looking forward to hearing about each trip...and of course those fabulous photos of yours...which always tell a story.

Yes, month long vacations are heaven - getting back to real life is the absolute opposite.
But at least we came home with a whole new even longer vacation in the works.

Living so close to so many other countries, you don't really appreciate them all that much. For years we hadn't set foot into Italy. Then suddenly two years ago we decided to take a spur of the moment trip and fell in love with Italy again.
I promise to post short trip reports of both trips!

Christine, by day two after we had returned we were ready for another vacation and since Paris seemed to be so difficult to get to, this was the perfect "other" location to go to.

I am part of a teaching team too, Christine. Most of the time I have a "real" special needs teacher with me, who looks after those kids.
It is just that I am not used to teaching them and I really need to adjust HOW I do things.

I promise to take lots of photos of our weekend trip and I promise to post them too!

Okay, now, who is ready for the start of this ...........



Day 1, August 11

Let’s get this show on the road …….. or in the air - Part 1

I woke up around 6.30am, took a shower and got ready to leave. After I had checked if everything was unplugged and the water turned off I got my bag and headed out the door. On the way to Tom’s I stopped at a bakery and picked up some rolls, then headed to the butcher to get some fresh ham for breakfast. Shopping done I drove to Tom’s, where he was already waiting with freshly brewed tea. We sat down, had breakfast, then unplugged everything that we were able to and at around 9am I looked out the window.
We had ordered a taxi for 9.15 and it was already sitting outside our door. So I went down to the driver to let him know that we would still need a few more minutes, but would be down as soon as possible. A few minutes later we hauled our luggage down to the car, got in and after checking travel documents, money and passports one more time we were on our way to the airport. Even though it was a Saturday morning, we didn’t hit any traffic jams and within 20 minutes we arrived at the airport.
I had done online check in, so all we needed to do was dropping off our luggage and we were really lucky, as the luggage drop off was the only counter where there was NO line. Our two bags started their way to Orlando on a conveyor belt and Tom and I went over to security and got in line. It didn’t take long until it was our turn and we were through pretty quickly. We walked around the tiny duty free store and then headed over to our gate, when they started boarding.
Since our airport is tiny we just walked over to our plane.

We boarded, found our seats, settled in and waited for our departure. And soon it was time for our small plane to roll out onto the runway and off we went. Once we were up in the air

they quickly started handing out snacks, this time they were

Chocolate Filled Cookie Sandwiches. The other flight attendant started offering drinks right away too and soon we were sitting there, sipping

Diet Coke and munching our snack and before we knew it, it was time again to put away the tray as we were descending onto Frankfurt.

As always we were parked a long way away from the terminal

and had to transfer to a bus to take us there. The bus filled quickly and then we went on what I call the “unofficial airport tour”, as it usually takes more than 5 minutes to get you to terminal and you have a feeling they drive all around the airport before getting to the terminal.
Finally we had made it there, we got off, went to look for our next departure gate and were pleased to see that it was just a few gates down the terminal. We had about two hours, so we walked along all the gates, stopping at shops to have a look at things and just browse. We bought a bottle of Brandy for Ron, to give to him when we would visit the California Grill and then got ourselves some drinks,

some beer for Tom and a Diet Coke for me. We had used up the rest of the ham I had bought in the morning in rolls,

which we had taken along and now was the perfect time to consume them. We found a nice quiet table and enjoyed our food before we headed back to our departure gate. We got there and it was empty! Nothing on the overhead signs either.
So we rushed to the next departures screen and on the way there we found our gate. They had moved it down a few more gates and while we were still trying to find a seat to wait for departure they started boarding.
We were on the plane in just a few minutes, had found our seats and settled in.

After about half an hour it would have been time to push back and get going, but we kept sitting at the gate. More than 20 minutes after we should have taken off we finally got moving. Another 15 minutes later we were finally airborne

and on our way to Orlando. We both played around with the on board entertainment

for a while and soon we were greeted by the flight attendant handing out

small bags of Pretzels. Tom had

some beer to wash them down, while I had

still water. We munched the Pretzels and sipped our drinks and soon we were handed hot/cold towels to freshen up a bit before lunch. Soon, the lunch trays arrived and drinks were served.

Lunch consisted of a small portion of

Mixed Leaves, topped with radish sticks and

Buttermilk dressing. The salad was crisp and the dressing tasty and we both enjoyed it a lot, before moving on to entrees. Tom had chosen

Grilled Turkey Breast with roasted peppers and potatoes, while I had gone for the

Barganelli Arrabiata. Both were tasty and nice and we enjoyed them a lot. Next was a nice fresh

whole wheat roll, with butter and some still too young

Camembert, before we had dessert,

Cherry Streusel cake, which was really yummy. Once dinner was over and done with and Tom had enjoyed his digestive

Cognac, we both took some sleeping aid and Tom prepped his pad, we plugged in our earphones and watched some episodes of the Hotel Inspector.
