When do I need to present my AP when checking in?

I have read on these boards, but can't find it now, that you can sometimes (usually) present it the next day when you are staying on an AP rate. Just show them the green card certificate, if they ask, and tell them you will come back with the activated AP later.
I have the green card certificate and will need to go activate it.
I check in on Thursday. I have read I can go to a park, activate it, and enjoy my evening, and just show my AP the next day, Friday.
Is this still correct?

Has anyone done this recently?
And what happens if you don't go show them the activated AP until Sat, checkout day?
Since it is an AP rate, I will pay the balance at checkin. Will they charge rack rate if I don't have the activated AP?

Most of the time, Yes. They will give you some slack as you've already mentioned and from our experience, they sometimes they won't even ask for it at all.

Thanks elaw.
I am staying All Star Sports. Does that make a difference?
Do you think they are more strict at the values?
It is the TOT 10-miler, so I think the resort will be pretty full, as it is one of the race host resorts.

I am staying All Star Sports.

I have stayed at All-Star Sports over a dozen times using the Passholder rate and have NEVER been asked to produce my Annual Pass.:)

Just DON'T mention anything about that you are using an AP rate unless the CM brings it up.:)

How can you book and access AP rates without having a passholder #?

We will be getting APs in December and want to book a spring trip at the passholder rate.
