Big changes to WCC menus on Wednesday

1) The move is to streamline the offerings.
. . . improves the efficiency in the kitchen
. . . cuts kitchen labor and manpower
. . . reduces the amount of food inventory necessary
3) Cuts the number of servers needed
. . . ordering time per-table is reduced
. . . serving time is quicker
. . . reduces attentiveness and service to each table
. . . quickens the register and check processes
4) From what we were told,
. . . breakfast will eventually be all-you-can-eat, only (no ala carte) *
. . . lunch will be ala carte, only
. . . dinner will be all-you-can-eat, only (no ala cart)
5) Overall, this will also increase capacity and increase revenue
. . . more "table turns" per hour
. . . quicker ordering for guest, by removing menu choices
. . . will also increase tips for waiters, as more diners and higher checks

* No announcement as to when the breakfast change is to be made.

I'm disappointed to hear this. Sounds like we will never eat there again. Husband wants the skillet, I don't. I'll be disappointed if breakfast changes too. Our breakfast there was one of my favorite restaurant experiences in WDW (again, hubby with the skillet, me without).

And I don't get an increase in tips out of this. I figure it is a fancy buffet. One of the selling points is it reduces service and attentiveness. I would tip less not more...you don't have to take orders, you don't have options for me to spend more money.....

What about the Christmas Day option? Will the salad also be gone from that pre set meal? For me the salad is the best part, aside from butter/cornbread.

Well, this is very frustrating. We will be at WCC in exactly 19 days. We have a lunch ADR there before MNSSHP. My whole family always orders the skillet, which is an especially great deal with the DVC discount. I'll have to talk to my DH to see if he still wants to go. We may be changing our ADR.

Absolutely not happy about this. While half my party would have ordered the skillet, the other half definitely not!

I will definitely be looking for another ADR for my MK evening.

I'm worried about our ADR's next month as most of the items included in the skillet my DH cannot eat do to his digestive disease, so he wasn't planning on ordering the skillet. Now just over a month out from our trip, and we may have to cancel and try to find an alternative with shorter notice than I'd like.

And because of his disease is noted on our reservations, as allergies would be listed, how would these be handled? Would everyone else feel like they have to just cancel or would they be able to accommodate for such issues?

Ugh, I have an ADR on 9/26. I wasnt too excited with this choice to begin with and now for sure am dreading it. But this is my father in laws request. I definitely didn't want the skillet

1) Like any other allergy issue.
2) The chef will come out and talk to you.
3) Then, they will make up a skillet that fits your allergy/disease.

Thanks for the explanation. That does make a lot of sense, though it might not be what's best for my family personally.

We had a lot of fun when we went there "way back when." We went for dinner and it was "all you care to eat."

I was seriously considering adding it to my ADRs this trip because my husband has never been and that skillet is right up his alley. I actually showed him the picture last night.

However, I wouldn't have chosen it for myself and WCC is not going to fit my lunch plans. So, I will find somewhere else for dinner.

I've always debated whether to try Whispering Canyon. There were some menu items that piqued my interest, but the restaurant's theme and the purported "antics" of the servers are a deterrent for me. With no a la carte dinner options, that meal is definitely out. Maybe we'll try breakfast some time, but this news sure doesn't make me want to rush over there.

I cancelled my reservation yesterday. I wanted to go because I would like the skillet, but no one else in my family wants that; they had all picked out ala carte items. Now lunch won't make me happy and dinner won't make my family happy so it goes off the list.
