Babyproofing the room - BCV

We are staying at the BCV really soon! EEEEp!

I was wondering if it was possible to get a high chair for the room? We are staying in a 1 BDRM and my parents have the attached studio.

The other thing I was wondering about was child proofing. I thought the kitchen had an open floor plan? Does it? Is there a way to keep the baby out of there? Was wondering if they had baby gates somewhere to borrow/ use/ buy.

He's 14 months and just started walking EVERYWHERE. I want to make sure he has a safe place to play in the room without chasing after him the entire time. Any other things to consider? Thank you so much!

As for the highchair, all DVC rooms have one in the closet AFAIK. If by chance, it is not there, call and ask them to bring one.

There is a high chair in the room but it's the restaurant type, just a stand, no tray.

I've never heard of baby gates being available. The kitchen is open, may block it with chairs. There is a pack n play which you could use as a playpen.

We usually stay on via DVC but this time we booked the rooms via Disney. Is there a difference? I heard housekeeping will come in every day, but other than that, are things the same?

There's not much to get into in the kitchen. The pots and pans are in the stove drawer ( very hard to open) and you can keep your food supplies up on the counter ledge and using some of the upper cabinets and open shelves if you re-arrange a bit. That just leaves the under sink area with the garbage can....one easy trick that worked for me was to use a rubber band to secure the 2 cabinet knobs together (twist it in a figure 8 one or two times until it's tight enough). Easy to get in to for adults but enough baby proofing for my kiddos to keep them out.

I agree with the PP. I used a hairband to keep the cabinet under the sink closed and brought some outlet covers since my son like to stick anything and everything in outlets. Other than playing with the soap and shampoo bottles, there really wasn't anything else for him to get into.

If I remember correctly, we took the oven/stove knobs off when we were at BCV. They just slide off. As others have said, I wouldn't worry about a gate on the kitchen. Just double check that all the low cabinets are cleared out for him. The trash can is usually under the sink.

You can bring your own outlet covers to install. But please don't use duct tape or other tape to tape cabinets shut or to cover stuff. It messes up the finishes.
