I am planning an Empty Nest Cruise with other parents from a College Prep board to celebrate getting the kiddos off to college next fall. Made me think we could see what other reasons people are planning a non-traditional Disney Cruise.

I will start

Empty Nest Cruise - to celebrate that they are finally out of the house :cool1: and to console ourselves that are babies are all grown up :( .

Too good to pass up IGT/OGT/VGT rates on the 5-day DCL cruises out of New York up to Canada. Time for a girls' cruise! (I actually considered pulling the kids out of school for this one, but even though the cruise fare was deeply discounted, we are from California, and there still would have been the issue of airfare for the whole family to get to New York -- much less of an issue with a party of one!). And even though DD10 and DS8 couldn't quite get their brains around why Mommy was doing a Disney cruise without them, I didn't feel too bad since we took a family cruise on DCL to Alaska in August. I do feel slightly guilty that this turned out to be one of my best DCL cruises ever. It was amazing only having to think about what I wanted to do when I wanted to do it (along with my friend, but we turned out to be on the same wavelength in terms of what we wanted to do for almost the whole cruise).

Resident rates, no kids, off season, not so many passenger kids and 55 minutes to the port. Those are the only reason for non traditional cruise!

Because I can? :)

First cruise was to celebrate finishing my MBA. Now I cruise because its a great break from work and can turn my cellphone off!

Retirement Gift :banana:!! DD is treating me to a "Fantasy" Mother-Daughter cruise to celebrate!!

"Weaned my youngest baby from nursing!"
After a year and a half we left DD behind and went on a cruise.

And coming up we've got a
"Finished the Mortgage"
cruise. Which we'll pay in cash and go in the cat R.

DH suggests we schedule an "it's a Tuesday" cruise. Just because.

My dh and I went on our first cruise on the dream in sept 2011 just to try it out to see if the kids would like one. Lol. We loved it and booked another cruise on another cruise line this past June with kids and Dh's parents cruise part was ok. It rained on us our day at sea and at Nassau The other cruise line was the pits and we will never go on again. Dcl all the way. We now have another cruise on the dream planned for jan 2013 just me and dh just because we want too. Kids are getting grandparents time. Lol. But we are finally taking then in nov 2013 along with my brother and his family. My other brother and mom. We also are hoping for 2014 on the fantasy as soon as itinerary comes out.

I think this is funny....You are celebrating finally getting your kids out of your house so you are going to spend your vacation with hundreds of other peoples kids :thumbsup2

Nope, plan to ignore other people's kids and spend a lot of time Quiet Cove. Plus school will be in session, so the number of kids will be reduced. :)

January 26th Magic out of Galveston -Was originally a girls cruise and also now to celebrate my retirement (after 35 years teaching) on January 18th!!

45th Anniversary trip, for the 2 of us.:love:EBTA cruise that happens to end on the real date, June 1st, so we also booked the June 1st Med cruise!
