1st week of September 2012. This must be a new thing they're trying at CSR. There is no longer a "slot" to insert your card key, but rather an electronic "reader" that you merely put your card in front of, then you see the little light turn green and open the door. It was not like this in early April.

They are switching all resorts over to this. AoA was built that way, and I know the Beach club was switched not long after...I haven't heard how many are not converted yet.

We stayed at AKL on this same trip and it was not converted to this. We inserted the key into the slot over at Jambo House.

I can see a problem with this....someone drops their key at their resort and a dishonest person picks it up:scared1: all they have to do is walk along a hall or whatever and pass the key by each door until one lights up:scared1:
 
If they are like the ones on the ship they deactivate after so many tries. Some teens tried it on one of the cruises I went on.
 
Those are the new RFID chips for doors they really are safer than the old slide in cards as those didn't expire after trying unsuccessfully on doors. I manage a hotel and these are the future of hotel's door locks. Disney is just ahead of the game as usual on some things.
