Florida's Treasure Coast?: A Disney's Vero Beach Resort TR! COMPLETE

Thanks for the TR, I'm enjoying it. We love Vero Beach, hoping to get back there in the next couple of years.

Last time we were there, two years ago, they were out of the Vero DVC pin as well. I was really bummed about it.

Wow, what a cute trip report!! Such a beautiful resort, too! Can't wait to try it someday. You all looked like you had so much fun!

Just caught up! This is awesome! I'm really glad you're still around because your TRs are so detailed, thoughtful and organized. Really great for future vacationers.

Oh, my--what a bummer about the pin! I'll have to look up on eBay, I guess.

Wow.. that went quick! You all look like you had a blast though...

Thanks! It was short but sweet. :)

Other Florida Activities

So, the real reason we took a trip to Florida was to visit my brother and niece, but I was lucky enough to squeeze in 2 nights at Vero Beach beforehand. Once we left the resort we headed over to my parent's vacation condo south of Tampa. I've never driven from one side of Florida to the other before, so I was surprised at how much nothingness there was.

We ended up staying at the family condo for 3 nights. Each day my niece came over to play, while my brother worked. We hadn't seen her since my wedding in November of last year, so being the six year old she is, she talked our ears off. Here she is giving a makeover to her Grandma.

My Mommy is a very brave lady, haha

We also wanted to do a fun activity with my niece during the weekend. We discovered that she is obsessed with animals right now, so I suggested taking her to Animal Kingdom for the day. Sadly, my parents didn't feel like driving 2 hours there and 2 hours back, phooey. My niece explained that she had seen the movie Dolphin Tale and that we could go visit Winter the dolphin up in Clearwater, FL. I wasn't too excited because I had already visited 2 zoos / aquariums this summer, but I went along with it anyways. Upon arrival, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium wasn't in great condition, but they are fundraising for a new building. However, seeing Winter and hearing her story was amazing. (For those of you that don't know, she is the dolphin that lost her tail and sometimes wears a prosthetic.)

I highly recommend this attraction. It was a really fun family activity, too. There were also Sea Turtles and Sea Otters that were on view, but in rehab. There was also a tank full of Sting Rays that you could pet. I'm sure there was a bunch more to see and do, but we left after a couple of hours to go to the Disney Store in Tampa!

I am a Disney Store Cast Member, so I was eager to see if the store in Tampa, FL was an Imagination Park store, which it was! They are just so much more magical and fun! Anyways, my niece ended up picking out an Aurora singing doll and a few outfits and pjs. I also picked up this snazzy t-shirt that we don't have at our store.

After a busy long weekend with my niece, we had to catch our flights back to the Northeast. We were flying out of Orlando, so passing this was not an easy thing to do!

Sharing a breakdown all of our purchases we had for 2 nights at Disney's Vero Beach Resort (minus souvenirs).

Glad I Did:
•Try Disney's Vero Beach Resort - I was a little nervous trying something that I wasn't familiar with, but I had nothing to worry about. The resort is gorgeous, fun, and relaxing. I fell in love with it more than I ever thought I would. We will definitely be returning!

•Booked a 2-bedroom villa - It provided plenty of space to be apart from each other, but still allowed us to come together as a family.

•Went after Labor Day -
This was a great time to vacation at the resort! The whole place was practically empty. I'm pretty sure I only saw around 8 kids total the whole time, too.

•Try Shutters restaurant - I am a huge Disney foodie, so I was really excited to try the table service restaurant at the resort. In the end, it was expensive, but I'm happy to see what sort of offerings there were.

Wish I Had:
•Utilized the kitchen - I think it would have saved us a lot of money if we had eaten in our room (especially if we stayed more than 2 nights!). We will definitely do this next time.

•Gone kayaking - There just wasn't enough time this trip, but I fully plan to book this excursion the next time we visit!

•Dined at Sonya's - I didn't know that Sonya's was only open Thursdays - Sundays. If I had known, I would have pushed our trip back a day.

•Stayed longer - I think we all wish our Disney vacations could be longer. :)

nice report.

That crab was something else!!!!!!!!! We saw a few on the beach itself, but not walking along the walkway.

Great report, Danielle! I miss VB so much. :lovestruc Your report definitely helps remind how much I need to get back there and bring the hubs there for the first time. I loved going there as a child (and haven't been since I was maybe 14?) and I'm so glad to see it all as I remembered and that you enjoyed it so much! There are so many places I'd love to see in Florida like Winter the dolphin, but it's so hard to be there and not go to Disney!

This was a great TR... you have me so excited for our trip :cool1:

We leave in 16 days...but who's counting??:rotfl:

Our first time there (1 bedroom villa), and can't wait to experience the beach and and pool and the restaurants.

Thanks again! Awesome!!:thumbsup2

Thanks, Catherine! I would be missing VB too, especially having childhood memories--Those must have been great fun. Now you def need to take the hubby there! He'd love it. I agree, my brother always says, "Every time you come to Florida you have to do something Disney." (Which honestly hasn't been happening until 2009...) Anyways, I'm just thinking, what's the problem with that? Disney's the best!

Ooooh, You are getting close to the single digits! Hope you have a marvelous time. Thanks for reading!

I love how detailed your TR is. Hopefully we will get the chance to stay there someday. My mother-in-law has a place in Vero Beach so my husband feels it is best to stay there for free. Maybe your pictures can help me convince him otherwise :)

Thanks for reading! I hope my pictures can sway your hubby--Disney always does vacations right. :)
