Oh, Just A Few GALLONS of Pixie Dust! - A July/August 2012 TR

OH

MY

WORD.

That cupcake looks AH-MAH-ZING. Seriously! After I read your update, I told Matt that next trip we are going to the Contempo to get cupcakes. In fact, it should work out well for us because this time we're planning on exploring the Contemporary a bit more than we have in the past! I have been kind of harsh on the Contemporary, and your TR is making me realize that's a little unfair... But this cupcake! I think I will be eating this during our trip.

The Red Velvet looks amazing, too! But I think my favorite will still be the Red Velvet from Starring Rolls, so I'll be eating the Chocolate Peanut Butter when we visit the Contemporary!

I totally hear you on having days where you just want to soak it all in and spend time in your room! I mean, you had VERY good reason to do that. :cloud9: I love those types of afternoons/evenings when you just enjoy being on VACATION.

I love thinking about hearing the Tomorrowland music from the room. That just sounds so perfect. :goodvibes

More great updates!! Both of those cupcakes look so good, though I think I may have to try that peanut butter one when I go. YUM.

Thanks for taking so many pictures from your balcony. I seriously cannot wait until April and hope our view is as good as that! I totally agree with you, it is nice to sometimes just relax/enjoy the resort. If you liked BLT so much then I think you should definitely try the Boardwalk on your next trip. ;) It was so nice being able to look out over the lake and see the YC/BC, watch the people down on the Boardwalk, and see/hear Illuminations pretty much every night. :thumbsup2

Hey girl! Hahha nice to see you commenting again! (I hope you didn't feel like you had to... but I'm so glad you did!) Thank you though! I love the Canada pavilion too. It's so beautiful.

ACK ME TOO. They really are! I agree, they should. I'm so obsessed with them as well! Since we were talking about Target on twitter, I have to fill you in. At Target they have AMAZING soft pretzels! I know that's ridiculously random, but sometimes if it's around lunch time and I'm at Target, I'll get one. And they're a really good price too! Yeah, I'm obsessed... haha, you understand. :goodvibes

Hahahaha, so much pressure to comment! (KIDDING!! :P ) I'm seriously considering going to Target right this minute too . . . .

-It's so funny seeing "wild" animals in Disney. Its like your in a bubble, (a very nice bubble where you want to stay forever). I hope Bambi stayed away from any Gators! That is seriously the only animal I ever see at Disney (and thankfully they've always been in the water!!)
-I'm so glad you loved BLT!! Being able to see the Castle at night from your room! and WISHES! Does life get any better??

You have described the chocolate pb cupcake SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO well that when I go in Dec., that will be my first stop! Hope they still have 'em. Thank you a million times over for the photos and the exquisite description. :-)

I think that cupcake has my name on it somewhere!! Sounds so up my alley! Reese's PB cups are my favorite! I even make myself pb chocolate protein shakes!

Must add to my list of snacks I must find!

Loving the TR so far!!! And I have to say that I am OBSESSED with your Friends and Full House references. I'm 24 so I think we pretty much grew up with the same pop culture references and I'm loving it! Your TR is really making me want to book my next stay at the Contemporary! Love the balcony photos!

Marissa, I am sure that your mother told you, but I totally know her! I have been so far behind on my DisBoard-ing, but I was so excited to read your latest trip report. I was scrolling through the post about who all was going and saw you mom and nearly freaked! She and I met severeal years ago on a site called Cafe Rocks. My sister was a part of that community and wanted me to join in and those ladies welcomed me with open arms. Your mother is so sweet and has the most contagious smile and you look so much like her! I sent her a message on facebook to tell her that I am so excited to read all about the Disney trip through you. I got to look at her photos on fb and can't believe I didn't connect the dots before now. Anywayz. I'm loving your report so far and I can't wait to read more!

Hi!!! Oh my goodness, it's nice to hear from you again! Did you stop doing your PTR or did I get unsubscribed somehow? Anyways, YES! She told me! I thought that was the funniest thing ever! It really is a small world, right? :lmao: That's really sweet of you to say! Hahah, I guess you might know what's coming after seeing her photos then!

Ok, I am officially all caught up!

Whew! I think I need a nap now!

But ANYWAYS!

OMG what a wonderful first full day!!

Holy Moley that cupcake looks absolutely wonderful!!!! I'm so hungry right now, so I'm basically drooling on my keyboard! Wow! I wish they had had that option when we were there!!! I would have definitely chose that one!!!!

How cool to watch Wishes on your balcony. That is so magical!!! I'm so glad you had such a perfect room!!! :goodvibes

Hahaha sorry about that, didn't mean to wear you out!

It was!!! Oh my gosh it was. That cupcake. AHHH it was just brilliant. It was my dream cupcake. I want another one so badly, I really need them to not get rid of it!

IT WAS AMAZING. It really was! Thank you so much girl!

UM YEAH. BASICALLY, YEAH.

Excuse me while a take a bow. THANK YOU!!! I'm so glad I'm helping to change your mind about the Contemporary! It's an amazing resort!

AHH YAY!!!! Wanna send me one? Omg. I just want one so badly. I have been craving one since I got home basically, but after writing about it, the craving has gotten so much worse! :faint:

I will say... I liked the Contempo cupcakes better than Starring Rolls. :ssst:

Yeah, exactly! As much as I ADORE the parks beyond belief, it's a waste to not take the time to enjoy your resort as well! I mean, it practically felt like we WERE in MK.

I can't even correctly explain to you how perfect it was!!!

Thank you! Oh my goodness, I HIGHLY recommend it! It was the best thing EVER.

You're welcome! I can't wait for you to go either (even though I'll be so jealous)! I bet your view will be just as good! If you can, request a higher floor! We were on the "eleventh floor" (said in the elevator voice).

It's funny you should say that, because the Boardwalk has really been on my radar lately! I think it seems amazing! For my next trip, my mom made me an offer that I cannot refuse, BUT, the trip after THAT, I really want to try to stay at the Boardwalk Inn!

HAHAH. Did you?? ;)

I agree! It totally is a bubble, the best bubble ever that I wish would never pop!!! Hahah I'm sure he did! He seemed like a regular so I bet he and his deer pals steer clear of those mean gators. I think I would basically freak out if I saw a gator and thankfully I haven't yet!

Thank you! It was the best. It still seems so weird to me that I actually got to stay there! It was so amazing. Seriously, it DOESN'T get any better!!

You have described the chocolate pb cupcake SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO well that when I go in Dec., that will be my first stop! Hope they still have 'em. Thank you a million times over for the photos and the exquisite description. :-)

Wow! Thank you so much! I'm glad it was helpful for you and I really hope you love the cupcake as much as I do! You're very welcome!!! :goodvibes

Aww thank you so much! And let me just say...

WELCOME TO THE DIS!!!! :cheer2:

Hahha thank you! So glad you enjoy the references... I got a million of 'em. ;) Ack, I'm turning 24 next month so basically yes, we definitely grew up with the same pop culture stuff! That's awesome!

Oh yay! I hope you get to stay there! I've never stayed at the ACTUAL Contemporary, but I really want to and I bet the views from there are just as wonderful!

Thank you so much for joining in on my TR and for your kind words! I hope you continue to enjoy it!

I am so behind but catching up! I just read about CM & I have to admit I'm a fan of those silly napkins, lol!! This will be our 1st trip w/o CM. Sad, but true. We just wanted to try something new. I also wanted to add that I am IN LOVE w/ the garden wing @ the CR. It seems a little more private & I'd love to stay there someday. :goodvibes Anywhere on the monorail loop would be so nice!!!:lovestruc

Hooray for catching up! Hahaha I don't think the napkins are silly, I love them! They're too fun.

I just feel sorry for the little garden wing! It looks so odd now without the other one. It would most likely be much quieter though! :thumbsup2 I agree, the monorail loop wins!

Thanks for catching up!!! :goodvibes

Anyone ready for another video?

How about TWO? :thumbsup2

Now, I admit that these videos aren't the most interesting videos you will ever see.

HOWEVER.

If you wanted to know what it was like to watch The Magic, the Memories, and You

VIDEO: MMY

and Wishes

VIDEO: Wishes

from our balcony, these are the videos for you!

They're ESPECIALLY the videos for you if you wanted to know what it was like to watch those shows... with my mom and I. :rolleyes2

That being said, please excuse our commentary. You can hear the music A LITTLE BIT in the videos, but not as well as we could when we were actually there.

(Oh, and when I said the fireworks went 'early,' they totally didn't. I didn't realize it the first night, but we were hearing the music on a 2-second delay because sound travels.)

I hope you enjoy!!!

Continued in Next Video Post

I seriously contemplated not watching the videos because I really don't need anymore convincing to get a theme park view @ CR or BLT. :rotfl: But, I gave in to temptation since I will never get to see the MMY show. :sad2: It looks so great! The part with the lanterns from Tangled was great! And the fireworks....just lovely. :goodvibes

Hahaha awww! I wish it was a better example of the show in the video then! It was really great. The lantern part actually wasn't part of the original show! It wasn't added until later! I think there was this whole Valentine's segment that just stayed around for the rest of the year. I'm really glad they added it though because it was my favorite part. You should watch the whole show on you tube!

Cool Video's! I never got to see the MMY show! And they aren't doing it in October.

Thank you! I'm sorry. :( I know, that really stinks. You should watch it on you tube!

The One With A Toy Story Morning!

Day 3: Tuesday, July 31, 2012

I woke up excited yet again for a fun filled Disney day! I leapt out of bed, snuck a look at the castle, and got ready at lightning speed.

This time I had a birthday cake poptart for breakfast, which was good but not as good as my beloved s’mores kind! BUT LOOK! It had a hidden Mickey on it!

SDC12990.jpg

It’s so special.

This morning was my dad’s time ‘off.’ He requested a free day on this trip to relax, and this was it! Anna decided she wanted to stay back with him so she could sleep in. (These people are clearly NOT related to me.)

My mom, Jacob, and I made it to the bus stop at around 8:30 to wait for our bus. We were going back to DHS for another fun morning in Hollywood (as if that wasn’t obvious from the title of this update)!

We waited while three Animal Kingdom/Blizzard Beach busses and two Downtown Disney/Typhoon Lagoon busses came and went. There was a cute little family waiting as well, and today was their first park day… of their first trip ever!!! Unfortunately this probably didn’t give them the best impression of Disney Transportation. Hopefully they had better luck the rest of the week! (I’m betting they did though. I mean, MONORAIL.)

That’s the family behind mother and brother! In case you were curious...?

SDC12991.jpg

The good news is, while you’re waiting for a bus at the Contemporary, you’re at the Contemporary. There is a lot to look at. There is a lot to photograph. And so, I did JUST THAT!

SDC12994.jpg

SDC12995.jpg

SDC12997.jpg

Yes, that is the ground.

SDC12996.jpg

While we were waiting, I felt something hit my leg. I looked up and saw a bird flying away. I looked down, and there was a dime on the ground right next to my foot. There was a family of four kids and a mom right behind me, so I asked them if they’d dropped a dime. They all had strange looks on their faces and then the mom said, “The bird just dropped it!”

OH MY GOSH! Like, really? What on earth? Thank God it didn’t fall on my head or something!

Luckily I recovered quickly. MORE PICTURES!

SDC12998.jpg

You can’t even tell, but that’s the Avengorail!!!!!!

SDC12999.jpg

That’s… the… underneath-ness… of the Avengorail!!!!!!

SDC13000.jpg

That’s monorail peach!!!!

(Yeah, if you ever go to Disney with me/run into me there, know this: I get excited about pretty much everything.)

SDC13002.jpg

Like, if you were wondering what that sign looked like… you’re welcome, basically.

SDC13003.jpg

That’s the bus monitor CM guy??? He basically had to keep telling us, “Nope, not this one. Sorry.”

Finally our bus came, but it was a weird kind of bus. It looked like a city bus on the inside (though it was still decorated like Disney busses with all the Disney/ABC ads and everything). It didn’t even say “Hollywood Studios” on it, it said “DCRP.” I thought maybe it was a College Program bus? I guess we’ll never know.

Unfortunately, since we ended up having to wait so long, it was past 9:00 when we got on the bus! Then once again, we had to stop at the Poly to pick up more people.

Yall, my Toy Story mornings weren’t working out so well!

We finally made it to DHS at around 9:20. WAY behind schedule, WAH!

BUT I WOULD RIDE!

The CM who checked my bag was AWESOME. Over the course of the trip so far I'd noticed that all the bag check CMs would ask me to pull out my camcorder case and open it. That morning I decided I'd be ahead of the game, and I got it out and opened it while I was in line. When I got to the front I told him I knew he'd want me to open it so I already had, and he said, “You're amazing! You’re so amazing!”

Then he turned to the woman who was next in line and said to her, “I feel like we should give her some money. Will you give her some money?” Then he turned back to me.

“She doesn't have any cash. Next time.”

It was TOO funny.

Although from now on, I would appreciate it if other guests would keep cash with them at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.

So after all that, you’d think we finally made it into the park. RIGHT?

Oh… no.

When we were trying to get into the park we ended up behind these two girls. Their tickets weren’t working and so the CM asked them to please go over to Guest Relations to see if they could give them new ones.

Well, the girls decided that wasn’t okay with them and they didn’t want to do that. They couldn’t be bothered with WALKING to Guest Relations and then WAITING to get new tickets.

Instead they started arguing with the poor CM, saying, “But these are OLD tickets. They should be working. We’ve used them before. I don’t know why they wouldn’t be working. BLAH BLAH BLAH.”

Meanwhile, we’re just stuck behind them because they refused to go over to Guest Relations. They didn’t seem to mind wasting everyone else’s time. It ticked me off slightly. I couldn’t believe how stubborn they were. I try not to let dumb guests annoy me, but seriously? Did they not understand the meaning of the word MANIA? Did they not sense that I was needed in Pixar Place? CLEARLY NOT. Just swallow your pride and go over to Guest Relations. THANKS.

While they were arguing, another CM opened the line next to us. BLESS HER. We JUMPED over there and got through immediately and left those dumb girls to fight it out some more with the CM. Sigh. It wasn’t their fault that the girls’ ‘old tickets’ weren’t working! A word to the wise: unless a cast member is actually at fault, DON’T BLAME THEM!

So anyways…

When we were finally in the park, we stopped to check the Times Board on our way to Pixar Place.

TSM said 45 minutes. EEK!

We made it to Pixar Place. and the wait time wasn’t listed as 45 minutes. Oh no. It was listed as SIXTY minutes.

The FP return time was already like March 2013 or something so we had no choice!

We all wanted to ride and I had been counting on it. It was basically wait or don’t ride. So clearly, we chose to wait.

Listen, if you think late busses, rude girls holding up the line at the entrance, and a 60 minute wait are going to stop me from riding Toy Story Mania… then you are WRONG!!!

On our way inside, my mom asked a CM if it was really an hour wait, and she was basically just like, “YEAH.” Well… alright.

At least when you’re waiting an hour for Toy Story, you’re waiting an hour for Toy Story. It’s worth it, at least in my opinion. There’s so much stuff to look at, too! It’s the best queue ever!

Well, we got inside and started waiting. I took 42 thousand pictures.

My mom was really excited because she said that the ceiling looked EXACTLY like the Chutes and Ladders board that she had when she was little! The one we had when I was little was different than that, so I thought it was cool!

IMG_3332.jpg

GUESS WHAT, THOUGH?!

This was my first time in the standby queue! Do you know what that means?!?!

POTATO HEAD.

IMG_3337.jpg

He is such a witty fellow!

SDC13014.jpg

SDC13015.jpg

SDC13017.jpg

FINALLY, we made it to the front of the line!!!

Oh, and guess what? That 60 minute wait?

It was 15 minutes.

No seriously. We waited 15 minutes.

ONE HOUR MY SHOE!!!

I’m not telling you my score this time. I’m not proud of it. Or maybe I forgot what it was. We’ll go with that one. All you need to know is that I think I had even MORE fun than I'd had the day before!!! That ride is the BEST.

I could have ridden it about 500 more times, but we moved on after our first ride.

I had some toys to meet.

I am really loving your trip report! Your commentary is great and really entertaining! popcorn::
And last time I was at the Grand Floridian I did the same thing as you looking for all of the Full House "hot spots". However, I didn't look for the hammock, but we found all of the ones in the lobby, but unfortunately there was someone playing the piano so we didn't get too close, haha. Full House was one of my favorite shows growing up so I love all of your references to it! :goodvibes
A word to the wise: unless a cast member is actually at fault, DON’T BLAME THEM!
and THIS. God bless you. This should be a rule of thumb for everyone everywhere. I work at a grocery store and my coworkers and I get blamed for everything from the customers when it's not our fault!

Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip!! :wizard:

This time I had a birthday cake poptart for breakfast, which was good but not as good as my beloved s’mores kind! BUT LOOK! It had a hidden Mickey on it!

SDC12990.jpg

MAGICAL pop tarts?? I want one!!!

That’s… the… underneath-ness… of the Avengorail!!!!!!

That's almost more excitement than I can handle!!!! :lmao:

(Yeah, if you ever go to Disney with me/run into me there, know this: I get excited about pretty much everything.)

We would make excellent touring partners!!

The CM who checked my bag was AWESOME. Over the course of the trip so far I'd noticed that all the bag check CMs would ask me to pull out my camcorder case and open it. This is awesome!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

GUESS WHAT, THOUGH?!

This was my first time in the standby queue! Do you know what that means?!?!

POTATO HEAD.

IMG_3337.jpg

Such a cute photo!!

Oh, and guess what? That 60 minute wait?

It was 15 minutes.

No seriously. We waited 15 minutes.

Now that's some SERIOUS pixie dust!!

While waiting forever for a bus, getting stuck behind rude park goers, and having a bird throw things at you doesn't sound like a magical start- an unexpected 15 minute wait for Toy Story DOES!!! So glad that you finally got to meet Mr. Potato Head! Love that guy.

Ugh, I hate when bus pixie dust is off, that's annoying to wait. That's kind of funny that the bird gave you a dime though!

Yay for your "hour" long wait only being 15 minutes though!! :thumbsup2

You have me convinced that we need to spend one night one of these years in a BLT MK view room. I'd love being able to see the shows and experience the hustle and bustle of the monorails running around right there from my balcony.

It's always nice when 60 minutes is really 15 when it comes to a line wait. :cool1: We've rarely been in a line that was as long as it said. The bad side of riding TSMM at rope drop is that the line is moving too fast, and you can't stop for pictures.

You crack me up...
You:
the FP return time was March 2013! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
You:
If you ever wondered what the sign looked like.. you're welcome... basically... :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
TOO FUNNY! Girl, you should do stand up!

I always give rude people the 'mom face'. Apparently, I'm really good at it. I don't want to be mean, but really? You're going to be THAT miserable in the happiest place on earth? Piss off.

Glad you finally made it to TSM AND that it was only a 15 minute wait....score! :yay:

**Edited because apparently the B-word is off limits. Mean is nicer anyway.
