Do they do the Wishes desert party on nights of the MVMCP for people who aren't going to MVMCP?

Basically if I am not going to MVMCP, do they do the Wishes desert party for the fireworks at the end of the regular park closing? If the park closes at 7PM, is there a Wishes desert party at 6PM?

no you have to have a MVMCP ticket and wishes is at 930 so the only dessert party is offered at 830

What about the nights that they don't do MVMCP. Is wishes and the Dessert Party just earlier?
And are the parks more or less crowded during MVMCP. Is paying the extra $$ in your opinion worth it?
We are a couple in our 40s with no kids and wondering if the extra $100 for MVMCP is worth it with the WDP.

Some ppl say no. some say yes. I personally think if you love the christmas time, then you should experience it once in your life :)

We were in the park for a couple of nights last year. One was for MVMCP, the other was for Extra Magic Hours.

This year, we are planning on just doing EMH.

MVMCP was far more crowded than Extra Magic Hours. On our trip 5 years before that was not the case, this year it was. Still, MVMCP is less crowded than normal hours, and the lines are shorter.

What is good about MVMCP? MVMCP has fake snow, free hot chocolate and cookies, the parade, character appearances, and special merchandise. It's certainly charming, but it's not up there on my list of peak vacation experiences (e.g., an evening in Paris or Dublin).

In any event, we decided to save the $$ this year in favor of being more rested for our EMH day. I'm not sure our kids wont miss MVMCP, and I'm glad we did it last year, but I'm okay with not spending the extra $200+ it costs for us. And, if we were not at a resort, and could not do EMH, we might make a different calculation.

We are a retired couple 59 & 60 been to Disney numerous times but never at Christmas time so I want to do it all the party and I booked the DP, I figure we are having dinner @ 4:30 and by 8:30 I think the DP should be a most welcome place to stop for a while. Now Bob says he would just as soon skip the party so I am in a quandary of sorts as we could shift our plans and skip MVMCP and the DP.

So where are you having dinner??? Just curious. But to answer your question, I do think that you'll be ready to sit down and rest for awhile by then. It really a great place to sit, relax, chat and people watch .... not to mention great desserts!!! I've never done MVMCP and DP on the same night .... always different nights ... so I'm no help there.

I gave kind of a long-winded answer above. To sum it up better, if one is interested in MVMCP mostly for the special access and lighter crowds, then EMH may be a better bet. If one is interested in MVMCP for the experience and the Christmas charm, then it's worth it. Not so worth it that I would do it two years in a row, or cut short my visit to stay within budget, but worth it. We really enjoyed it, but we are done with it for a while.

I'm not sure I'd interrupt one thing that I paid for (MVMCP) with a second thing I paid for (DP). I like the DP as a finale on a regular night. Last night at WDW, last thing in the park, park closes, go home. But, everybody has a different take.

And it is a relaxing break from the crowds to have your own space and to feel like a bit of a VIP.

BOG of course where else?

I agree with this. I've done both separately, but neither together and I'm not sure I'd want to. Both can be time consuming. And, honestly, after the dessert party, I'm more pooped than anything. Sugar crash combined with sitting down in a relaxing atmosphere, and I'm pretty well done.

As far as is the MVMCP worth it, that depends. There are some great answers with reasoning behind them. I can't disagree with the crowd issue. But I love that special atmosphere (not fake snow) and the special shows and parade. I wouldn't do it year after year, but I'd definitely do it.

I'm waiting for December to open up too. I hope I get my date, it will be my first Dessert Party! :D
