DISmoms 4 - The Hunt for Jack Sparrow

OK - that adult pool is weird. :confused3 You mean I can't swim up to the bar? I was so looking forward to that. could it be a liability thing?

I still have a bunch of catching up to do, but really enjoyed the last udate!

I haven't gone in that pool yet, but I thought it had a strange set up too. The bar stools out of water I thought was weird too.

It's a wade up pool and it is weird. I wish they had built a bench ring within the adult pool so you could sit partially submerged. But no. It's either ankles only or over your head....no in between.

Hi! Just wanted to let you know I have started my Hawaii TR- it's called Gidget goes Hawaiian and here's a link! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=46025146&posted=1#post46025146 Hope to see you there!:thumbsup2

Yay! Can't wait to read it!

Having Disney Fantasy withdrawal now since we returned on Saturday. It's the most depressing feeling evah!

Yea, it may be weird, but I plan on spending EVEN MORE time in it next year- I will be on the Dream TWICE!!!!:banana: Definitely! Booked my plane tickets for Timmy & I yesterday- AND...I'm very excited, we'll be staying at VWL for 2 nights prior. It will be my first time- and then all I'll have left to visit for the 1st time is GCV, which I hope to do next summer. :goodvibes

But, back to the pool- no, you can't swim up and get a drink- you can crawl if you want to, but you can't swim! And I have not heard why they did it this way- personally, I am too short to have my feet touch the ground if I am sitting on one of those stools- maybe the over your head pool and the stools were designed by a 7 foot tall imagineer? :confused3 Those pool bar seats are ALWAYS empty- and you KNOW if it was a swim up, they would NEVER be-

ACk! Cruise withdrawal....the only vacay withdrawal WORSE is I think Hawaii (well, at least for me, because from NJ, I don't think I'll be going to Hawaii too much) but DCL withdrawal is horrible- it's like a big SLAP in the face when you disembark- all the cruise fairies who made your life so magical were left behind on the ship, and reality BITES!!

Our first stay as a family was at VWL, you'll love it, especially if you like the lodge-type feel! I am jealous you are going on the Dream twice next year, but lucky you! Our first time was last summer and there are places we never even visited, guess we need to go back!

Looking forward to more of your TR!

Sorry for the delay! School started, PTA started, Sean is STILL home, because he will be starting school this year in a new building (same school) and the construction is delayed.....hoping he goes back on Thursday.....and I started that other little TR....but ANYWAY, here's a little update for everyone who's playing Where's Pauldo?

Joanie & Cammie were still at the show, so Kara and I were still on our own.

We were soooooo lonesome! So we decided to play a game....how about, Where's Pauldo?:yay:

Now, if YOU were a Pauldo on the Disney Dream, where would YOU be hiding?:scratchin

I know! Let's look behind a bar!!

Oh look! We found him! In Skyline! Well, what shoud we do now, Kara Jean? I know! Let's put him to work (since we're HERE and all...)

660.jpg

We asked him to make us 2 of that yummy drink Kara had ordered the night before- an Ooh La La-

663.jpg

Hmmm...now it's time to play a new game- what's wrong with THIS picture?

661.jpg

Just to review, here's Kara's Ooh La La from the night before-

OMG, Pauldo was messin with us! He made us sooo confused!! Because at this point, we weren't sure exactly what Kara drank the night before- but we were at least 15% certain, it was NOT this!

661.jpg

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Maybe it's time for some food. To quell our drink hallucinations and all.:rolleyes1

At Happy Hour time each night, there was a spread of yumminess set up out there by 687-

Sorry so many pics are so blurry- I had my camera on the wrong setting- DUH!

Ok Pauldo....Let's try this again! Since we were not looking for the mojito version of an Ooh La La, let's try something else-

668.jpg

That Pauldo! :rotfl: That was my cocktail, and it was very nice. Kara tried-

670.jpg

OMG, I thnk it was a manhattan with a bacon twist- or something- whatever it was, that was NOT the right thing EITHER!! I just know when she ordered it, I was thinkin well, THIS is gonna be interesting....

KJ was not all that impressed with the bacon runneth over in her cup.

And then...there was a shift change. And SHE came in.

You know the one I mean.

Kara's crush.

The girl we all love, the girl we are all FB friends with now.

It was ALEX! :dance3: OUR GIRL had arrived- she and her extraordinary mixology skills!

She said "Vhat are you two dreenking?" And we replied- "We don't know!"

Cause we are REALLY smart and all when we're in a bar and stuff.

And she took our drinks, tossed them out, and made EVERYTHING ALL BETTER! No more Baconater for YOU!

672.jpg

No idea what that was either, but we liked it a whole lot better than bacon in a cup!

671.jpg

Up next- oh look! It's time for dinner! Imagine that....:rotfl:

i AM really looking forward to VWL, I always enjoy trying new things- and the DVC resorts are never a disappointment to me! :thumbsup2

I hope that on the cruise with Timmy I will get to do alot of the things I never seem to have time for- like a cooking demonstration, or watching a movie- and I selfishly am REALLY looking forward to having my baby all to myself! :goodvibes

It completely sucks!

How's that adjustment going to go? My son is on the autism spectrum, PDD-NOS. Highly functioning, extremely verbal. But stuff like changes in his routine, school changes, room changes are awful for him. He freaks out, his behavior goes bananas and it takes WEEKS for him to start acting something like the sweet kid I know again. We have more than one major meltdown this week already (new classroom, more kids, no free play time in class anymore) and it's only the third day of school.

I ordered that Ooh La La on Kara's recommendation and got the tall thing in the beer glass that was absolutely a mojito. I was expecting a martini and got a mojito. It wasn't terrible, just wasn't what I was thinking.

My current drink recommendation is The Shipbuilder's Wife martini in O'Gills Pub (Fantasy). Absolut pear vodka, lemoncello, grappa and something else I'm totally forgetting. I think there was something similar in the other bars, masquerading under different names depending upon what country you were visiting in Europa.

If I can stop scratching long enough to type, I'll be back with what REALLY happened.... see, I decided to play in a patch of poison ivy last weekend - as it 9 days ago, and I"m covered.... not a pretty sight.

BTW, if it's made with elderflower liquour, and my girl Alex makes it... its PERFECT!!!! Pauldo, needs to hide again. And when we play "Where's Pauldo" we wont look for him!!!

Let's see, Skyline is a MARTINI bar!!! Not a Mojito bar!!!! Duh!

And the best part, at least in my experience, is if you don't like the drink they will take it away, and get you something else and not charge you for the drink you didn't like. Wow! Does that go above and beyond or what? At least it does for me.

That was my experience up in the bar between Palo and Remy. Can't think of the name right now but I ordered a lemon martini something and it was just awful. I didn't want to make a big deal about it and would have slowly drank it but the bartender noticed that I wasn't drinking it and asked if I liked it and my DH said "no she really didn't" and the bartender just took it away no questions asked and got me a nice glass of wine instead. We loved to go there in the evening and have a drink and look out that big beautiful window out the aft of the ship. I think that was our favorite bar.

I dont get this alcohol you dont like thing? ...? lol never met one i havent i guess LMAO

Did I know that already about your son? I didn't remember, I'm sorry! Well, I am anticipating it will be challenging- they prepared them all summer, to move to the new school, and they have no control over the construction, so it is what it is. We DID get a call that he will start tomorrow, so THAT'S a relief. They also had 2 days off, Mon & Tues, next week for Rosh Hashannah, but now just Monday. Pods & I go to court tomorrow about him-he turned 18 in June, so this is the Guardianship hearing. Very glad I don't have to figure out babysitting for him! So sorry your son is having a bit of a tough adjustment this fall- hopefully everything will become routine as soon as possible-our sons probably feel the same way about change- just yours can verbalize why he's upset, but mine really can't- he just gets upset and we aren't sure why! Still stinks for everyone, tho- I feel so sad for them when life overwhelms their senses.

Yes! Not terrible at all- but just not what you were expecting! Same here- did Pauldo make yours, or someone else?

That sounds delicious! I will definitely have one with the furure inlaws! :thumbsup2[/COLOR]

The elderflower liquor (St Germain) is sooo hot in cocktails right now- it's REALLY an excellent, unknown to most, liquer.

And I would look for Pauldo again- I like Pauldo! AND he's married to Alenka, and we adore her!

Didn't Alex actually say that? "Thees is NOT mojito bar- Skyline eees Martini Bar!:rotfl2:

Yes- they did and do do that- and it's awesome. They have done it for me at many Disney bars- although, usually, I'm pretty happy with what I get-

We never went to that bar!!!! :scared1: KARA & DREA!!! We have :scared1:some catching up to do!!!

I dont get this alcohol you dont like thing? ...? lol never met one i havent i guess LMAO

I really like that about you.....it's a very admirable quality....:worship: :rotfl:

Honestly, I'm not sure I ever mentioned that about Michael before. I've asked questions about special needs kids on cruises, but I think I did that on the main boards, and never on a cruise specific board. Mostly, he's good. It's just major changes that throw him for a loop. He's regressing a bit this week (clinging to his stuffed toy Linney even more than usual, etc.). He'll be o.k. though. He always surprises me that way.

Bacon in a cup just doesn't sound like my martini of choice. :rolleyes2 I'm glad "your" bartender returned and fixed everything for you!

Ellen, I'm excited for you to take your trip with Timmy! Those moments don't happen much as they grow up.

Kara, put on some mittens. :p I am so sorry you are going through this. I know you asked for remedies, and I don't have any idea.

No, Pauldo is not married to Alenka.... our server from Palo is married to Alenka. Silly Peas......:sad2:

I know, I know, I like lots of drinks. But this was supposed to be like a Lemon Drop and it had no lemon flavor at all. That's all I'm sayin. It was just nasty. Thank god for the glass of Pinot Grigio I got. ;) And that bar is just so beautiful. You really need to try it on your next cruise.

i guess I would have a different idea of bacon in a cup.... but that's another story. I'm so glad that Kara found her girl crush. From the photos she seems wonderful.

Yup Kara needs mittens or she will be skinless from scratching...get well soon

Glad that you and Timmy have a trip planned. I really want to do that with each of my girls. BUmmer on Sean's school. Happy to hear it is making progress. Big hugs for the court date--I know it is just a techinicality but still ugh for court.
Loving the updates!

I love staying at VWL, actually I love staying at all the different resorts. But what I really like about staying at VWL is renting bikes and cruising around the camp grounds. Last time we did that I came back early to do laundry or something and Rob and Sarah almost ran into a couple of teenage deer with their bikes. I do not know who was more shocked, the deer or the humans. Rob said it happened so quickly he did not even have time to snap a shot (and he is like you with his camera, it is always attached to his body).

A personal medical update on me, I went back in for surgery on my hand yesterday and the doc removed the hardware he put in when I crushed the finger bone. The bone healed nicely (but a bit crooked now) but one the screws was poking into a tendon which was creating issues. All is good now. ::yes::

I'm glad your surgery went well, Kate! I have a question- how did he know they were teenage deer? Did they dye the top of their hair pink and were they walking and texting?:confused3

Kara try some Benadryl, that stops the itching if very bad. I know from experience!

Right now living large at AKL, loving every minute except for being stuck on SM & walking down the mountain! Not as bad as you would think!

:lmao: Yep, pink hair and Ipods/Iphones. I really do not know how he knew, I assume they no longer had their fawn spots but were still small. That is a good question.

Another side note, I had to kick a student out of my class this week for disruptive behavior and foul language. Scary for me and the other students; he left yelling, well, I cannot write it here but it ended in "you" as he walked out of the door. I filed a report and he is no longer on my classlist so hopefully he will not be back. I love my job but sometimes I just want to stay home and hide. On a happy note, the other 34 students in this class are awesome. And I have the next four days to stay home and destress (medical leave and the weekend). Bring on the wine. :drinking1
