Emmysdaddy Accompanies the Damsels & Yes, He Posed with Princesses 2/2 Completed

Joining in! Looking forward to both the dining and TR :) Looks like you had a wonderful vacation with the family. Really looking forward to your dining reviews - we have a few of the same ADR's on our December trip!

Yes! We have always received AP discounts at most theme park and resort stores. Even with a standard AP I believe there should be a 10% or 15% discount on purchases. Most World Showcase stores/kiosks in Epcot do NOT offer AP discounts. Also, no AP discounts at places like Contempo Cafe.. not sure about all of the food places at other resorts.

Also, when I used to purchase the ride photos (Dinosaur, EE, Splash Mtn, Space Mtn, etc) we would receive the AP discount as well. You can always ask but it can really add up. I'll probably mention it laster in my review but we had to purchase some luggage this trip and using our AP discount it saved us about $35 for 1 piece.

If it helps make the upgrade any more attractive, the CA Disney resort hotels do offer AP discounts throughout the year so if you can take advantage of a deep discount it may make it worth it. (And in CA it covers your parking, 20% off dining at almost all restaurants and fast service places, and the ability to purchase a TiW card for WDW so you don't have to book vacation packages with dining plans...)

You can always PM me if you have any questions or if you want to know what an AP rate looks like for any of the resorts when offered. :)

Thanks for the info!! I actually had the Deluxe DL AP from October 2010-2011. I sadly did not renew last year.

Unfortunately the Premier AP would cover the parking for the parks but not for the resorts to stay there! :confused3 It makes no sense to me!! (Unless they changed it!)
I actually stayed in the Paradise Pier Hotel last June for my birthday trip with my best friend. It was AWESOME. Loved it there!

I LOVE that the DL AP offers discounts EVERYWHERE. It's really nice to save on all your food and souvenirs. Even if it is only 10% it's still nice!

Ohhhh... Did you get Mickey luggage??! Can't wait to see it!

They were a couple of good photos. You may not have ordered all the ride photos but how many people on the DDP would order what they do if it wasn't free?? Savings are savings and you saved money! :)

Nice Photopass pic! I've never ordered anything from Photopass, but with 302 pics on it, that CD and upgrade sounds like it was worth it to me! (even if you wouldn't normally get the ride pictures )

I think that's the only kind of turkey leg I would eat. Again. Tried a real turkey leg in MK in 2004 and now I can't help but shudder every time I walk by a place that sells them

I've never tried a turkey leg and likely never will so I will take your word for it!! ;)

I'm glad to hear that you liked having Photopass +! I've been very curious if people would like that program (I know it definitely wouldn't work for us!), so it was interesting to hear your review!

Well.... I just wish that I could have found a combined offer for the photopass and a photobook since I always get both. I just wish that my family was more into character photos. They actually got tired of posing with Mickey and Pooh!! :rotfl2:

Great trip report so far :) looking forward to the next installment :coffee:

Thanks Mrtoffee!! Glad you are joining!

Hi there SAT887. Thanks for reading!! I just got another installment up for my DR. I'll create a link to it shortly. :)

I've not stayed at PP hotel but I love the proximity to DTD! What a great way to spend your birthday!

And yes... you will see that my DH is the proud new owner of some Dis luggage!!

They were a couple of good photos. You may not have ordered all the ride photos but how many people on the DDP would order what they do if it wasn't free?? Savings are savings and you saved money! :)

Good point Lisa!! I did save $ and I have some photos to prove our silliness on those rides. And I can share them with all of you so perhaps it was totally worth it!!! :rotfl2:

Thanks! When I do the math it is less than .66 per photo so from that perspective it is a good deal!

Sunday August 19, 2012: Day 2 – Part 1

After sleeping so well on the comfy bed I actually awoke to my alarm – which I rarely use. Evidence of a good night sleep!

We had an 8am ADR at Cape May for breakfast. We decided to walk over to the BC Resort which was a short trek across the bridge and past the YC. I was feeling a bit guilty seeing all of the joggers out while I was power walking to my next meal. However, it was a lovely morning and we enjoyed the relative cool of the day.

Walking into the Beach Club Resort lobby brought back some lovely memories of when Em and I stayed there a week in August 2010. There was a lot of hustle and bustle at that time of the morning since there were a lot of people not only checking into Cape May for breakfast but people hanging out in the lobby.

Here's the link to my Cape May breakfast dining review.

Following breakfast, we ended up walking to Epcot. We were pausing to take some photos and a friendly young gal walking by in shorts and a t-shirt offered to take our family photo – how nice of her. She just had a demeanor that made me ask, “Are you a Cast Member?” She said yes! I knew it!

We would like to imagine that we are world travelers but we'll settle for touring Epcot:

You know how I like characters? And you recall that I had told Michael that he may have to pose with Princesses. Well, he had me on a technicality on this one! We came across Jane in England. I had not seen her before so had to get a photos! I asked Michael to join us and he pointed out that she wasn’t a princess so he could sit that one out! Darn!

I must have guilted him into posing because in the end, he posed with me!

We arrived at the international gateway and headed to the front of the park since I needed to redeem my photopass+ voucher at the camera center. You simply hand them the voucher and they exchange it for this:

They transferred the existing photos that I had on my regular photopass card to the red card. I didn’t use the lanyard since I didn’t think it matched my peach colored outfit!! Actually, I didn’t use the lanyard just because the card itself didn’t appear to stay on the hookie thingie so well and I didn’t want to lose it.

Since we were already at the front of the park we decided to go on Spaceship Earth –it was very cool and refreshing – and the ride wasn’t bad either! Actually, Michael really enjoyed creating our future at the end. It was funny to see how completely opposite we are when it comes to our preferences for recreation, relaxation, and where we would want to live. He’s a country boy at heart and I am completely and totally a city gal.

Next Up: Epcot Adventures

The Boardwalk area in the morning is so peaceful! Hahaha I always am heading to food while I pass people being much more athletic than me too! :rotfl: Oh well, can't pass up those Mickey Waffles!

Glad you enjoyed your CMC breakfast!

Loved your update!!!

What great pictures of the your early morning walk to breakfast!

I love the Cape May character breakfast, although we haven't been since 2008. The beachy attire is very cute and the characters are really fun. Chip and Dale were still at the Cape May on our visit, before they got pushed out of the picture by Donald.

I don't think I have ever seen Jane, or even anyone getting their pictures with her. Cool!

*all caught up*

Love all the photos, especially the one of you with the Coca-Cola guy! :thumbsup2 BW looks beautiful! And the carrot cake cookie ... <drool> So jealous! ::yes::

Look forward to reading more entries! :teeth:

The Boardwalk looks so wonderful in the early morning!

Um... Did you change tops between the picture in the beach club and going to Epcot?! :confused3

I love that you saw Jane! I've never seen her in the parks either!

The Boardwalk looks beautiful in the morning. Wow, I have never seen Jane before and it's great you got pics!

I love it when someone sees a unique character out of the blue like that! And YAY for Emmysdaddy taking a picture!! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to go to the boardwalk!!!!!!!!! It's getting so close!

Wow, Jane...what a rare find! :thumbsup2 I don't ever recall seeing her in any of the parks, except when they used to have the "Tarzan" show at Animal Kingdom. Very cool!!! :)

I remember your morning photos from your last trip of the Boardwalk. (Isn't that where your DH bought his Donald hoodie??) I loved your photos and I hoped that I would have the same lovely peaceful feeling there. I did! :goodvibes

Yay! I love Bo!! You'll have to remedy that carrot cake craving next time you are at DHS!! :thumbsup2

Ummm... you noticed. :rotfl2: I'm just weird that way... wanted to wear something else during the day. :lmao:

I'm glad the photos show how lovely it was. :)

And you will be seeing Boardwalk during such a wonderful time of the year. It will be even more magical just because of the time of the year!! :thumbsup2

We were at EPCOT that morning too! Surprised I didn't run into y'all!

Oh my! We could have had our 2nd unplanned Dis-bump-into-each-other sooner!!! I still think that it is so odd that we saw each other not once but twice as it was - spontaneously! You are soooo cute!! :cutie:

Wow, Jane...what a rare find! :thumbsup2 I don't ever recall seeing her in any of the parks, except when they used to have the "Tarzan" show at Animal Kingdom. Very cool!!! :)

A Tarzan show at AK? And they don't have it any longer? Darn! That reminds me of a parade they had at D-land that had Tarzan riding an "elephant" and he was very nice to look at. :lovestruc

Yea for Michael for posing with a NON PRINCESS! :thumbsup2

Those rice krispy turkey legs crack me up everytime I see them :rotfl:

Hi Debra! I think over time, posing with characters became less appealing to Michael but he was a good sport most of the time!

Makes you wonder what creative krispie treat they will come up with next! Perhaps a Cinderella's glass slipper krispie treat or a Mad Tea Party tea cup krispie treat.

I'm such a knuckle head!!! I was looking back at my Dismeets dates and photos and I realized that I met 9 Disers not 8. I updated my first post but sheesh... feeling a little silly that I left off one Diser. You will never know which one.

Stay tuned because I will definitely count them down as they are revealed.

Chip & Dale are the best!

You didn't ask, but here are a few pictures from that breakfast anyway.

Dee: I love the photos - thanks for sharing! How handy that they have their names on their shirts so you know who is who! I really think Chip & Dale have such great antics and I love to say to them, "look, there are a couple of squirrels!"

The way to tell Chip and Dale apart is that Chip has a semi sweet chocolate chip coloured nose! :)
