Getting ME to take my bags elsewhere - or is this "working" the system?!

OK, I posted yesterday about checking into a value resort 10pm the night prior to checking into my "real" resort for the week. I didn't want my ME luggage to go to value...just straight to SSR for the next morning. Overwhelming response is "no - luggage must go to your resort."

BUT - would the following scenario work?:

My Value stay is on CRO. My SSR stay is on DVC.

Can I give CRO my flight info for Friday arrival. And DVC I will give a Saturday arrival. CRO will then send me luggage tags/ME for Friday night. DVC will send them for Saturday morning. I use the ME book (from CRO) to get the ME shuttle to the value BUT DVC will give me luggage tags for a Saturday arrival to SSR. I put THOSE luggage tags on my bags (instead of the VALUE resort tags from CRO.) So - I get my family on ME bus to VALUE resort...but my luggage at baggage claim states "send to SSR".

Would this work?!

Another option is to simply tell ME that I'm going to SSR on Friday night...and then explaining to ME (when I arrive) that my bags are tagged fine...but I need to get on the VALUE resort ME bus (despite the book stating SSR.)

Any ideas? I'm not purposely trying to work the system... it just seems like a waste of ME and Bell Services time and money to transfer my bags twice within a 10 hour period.

Thoughts? (no flames please - I just want to streamline the process for ME and bell services not to have add'l work for no reason.)

Are you trying to make sure your luggage is lost? Because you are making this so complicated it is liable to happen

And no, you can't just use the wrong tags. When the luggage gets to SSR they will see you are not there, contact CRO find you and ship your luggage to the resort where the system shows you are staying Considering the time, luggage will arrive at VALUE just about the time you want it at SSR and then you will want it shipped back.

You can't just tell ME you are staying at SSR either. You have to have the reservation to book ME LOL

Seriously all you are doing is trying to mess things up and after you confuse Disney who knows where your luggage will wind up. Your attempt at "streamlining" is not really doing it for anyone but you.

While that is admirable, the only thing you are really doing is increasing the risk that something goes wrong with your bags. I'm not sure what a resort will do with bags that arrive a day earlier than expected. Why risk being the one to find out the hard way when Bell Services will happily (with a tip) move your bags for you?

Ummm, yes, you ARE trying to work the system.

That being said, if you did what you're suggesting, your bags would have a ME bag tag that says 'SSR' but checking in the next day. But ME would receive the bag the previous day. So a) who knows what they'll do with it, b) if it does end up at SSR, it would be before you check in, so again, who knows what they'd do with it.

Here are your options as I see them...
1) Take your bags on the ME bus with you. Have baggage services transfer your bags the next day.
2) Tag the bags with the value tags, ME delivers them there, have baggage services transfer bags the next day.
3) Cancel your value resort. Check in to an (near) airport hotel when you arrive. The next morning (however early you want to), bring your bags back to the airport, and take them on ME to SSR.

So you wouldn't really be looking for your bags until SOMETIME the next day? I'll assume you'll go to the parks for most of the day so you'd be expecting your bags to be in your room that evening?

Even if your thought would work this is a BAD idea. If your bags are lost you won't know it for almost a full 24 hours after you land. You will have absolutely NO recourse to get replacements as there is a time limit for notification of lost luggage.

Just suck it up and get your luggage and transfer it as necessary.

As others have said I think you're risking losing your luggage with that plan. I would tell ME when you're checking in that you don't want your bags delivered to your room and that the Bell stand should hold them overnight. The next day when checking out simply ask the bellman to deliver your bags to SSR.

Thanks! I wonder what would happen if I go directly to Bell Services when I arrive at Value and simply tell them "please do NOT send my bags to my room when they arrive - just transfer directly to SSR."

You think they'd be able to do this?

Yes, I really don't need my luggage delivered to SSR until after checkin time the next day (4pm or so.)

Since you won't get to the value resort until 10 p.m., I agree with Sam's suggestion #3. You can get a cheap airport hotel on Priceline or Hotwire the night you arrive, and then take ME to SSR the next morning.

I would break that down to two steps. Arrive at the Value, tell luggage services "please hold my bags when they arrive."

Go to sleep. When you leave for the parks the next morning, THEN tell luggage services "we're transferring to SSR, can you please take care of the bags?" At that point you can make sure they have ALL your bags.

Honestly, you're trying to solve one problem by creating five more. Just use the system the way it was designed - it's going to make it easier on everybody.

Just remember, it may late before you get your bags. If you need them at all during the day, I'd really just take them with you. It sounds like waaaay too much trouble. I'd just get a taxi from CRO to SSR if you have your heart set on staying at CRO for a night, that way you have your bags and everything under your control.

ME won't send your bags somewhere where you aren't.

I believe CRO is central reservations. The OP is staying at a value resort the night she or he arrives.

And as I said, in the other thead...do the above!!! No, your bags, even if tagged with SSR tags, will NOT go to SSR. You do not have an active resort reservation. The date is on the tag, it is in the system. Your bags will, most likely, be kept at MCO overnight. And that is providing way too much opportunity for lost/misdirected luggage.

So, if you arrive at MCO, at 10pm, or later, you won't get your bags delivered anyway!!!! And baggage delivery pretty much slows to a dead stop at the value resorts after this time as well!!! And it doesn't start up until around 6am the next morning. So, you're going to have to get your own luggage anyway.

I would do one of two things....either keep the value resort reservation, and then take your bags with you, in a cab, to SSR the next day. OR....cancel the value reservation, get a cheapish hotel stay at the airport (lots of places are close by with shuttle service back to the airport), get your bags and then take DME to SSR, bags in hand, first thing in the morning, on Sat.

I got a value resort with AP discount for $90... do you think I can get cheaper than that? Hyatt is $190.. no go on that. I am not familiar with other "close to airport" options.

You can get a cheaper hotel on Hotwire or Priceline - although you won't know for sure which one it is until you pay for it.

Pack a bag that has what you need for the first night/morning.

When you land, collect your bags yourself and take them on on the ME bus. (I assume you have to do this anyway as your flight is arriving late, but I'm not sure.) Even if you don't arrive too late to use the baggage service, I would collect my own bags. The baggage delivery service is a fairly well-oiled machine, and people tend to run on autopilot in those situations - having it NOT delivered or having special instructions for it when it's among all the other ME baggage is just inviting a screw-up.

When you arrive at the value resort, give your bags to Bell Services except for the 1 bag with your first night/day stuff.

The next morning, show Bell Services your claim check and ask them to have those bags transferred to your next resort. Give them your 1 bag that you still have in your possession and ask them to transfer it, too.

There's really no easier way around this...you are just asking for trouble if you attempt to interrupt the system they way you are planning.

DO THIS!!!! Honestly, anything else is making something easy hard, and just asking for trouble.
