Tears, Treats, Tumblr and Tropical Storm Isaac

Joining in the fun! So far sounds like you have had an interesing trip.
My DD is the same way with her phone, I actually had to threaten to call T-Mobile and disable her data plan when we were there in April!!! I may just do that next year....:rolleyes1

I'm so sorry that you had to encounter such an awful person, I thought your poncho was just cute!

Monday, August 20th EPCOT DAY

This morning we had an early ADR for Akershus Royal Banquet Hall for breakfast with the Princesses. I had no idea what to expect at this one. It was nice to walk into EPCOT with hardly any people in it except for those going to the same breakfast we were. Ah, quietness! We checked in and had our picture taken with Belle. Again, this photo was part of the Photopass Plus program, so yet another “free” photo. Geez, I forgot to scan it into my computer. Sorry guys I don’t have it to show you. It’s nice and you’ll just have to take my word for it. We were seated pretty quickly and our server came to get our drink order. There is a buffet of cold items such as cheese and salami slices and we went up to get that. Then the server brings out a pan of hot items such as scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, etc. It’s along the same idea as the O’hana breakfast. I found it to be very yummy and I loved the princesses! They have a “parade” of princesses go around the restaurant with the little kids. You should have seen all the little ones in their best dresses. It was so cute. Nope, I didn’t get a picture of it but I really should have. I thought the architecture of the building was amazing as well. So far, so good today.

Me and my favorite princess!!!

GEDC0978.jpg

GEDC0979.jpg

Yes honey, you are a Norwegian God!

Ok, now I don’t know why I had the urge to take a picture of the bathroom, but this is the second bathroom picture I took. Am I trying to tell myself something? Weird.

GEDC0984.jpg

We wandered over to the Land for our Soaring FP. While we were there, we decided to do Living with the Land. There was a line! Now admit it folks, when have you ever seen a line for the boat ride, huh? I’ve maybe seen a wait time for 10 minutes, but this one was 25 MINUTES!! REALLY? We waited, though, because I really do enjoy this ride. And, I knew it had something special for Peter ------ CHICKENS!!!! I told you guys I made it a point to seek out any chicken I could find! A nice pixie dust happening is that we got the front seat! Great photo opportunity right there!

GEDC0987.jpg

GEDC0988.jpg

GEDC0989.jpg

GEDC0990.jpg

GEDC0995.jpg

Then it was over to the Seas with Nemo and Friends! We rode in clamshells and spent time talking with Crush! We also spent time around the tanks. I love it in here!

GEDC1006.jpg

GEDC1013.jpg

Now you all remember those lovely canvas shoes we got for Victoria, right? Well, those were hurting her feet and she was refusing to walk in them anymore. We walked by the Electric Umbrella and low and behold there were Disney crocs in her size!!! Yay!! Didn’t like the price so much ---- $35.99, but hey, if it will get her to stop complaining, I’ll pay it!

GEDC1015.jpg

GEDC1016.jpg

At that time I was still pretty annoyed at her losing the croc. Oh, and I called Lost and Found and still no croc had turned up. I’m thinking it’s probably a part of the track now or melted. Oh well……Live and Learn, right? We did have to stop for these line jumpers!!!

GEDC1018.jpg

So cute!

We got to do the usual Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy, and Mission Space all without much wait at all. (FINALLY!!)

GEDC1039.jpg

GEDC1038.jpg

We then headed to World Showcase and was greeted by this little Cutie along the grass…

GEDC1049.jpg

We were able to catch street performers in England and made more use of our photopass opportunity.

GEDC1054.jpg

GEDC1062.jpg

We went back to use our Fast Pass for Soaring (I believe it was for 6:35pm). Yay! I love that ride! It is so relaxing!

GEDC1076.jpg

After Soaring I stopped at that little gift shop right by the bathrooms (sorry, no bathroom pic this time!) and bought 2 Mickey's Mini Garden plants. They are on my windowsill now. I love those little things. The one I bought last year is still going strong. We were exhausted by now (I know ---- it’s only 7:30pm for crying out loud!) so we claimed our space along the lagoon for Illuminations. Peter and Victoria went off to get some food to bring it back to our spot. I made some friends while waiting and of course the railing made an awesome tripod so my pictures came out pretty good!

GEDC1081.jpg

GEDC1082.jpg

GEDC1086.jpg

GEDC1087.jpg

GEDC1096.jpg

After the show we headed out to the busses and went to the resort for some shut eye. Thank goodness. I’m getting older now and just can’t keep up my usual commando-style!

I’m so happy that you liked Akershus! I didn’t realize they had the meats and cheeses available for breakfast as well. The restaurant looks so pretty!

GEDC0979.jpg

Yes honey, you are a Norwegian God!

Love the Norwegian god picture! I just noticed the LGMH on Peter’s shirt. Cool!

Hey, lots of people take bathroom pictures! It helps people like me who have to take a lot of tinkle breaks! We know what to expect in a particular bathroom! Is it weird that one of the reasons I like vacationing in WDW is because I know all of the restrooms will be clean? :lmao: I’m not even kidding about that! I am very particular about bathrooms! That is sweet that you kept searching out the chickens for Peter!

You look like you belong on The Price is Right! This is a cute pic!

This too!

This is a wonderful family photo!

This is fantastic! Your other pictures of Illuminations and of the ducks are great too! It looks like you had a really full day at EPCOT. No food porn, but I’ll forgive you this time :lmao: This TR is making me feel a lot better about our trip next year. I think August will be good for me and the kids. You and your family looked like you had a terrific time :goodvibes

BTW, I PMed you ;)

Tuesday, August 21 Hollywood Studios Day

Ahhhhhh….my favorite park. Oh, I’m going to love today…..I just know it! This was another one of those eat a snack for breakfast type of day and we were ready by about 8:30am to go down to the bus stop. Another relatively empty bus. Nice.

GEDC1102.jpg

GEDC1104.jpg

GEDC1106.jpg

We started our day over on Sunset Blvd to go grab a fast pass for ToT and get onto RnR. Remember how I said the bus was empty? Well, the park certainly wasn’t. I took this picture of the crowd by RnR just for you all to get an idea. I think the crowd calendar told me this was a GOOD day to be at HS!

GEDC1108.jpg

Can you believe this??? I certainly couldn’t! It ended up being a 45 minute wait for RnR in the standby line. Really? Peter said it turned from 20 to 45 minutes after we were already in the line. Great! But, Victoria and I both love this ride so to us it was worth the wait. There aren’t many attractions I would wait that long for.

GEDC1112.jpg

By the time we got off of RnR, our time was up to go on ToT! Yay! This is another one of my favorites. It was kind of disappointing this year as our favorite bellhop Keven no longer works at the Tower! So sad! He was awesome! I love the ride though. I could stay on and on and on this one! My favorite times are when you get a big first drop and then a bunch of little ones. I don’t like little ones all the way through. These were more photos I was able to get downloaded on the photopass plus. I don’t have the cd yet, or else I would post them. Maybe by the time I am done the report I will have it and can load them.

GEDC1117.jpg

After Tot, it was time for Beauty and the Beast. I ALWAYS CRY during this show. I just love it so much. I heard a rumor that they may be replacing it. Ugh! That would make me sad. We had really good seats and as always, I enjoyed the show. Even Peter seemed to be enjoying it, although this seems to be more of a chick show.

GEDC1118.jpg

GEDC1128.jpg

We then went to The American Idol experience. This is a must do for Victoria and this time she is old enough to audition! After we sat through the show, both of us went to audition. I sang Pat Benetar’s Hit Me with Your Best Shot and Victoria sang something from One Direction. Neither of us made it to round 2, but we had fun, anyways.

GEDC1131.jpg

GEDC1133.jpg

Now it was starting to get rainy a bit so we went to the Muppets and then Great Movie Ride. Ok, folks…..when is the line out the door for GMR??? Never that I remember, but yep, the line snaked around the side of the building into the side entrance. Hey, at least I got to see the queue which I’ve never seen before. I think the wait time was 25 minutes on this one. No pixie dust this time around as we had the usual gangster scene live action. Ok, well, I’m still good with that.

GEDC1138.jpg

GEDC1139.jpg

GEDC1140.jpg

GEDC1141.jpg

GEDC1142.jpg

Ok, this is a very silly picture of Victoria’s eye….
GEDC1149.jpg

Voyage of the Little Mermaid was next (yeah with a family sitting behind us that talked LOUDLY through the entire show and in another language). Please, people, don’t talk through the show. I would like to be able to hear it! After the show we still had about an hour until our Sci-Fi Diner ressies, but we wanted to get out of the rain and walk over anyways to see if they could take us early. Fortunately, they were able to and we walked right in. We got a car right smack in the middle which was perfect! My only request for this one next time is for a car where you face each other and not 2 people in front and 1 in the back. Peter loves those old film clips. That’s one of his favorite places that we eat at.

GEDC1156.jpg

GEDC1157.jpg

GEDC1160.jpg

Okay, Lisa, aka Mickeystoontown…….this next part is for you! Guess who I just had to absolutely see when we were there just because of your rockin’ video of your performance……

MULCH, SWEAT, and SHEARS!!! They were as awesome in person as they were in your video! I got to sing with them (take THAT American Idol!!!!) and Peter wasn’t willing to, so the lead singer came over and sat on his lap. Too funny!!! We loved them. They did a set of entirely Beatles songs. Now, I’m not a big Beatles fan, but I know the songs, so it was cool! They are a definite “not to be missed” performance…..oh, and so is Lisa’s video!

GEDC1166.jpg

GEDC1169.jpg

GEDC1170.jpg

Victoria wanted to see the finale show of AME, so off we went. Then it was time for another good night’s sleep. This was, by far, my favorite day so far!!!

I’m glad you had such a great HS day, Ann! That picture of Peter and Victoria is adorable! I hope you frame that one too! I really hope they don’t replace Beauty and the Beast! Especially since the kids and I haven’t even seen it yet! You and Victoria are so brave to audition for American Idol! I used to love “Hit Me with Your Best Shot”.

Enjoying your report and have subscribed!

Thank you and :welcome:

Thanks for the link! Now I just have to learn how to sew! I like your short sleeves better than the long, skinny sleeves on the instructions. It seems like the long sleeves would make your arms feel all hot, sweaty and restricted. Well, if you do tweek your poncho a little bit more, please post it again!

I thought long sleeves would be too hot as well. I like the sleeves (or lack there of) on mine! Ok, Erin, do you even own a sewing machine???? :lmao:

Any chance your Kilimanjaro Safari driver was Rebekah? Our daughter drove that day and reported that day she got soaking wet from the rain.

Hi Dave!!! Nope, we had a guy for a driver that day. How cool is it that your daughter works in Disney! Awesome!

Joining in the fun! So far sounds like you have had an interesing trip.
My DD is the same way with her phone, I actually had to threaten to call T-Mobile and disable her data plan when we were there in April!!! I may just do that next year....:rolleyes1

Thanks!!! I looked for you (and all the other August Dis'ers but couldn't find anyone this trip. Bummer....:worried:

I've discovered on this trip that I'm just not a food porn type of girl. I am more concerned with getting the food in my mouth than to take pictures of it. I promise to try harder next trip. Yes, that's my Peter --- the God (or so he thought!) :lmao: We really did have a good day in Epcot and I do think that August will be great for you & the kids. :goodvibes

I’m glad you had such a great HS day, Ann! That picture of Peter and Victoria is adorable! I hope you frame that one too! I really hope they don’t replace Beauty and the Beast! Boy, Erin, that was a quick response....are you stalking me????? ;) I will try out for AME every year until they pick me, so I think they better pick me soon!!!

I am totally stalking you! Can’t you tell! :lmao: It doesn’t help that I am bored at work

Well, write more of your PTR!! I worked on my spreadsheet today with crowd calendar info and would you believe the only overlapping day we would have (based on this very preliminary plan) is on 8/27 in Magic Kingdom??? Crazy, huh? :confused3

Well, MK would be a fitting place for a DISmeet! I was almost done with my new post when a bunch of stuff got dropped in my mailbox! Ugh! Don’t they know I am Dising right now? :lmao: I’m trying to get my post up soon because I probably won’t have time this weekend.

Wednesday, August 22nd Break Day!!!
(aka Laundry Day!)

dscn0077.jpg

I was up and ready to go by 9am. I had put on my swimsuit and got my laundry bag together. I have one of those pop-up hamper things so I just put it with the dirty clothes in it into my rolling suitcase (hey, dirty laundry is heavy!) and headed to the Jamaica section quiet pool and laundry area. I had one load of each darks and whites so I put them in and went to sit by the pool. Well, it was rather hot just sitting there, so into the pool I went! Ah, heaven! They have jets on the floor which I put my poor, aching and blistered feet on. Yep, this is the first year I ever got a blister walking around Disney! I don’t know why as I had my sneakers well broken in. Maybe they just got too hot, I don’t know. Oh, that water felt soooo good! Peter comes along and finds me and sits on the side of the pool and dangles his feet in. I swear unless a pool’s water is 90 degrees, he thinks it’s cold! Whatever dude! We finally had some alone time to talk about Victoria and her behavior (ie the internet). I explained how disappointed I was in her and how I missed her so much! She’s always on that damned phone or computer it was making me really sad. I missed my little girl….the one who thinks her Mama is just the bomb, baby! She’s like that when she’s not on the internet. I said that she isn’t even here in the pool when she could be because of it. She loves pools and she should be taking advantage of it before it rains!

Nothing was really resolved but Peter did go back to the room and talk with her. I don’t know what was said, but after I went to put the clothes from the washer to the dryer, Victoria and Peter had returned and Victoria had her swimsuit on. We stayed in the pool for about an hour and then it was time for me to fold up the laundry and get ready for lunch.

Yeah baby! Love me some Mulch Sweat & Shears! I am so glad that you got to see them perform and were able to get in on the act too!

It sounds like ya'll had a great time at Hollywood Studios despite the fact that the darn line for Rock -n Roller Coaster turned out to be longer than you expected.

If you gotta do laundry while on vacation, there's no better spot to do it than at the CBR quiet pool.

Wednesday continued...

GEDC1176.jpg

GEDC1196.jpg

We had ressies for Planet Hollywood in DTD at 1pm. Victoria absolutely loves that place. I’m not really sure why, but she does. There’s a lot of stuff from the movies in there and they are constantly playing music on the big screen which Peter and I both feel is really loud. Again, I’m not a big food porn picture taker, so I apologize for the lack of that. I’ll work on it for next trip.

GEDC1181.jpg

GEDC1182.jpg

GEDC1185.jpg

And here is another bathroom shot ---- yep, the mirrors in Planet Hollywood are part of a giant pair of sunglasses.

GEDC1186.jpg

We did a little shopping afterwards and I picked up my box of Potato Head parts. It’s fill a box for $20, so I was having fun. Peter and Victoria sat in a corner and were reading a book. Whatever. Just leave me to my part picking!

GEDC1203.jpg

oh, and lookie here…….another picture of Victoria on her iphone. What a surprise!!

GEDC1207.jpg

Thursday, August 23rd – MAGIC KINGDOM DAY

GEDC1223.jpg

This was our second MK day to basically get done anything we hadn’t gotten to the first day. The crowd calendar didn’t suggest going to MK this day, but I really wanted to, so that was the plan. It actually wasn’t bad at all crowd-wise. Not like at the other parks throughout the week that were suggested! We hopped onto the train and headed to Frontierland.

GEDC1226.jpg

We got a fast pass for Splash Mountain as it was currently broken down and then headed over to BTMR. The line wasn’t bad at all for this one, so we were glad. I love all the rollercoasters! We were all getting hungry around this time so we went to Pinocchio’s for an early lunch.

GEDC1236.jpg

GEDC1232.jpg

GEDC1234.jpg

Victoria had a great time waving to people on IASM and having them wave back. It made her get out of the snarly mood she was in! Thank goodness. Oh Peter and I had the flatbread pizza (wicked yummy!!!) and I think it was nuggets and fries for the snarly one!

After lunch, it was time to use our Spash fastpass. Yay, it was up and running when we went back! I love walking through the fastpass line while the standby line is not moving. It’s awesome!

GEDC1239.jpg

I must admit we were really tired this day and basically walked around more than anything else. When we went to IASM I imagined the dolls coming to life as the did in the first book of Kingdom Keepers. It was kind of freaky!

GEDC1268.jpg

GEDC1271.jpg

GEDC1272.jpg

GEDC1277.jpg

We meandered back towards Tomorrowland and guess who we ran into that I had never met before…

IT’S PUSH!!!! Omg!!!!! So we had a nice conversation and a hug and then he asked Victoria to be his girlfriend and she agreed. I loved this interaction. I considered this a bit of pixie dust! It was just a surprise to meet him! Peter didn’t know what the heck was going on as I never told him about PUSH so he was all confused! Too funny!!

GEDC1280.jpg

GEDC1281.jpg

We were able to hit Carousel of Progress, People Mover and Space Mountain another time and then it was time to go to our ressie at the Whispering Canyon Café at the Wilderness Lodge. Now I had read about the interaction of the restaurant and was looking forward to it. We were seated in a back room ---- away from all the action? Really? C’mon! I came here for the fun and nope we get a quiet room with 4 other families. Ugh! Oh, the food was good, but I was just disappointed as it wasn’t the experience I read about. A really nice thing that happened was that since it was our anniversary, we were given champagne. (which Peter doesn’t drink, but I sure as heck do!! Yummy!!!!)

GEDC1294.jpg

GEDC1295.jpg

This server was giving Victoria a hard time about having her cell phone out during dinner…

GEDC1298.jpg

GEDC1303.jpg

GEDC1305.jpg

GEDC1307.jpg

It was then back to MK! This time we went to Monsters Inc Laugh Floor. Here’s another Pixie Dust moment ---- Peter was chosen to be THAT GUY!!! OMG we had such a good time during this show. It was amazing! The CM gave him a sticker that says “I was that guy”. What I’m planning on doing is scanning this sticker and making a t-shirt for Peter for next trip! I’m so excited for this. I even have the transfer sheets and t-shirts already!

GEDC1318.jpg

GEDC1317.jpg

We did a few more things and were going to stay for Wishes but it was at 9:30pm instead of 8:30pm. Ugh. None of use could wait that long as we were so tired! Here I am with my light-up Mickey headband on the People Mover…

GEDC1319.jpg

And some pictures from the PM…

GEDC1321.jpg

GEDC1322.jpg

GEDC1325.jpg

So, that was our last day at Magic Kingdom for this year……..

What a fun first few days! We went in August one year and won't ever do it again! It wasn't too back but, given the option of going in the fall/winter or winter/spring we would rather go either of those times!

Lines suck. I'm NOT a fan! HA!

How awesome what they did at Whispering Canyon! We really enjoyed it when we ate there last year. No "fun" stuff for us either though :confused3

Friday, August 24th Hollywood Studios Day #2

GEDC1326.jpg

The first thing I really wanted to hit today was the Backlot Studio Tour since we missed it on the first day. Once we got in to the area with the water bombs, they only showed us how they worked. There were no live action players (volunteers) at all. What??!! Why not? Ok, fine, so it was off to the tram. It’s kind of disappointing for the first part not to be played out like I know it can be. Just another little disappointment during this trip. I know, I know….get over it already! Look at all the pixie dust we had! So, every trip since Victoria was 6 I have the same picture of her on the left side of the tram during the “explosion and subsequent water tank brake”…

GEDC1336.jpg

GEDC1337.jpg

OH, look Peter found something he liked

GEDC1346.jpg

We got out of the Tour and ran into these guys! I was so excited!

GEDC1348.jpg

GEDC1349.jpg

GEDC1350.jpg

It’s off for more ToT rides for Victoria and I. I just love all the details in that queue. So cool!

GEDC1354.jpg

GEDC1356.jpg

GEDC1357.jpg

GEDC1358.jpg

Oh, can anyone see this little detail in this picture? Yes, that’s correct --- Victoria’s iphone! Can you imagine? You know I haven’t even kept count of how may iphone pictures I got. That can be your mission as readers ---- count how many photos I took of Victoria and her iphone. Go!

We did more of the usual stuff --- GMR, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, etc.

GEDC1382.jpg

GEDC1384.jpg

We also went to the Animation Studio to watch the presentation. We didn’t attend the drawing class, though.

GEDC1394.jpg

My two little angels…..
GEDC1395.jpg

Our dinner ressies were for 50’s Prime Time Café at 5:15pm. We loved this place the last time we were here. Last year we had such a wonderful server named Janice. She was awesome. This time around we had Dave. Dave didn’t scold us whatsoever and that’s half of the fun right there. No fair. Again, we didn’t have the experience we were looking forward to. Maybe I should have asked for a more playful server, but really, we shouldn’t have to do that!

GEDC1396.jpg

The food was excellent as always and the dessert was to die for. Mine was a brownie type sundae. Yumm! As we were leaving the restaurant, this is what we encountered:

GEDC1399.jpg

GEDC1400.jpg

POURING, POURING, POURING!!! Here’s the one and only time I used MY IPHONE!! I checked the Weather Channel app to see if this was a quickie shower or if was going to end soon. Fortunately, it looked to be lasting only 15 more minutes, so I didn’t mind waiting 15 minutes under the awning for it to be over. Sure enough, it cleared right up and we were good for the rest of the evening. We weren’t going to stay for Fantastic, so we headed out a little while later. We didn’t see Indiana Jones this year either.

As we were leaving the park, as usual, I cried… bye HS for another year. I love you and will miss you….

I am so glad I am not the only one who cries when they leave the parks for the last time. I can't help it I feel it coming on.....I also have to say out loud good bye until next time and wave as we are pulling away in the bus. Towards the end of our trips I stay so emotional....oh who am I kidding I am emotional when we get there too!:rotfl2:
