July 25, 2012 Such a sad, depressing day. But it was sunny and beautiful and other people were just starting their vacations. This trip was much too short!
Last morning at WDW. Goodbye WDW!

Pre-Trip information for the trip that will not be happening... :(
Some info
Some info with PICTURES! LOL Because I'm me... LOL

Yes, this trip is the trip we took to make up for our trip to Disneyland in March. We said it didn't count because we found it too cold! We loved Disneyland, and California, the people, the hotel, everything. We just were bad Canadians who didn't like the cold!

If you haven’t read my other trip reports, you’re welcome to do so to learn a little more about me and my sister and our friend. We go by the Golden Girls and call ourselves Blanche, Rose and Dorothy. In real life, we alternate by our attitudes/behaviors, but for the trip reports, I am always Dorothy, Rose is always my sister (who didn’t get to come on the last two trips!) and Rose’s sister in law is always Blanche.

I am Dorothy, long time, big time Disney fan and I’m currently a French Immersion kindergarten teacher. Between pre-service teaching, full time classrooms and short term contracts, I’ve taught every grade between K-12 (French Immersion or Core French) except for grades one and six, although I’ve covered both for a sub day here or there). I love taking pictures, traveling, reading, (and more) and I come from a huge family. I have 9 siblings and 16 nieces and nephews so far. I really wish the tag fairy would find me with something fun.

This is me in at Disneyland in March 2012. (The trip that we need to make up for the cold, right?)

Untitled by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

This is Blanche. She’s the oldest of the three of us (only two for this trip). She is a paediatric nurse and also has nine siblings. I’m sure she has tons of nieces and nephews, but I don’t know the exact number. We share 2 nieces and 2 nephews though. She loves to travel and to read, but she doesn’t take pictures. Unfortunately, about 2 years ago, she hurt her hip and it still hasn’t healed, so she can’t do as many rides as she’d like. About 2 weeks before the trip, she broke her foot. Yep. Disney with a sore hip, and then a broken foot. Sore right hip. Broken left foot. Think about it! But we still went, with plans for many breaks. We went to Disneyland in March (trip report is in my signature), but we found it really, really cold. So we said that the trip could not count! We like hot weather… We loved Disneyland, but we were freezing most of the time. (We can get that here! We don’t need it on vacation in March).

Here we both are, to show you just how cold it was:

You can read my TR if you want to read about the cold, but amazing trip, here is the link. I want to go back to DL, but I will do that in the summer, thank you very much!!!

July 18, Part 1: On the way!

I always start my other trip reports writing really fun, but then slow down in the end and just post pictures. So this time, I’ll just start with a back story and mostly pictures and we’ll see what happens!

As is tradition, my nephew, who is now 17, but was 12 when I took him to Disney, spent the night at my place and came with us to the airport. Rose drove Dorothy to my house to pick us up, and we were at the airport. We went to the washroom before security and I met a Diser! She noticed my sweater, or my t-shirt, or my watch, or my earrings, or my ring, or my shoes! Hahaha. I can’t remember. I wrote down her Disname, but I can’t find where I wrote it! It was soos (and some numbers) or suze (and some numbers). So if you’re reading, it was lovely to meet you!

We went through security and Blanche had a Rose moment and realized she forgot her sunglasses in her car. The real Rose and my nephew had already gone, so she called them, and they would come back. I told one of the security people what happened when I saw my sister and they said to let her just put the glasses on the belt and I would pick them up on the other side. No need to go through security again! Small PEI airport has definite benefits! (besides being about 3 minutes from home!)

Oops! by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

So we really had an uneventful flight. I think we were a little delayed, because we were not the only ones worried about our connection. Blanche got a wheelchair and held my carryon bag on her lap, (I packed light and had a little tote as a carryon) and I kept my slingback camera bag on my back, pushed the wheelchair and rolled her carryon too. Thank goodness we were flying through Montreal and we didn’t need to get our checked bags. We had met a couple from PEI that were on the same flight, and they sped off ahead of us, but we somehow made it through customs before them. The gentleman ended up sitting beside me on the flight. We were talking about his job (fisheries and environment) and then somehow we ended up talking faith and that both Blanche and I were single… Not sure how that all happened, but he was friendly. He offered to pray for us that we’ll find our matches and said that sometimes it takes as little as three hours. The whole trip long we kept saying “our three hours have past!” I’m not belittling his Faith or anything else, I actually thought it was sweet that he was going to pray for us. It was the time frame that got us giggling. So we chatted through parts of the flight, I made Blanche watch the first episode of Once Upon a Time, and I watched the first two (again!).

Before we knew it, we saw this sign:

Magical Express 1 by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

I don’t think we waited 5 minutes to get on our bus, in fact, I think we just walked right on from the time we entered the line. We were also the first stop off the bus, and we were at our resort and checked in within an hour and 15 minutes of landing.

I love getting “real” DME buses!

DME 2 by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

See Blanche’s boot? It was not easy for her to climb the stairs.

I really have to buy me some Mickey hands next time!

*sigh* Palm trees.

Blanche was probably sore. I was extremely happy, and I can’t help but show it!

Getting closer! (One day I’ll be able to get an awesome shot of this without the big line in the middle and the windshield wipers!)

Yay! 2 by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

Sorry… I photoshopped the bug guts out in the other ones, but these next few it was right in the way…

Yay! 3 by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

And I know that is a lot of pictures for the sign, but we all know how much we love to see this sign! (If you don’t, you’re on the wrong discussion board and you may as well stop reading my Trip Report Right away because you’ll be seeing a lot of pictures you won’t like if this sign doesn’t make you happy!)

Someone on here once mentioned how much they loved the moss at POR because it made them feel like they were there in FL, so I took a picture for them.

Part 2: Port Orleans Riverside

Our room was ready!

We were in a water view room in Acadian House, on the ground floor. Room 8071, which is ground floor, with a pool within hearing distance, but you can’t see it because of the shrubbery. No biggie though, that wasn’t too important, the ground floor and being in Magnolia Bend was the most important to us.

The walk to our room:

Room 1 by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

It took less than 8 minutes to walk to our room. (And find it. I think we went the long way around the first time, walking slowly and taking pictures too, right?) So I snapped some pictures as we dropped off our things. We then went to grab a bite to eat as we were hungry.

Our first lizard. It’s funny, I wouldn’t be thrilled at seeing a lizard here, but in Florida, I love it, mostly because it means I’m in Florida!!!

The top ½ was really good. The bottom was way too greasy and most of the spinach landed at the bottom. And I didn’t like the chicken. I like chicken breast in things, not the dark meat, so I decided I would not get chicken the next time, because really, the rest of it was delicious!

Pasta 2 by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

Blanche got the adult chicken fingers that we’ve had many times. She said they were awesome as usual.

Chicken nuggets by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

We bought the QSDP, because we love the convenience of it. We tend to eat more food when we’re on it, because we wouldn’t normally be getting desserts with every meal. We got waters to drink in the parks later on and we got something in our mugs as well. Blanche got grapes for her dessert and I said I’d get an ice cream cone, but I lost my receipt in the store when I bought a new lanyard. Oh well. I knew we’d be eating a volcano at Rainforest Café later on, so I wasn’t too concerned! LOL

The couple ahead of us was really sweet. They had asked us questions about how many times we’d been here and what to do and things like that. It turns out that she used to be a cast member (she said a LONG time ago when she was a student or something) at Disneyland! I liked them! I think they got off at POFQ.

Nine! That's a huge group to me in Disney terms. No so much in real life terms... that's just my siblings! :rotfl:

Very true! But she pushed and went on lots of rides, but did take lots of breaks too.

Part 6: On the way to Downtown Disney

POR 71 by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

In 2009, we’d stayed at POFQ. I loved it there too! But I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I’ve loved every one of the six Disney hotels I’ve been to!

Port Orleans French Quarter 1 by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

POR 72 by disneyfreak0306, on Flickr

In case you have never stayed at either Port Orleans resort, the boat goes from Riverside to French Quarter and anyone not going to DTD gets off there. Then it goes to DTD and everyone has to get off. It goes from DTD to French Quarter where anyone that wants to go to Riverside can get on. When it gets to Riverside, everyone gets off again. They only let a certain number of people on at Riverside so that more can get on at French Quarter too.

In 2010, I was staying at All Star Movies and I wanted to go to Mass, so I took a bus from DHS (where I was) to French Quarter to take the boat to DTD. (It’s cheaper to take a cab from DTD than the All Stars). The boat driver was asking all kinds of trivia questions and everyone kept guessing wrong. I’d wait a few minutes and then answer the question. At the end of the ride, the boat captain told the guests on the boat that we all sucked basically! LOL He said something along the lines of “If this young lady hadn’t been here, you wouldn’t have gotten ANYTHING right!” The only question I didn’t know was the names of Daisy’s three nieces. But then he gave the clue “Three months of the year, in a row.” And I knew it right off. He then asked me if I worked for Disney. When I said no, he said “Do you want to? They’re always hiring!”

It was the same captain, and I remembered him so well that I asked him for a picture. He was sweet and obliged.

I love the pictures of the rocks, and the ropes and such. Those are the photos that I take for my phone back grounds and such. I really enjoy them.

That is a combined family trip. Our family minus one, my BFFs daughter(to replace my minus one), my moms BFF and her grandkids, one of which is my sons BFF.
