My son is a huge Beatles fan. I'm looking for an appropriate quote to use in the ad we place in his yearbook. What do you think of this one? Is it appropriate?

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Can anyone think of something better?

I am a big Beatles fan too! and of course I hear "Lovely Rita" all the time.
But isnt Blackbird a Wings song?
My favorit quote is "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make".
BTW, I do love the song Blackbird.
What is your sons fave song?
:hippie:

The blackbird song I hear him play is definitely the Beatles. I believe it was on their White Album? I could be wrong, though. As for his favorite song, that changes almost weekly. He has all of their songs and plays them all quite a bit. Last November when we were in WDW he won some weird challenge they had in the UK store in EPCOT by answering all of the Beatles questions correctly. The woman who was working at that particular spot said she couldn't remember the last time someone had known all the answers to the questions, as some of them were quite obscure.

I haven't told him I want to put anything Beatles into my yearbook ad, so I don't really wanna tip him off by asking too many questions. What to do.....what to do.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with something from Let it Be for graduation.

*“Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.”

DH loves Blackbird. It makes me sad, but I suppose that's how you're feeling!?

Remarkably, I'm not to the sad point yet. It's his senior year and I'm a little nostalgic, but not all the way to sad yet. I keep telling myself that he is ready.....its time to prepare for the next step in his life and college is something that neither his dad nor I had the privilege of doing. I'm really, truly excited for him! He is so looking forward to college that I thought the phrases "you have always waited for this moment to arrive" and "you have always waited for this moment to be free" seemed appropriate. I just wasn't sure about the broken wings part of it. I guess it's not a literal statement and we can take it to mean whatever we want.

I do love Let It Be.....its probably my favorite Beatles song. Oh, I gotta figure this out and get it sent into the school. Too many choices.

Ah...excuse my armchair psychology...is that his feeling or yours? Not being able to go to college may feel as though *your* wings were clipped...do you think he feels that way? Not trying to get too deep, it's obviously a difficult time (I am *so* not looking forward to six years from now), but you've given him an amazing gift by getting him to college. You must be *so* proud! Bah, I'm getting teary. I'm sure he'll adore whatever you decide to put in the yearbook, I can't wait to hear what you decide.

Are you available for daily appointments? I've got so many other issues that need fixing and I'm willing to pay in scrapping supplies!

Thanks, maybe you're right. I took the phrases to mean that no matter what may have already happened, you can start again from today. Might need to go with something else. Why is this so hard? Wanna say the right thing and not totally embarrass him. Delicate balance between cool and embarrasing!

Funny, that's how I take "Let it be." No matter what's happened in the past, or what's happening in the future, it will happen, so let it.

I hope I haven't offended you...not my intent at all! It's all about how *you* feel, not my opinion!

And please, no matter what you pick, he'll be embarrassed at first. It will take a few years, but he'll figure out you're pretty cool

Stepping in late and here totally have no advise.... but I'm curious. Is he starting Senior year now? And they need to have yearbook stuff already?? WOW!

Anyhow, have you tried googling Beatles lyrics? Or maybe any famous quotes from any of the band members? Just a thought. I've been compiling a short list of songs to use for a project for DD's graduation next year. I figured if I didn't start writing them down NOW as I think of them, I would forget them ALL by next spring! :rotfl:

Best of luck with the project..................P

So, I know its been a while since I started this thread, but I realized I never posted what I wrote to him. In case you are interrested:

Ty,
You are smart, you are strong, you are loved, and you are ready. Strive not to be a man of sucess, but a man of value. If you can do this everthing else will fall into place.
The only thing left to say is......Let It Be.
All our love,
Mom, Dad, Nick & Nate
PS: Always remember to call your mother!

We had to submit our Senior PDA by Dec 1. We had to secure our spot ASAP.. first come, first to get a spot.. needless to say..the moment she emailed I grabbed my spot at our high school and submitted our money the following day... They only have so many spots open in our book...

Senior pictures were this morning and the sadness finally hit me. My baby is a senior....for real. No turning back now.....our days as things are now are numbered. The guys at work think I've fallen off my rocker (as my mom would say). They just don't understand. All boys at home.....all boys at work. You gals are my only female support today. :sad1:

Men!

I realized the other day that the second half of Morgan's (primary) school career is underway. She's in 7th grade. Before I know it, it will be 2017 and she'll be starting her senior year. :(

Beautiful note to DS! Whether he admits it now or not, I'm sure he will love it.

My DD (oldest child) is a Senior this year as well. Everything we are approaching this fall is with the thought of "this is your last ____________ before you're gone!" I could find a new excuse to cry nearly every day! .............P

Our info had to be in by Aug. 30th. We were only allowed one size and it only included one picture, so not much to work with. I sent it in a sealed envelope, so I hope he didn't get nosy and open it. I would like for it to be a surprise.

Time goes so quickly. I'm trying to slow down and do the things with the boys that they want me to do, when they want me to do it. The laundry and dishes can wait. I won't have little ones forever. My 7 year old is really helping me through the process.

I can commiserate. I was sure I would be Ok with all of this. Turns out NOT SO MUCH! :lmao:

You're so right...No one ever says "I wish I worked more" on their death bed. Sometimes we need a reminder. Thank you.
