City, Sand, and Savanna - Link to new trip report

First off yes 0 Judys :lmao:

Wow, you live in NC and are more prone to saying youse guys than y'all? Be careful or they'll start telling "northerner" jokes about you!

I remember moving to NC and finding out there were all these "northerner" jokes that I had no idea were being told all this time..

Let's see - Darn Yankee- We stay. Half back, Moved the Fl and then half way back . :lmao:

The " I don't care how you did it up North... " :rotfl2:

Hey everybody, pray that the rain holds off tonight -- Marlene have something really boss to go to. Otherwise, we'll be waitin' on a sunny day!

Fun intermission! We have something similar over the holidays and my attempts at pictures were disastrous.

Thanks! Yeah, you have to use a tripod. Like I said, even with the monopod there was a little sway back and forth and just couldn't get clear pictures when you have to leave the shutter open for seconds at a time.

I have really got to learn to use the manual settings on my camera...I think the fact that the iphone takes decent pictures has not helped me progress in that area.

True, the iPhone makes it so easy. I learned apertures and stuff on a Pentax K-1000 back in the day...all manual, but I needed a refresher when I got this Canon a couple of years ago because I'd been using a point-and-shoot for so long.

I'm following you....:rotfl:
:yay: :cool1:

Wow, interesting and beautiful lights...........but 0 Judy's

Very creative and ingeneous way to use the flashlight app on your phone to be able to get yourself in those pictures! Glad you thought ahead to have the tripod with you. The reflections in the water, and the fountain pic are :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks, it was more of a case of "I have to go back with a tripod" than thinking ahead.

I had fun playing around with the camera and flashlight app.

Lordy he beats me to it 0 judy's was my answer unless you count the LIGHT in Glenn's eye:confused3;):lmao:

She does light up my life. Man, I wouldn't have guessed in a million years that there would've been a Debby Boone reference on my thread!

4 Glenns !!!!!!!

That sounds about right.

Glenn that was some amazing photography!!!

Aw thanks Rosie.

Wow, that's really cool!! Great pictures!

Thank you Sara!

Very interesting update :) you are a very talented photographer, much more than me ;)

Thanks but like so many things, I just know enough to be dangerous really.

Glenn, What an awesome job on the lights. I need to be more patient when taking pictures.

I have a compact monopod that actually made it to Disney once but never left the room.

Someday I suppose, someday. :rolleyes1

Wow, beautiful pictures! Neat trick with the iphone to get your picture included. I love all the different light colors.

Glenn, I LOVE the intermission. Great job on the photos...you have a nice talent there.

Beautiful pictures! We didn't make it up to Longwood for the lights, but I hope they do it again next year. Looks pretty amazing.

Great pictures from Longwood Gardens! I've said several times I wanted to visit, and my brother and sister-in-law live within a half-hour from there, but every time I visit them, we seem to make other plans.

Wow, what a beautiful event! And wonderful pictures!! Thanks for sharing them!

Caught up on your last two updates this morning. The ladies look like they had a wonderful "last supper" in Chinatown. That food looks so authentic. Yum. And how kind of them to give away their leftovers. Glad they had a wonderful trip and an uneventful ride home.

Is Hamilton the best station to park at when taking the train? I think that's the one I have heard about, but I'm not sure.

Your pictures at Longwood Gardens are wonderful. Now I really want to go see that display. Its funny how I usually only find myself at Longwood during the Christmas holidays. I really need to branch out and go during the other seasons. Those displays looks amazing.

Impressive camera work! My camera expertise is pretty much hope it is inside the little sqare and push the button. :rotfl2::rotfl:

Thank you! I think you have to have something in mind, otherwise yes, you will never take it out of the room. And it makes sense, you don't want to be carrying those things around an amusement park for no reason. This year since we were driving, and there was plenty of room for "stuff", I threw both the tripod and monopod into the van when we left for Disney. I didn't have plans for the tripod, but ended up using it more (around Kidani) than I did the monopod.

Thanks Vanessa. The colors were beautiful, but I should have mentioned about the meadow area -- they have music playing so it's very relaxing in a multi-sensory kind of way. Wow, did I just say that?

Glenn, I LOVE the intermission. Great job on the photos...you have a nice talent there.

Thank you Kathy. I'm glad you enjoyed the intermission!

It goes until Sep. 29th, but don't think about going this Saturday, I hear that you're busy.

I bet they'll try to do something similar next year, it looks like it was a huge success. We commented that the crowds (at some narrow-path areas going from one exhibit to another) made us think of Disney.

Great pictures from Longwood Gardens! I've said several times I wanted to visit, and my brother and sister-in-law live within a half-hour from there, but every time I visit them, we seem to make other plans.

You'll have to make a point of it! It's one of those places that we don't get to very often, but when we do we say "why don't we come here more often?" I got a family year-long membership a month ago because we were taking a visitor to it during the day, and I knew we'd want to come back to see the lights. Since there were several of us and multiple trips, it was actually cheaper to get the membership. So it was no cost for me to go back one more time to get some better pictures. And, we'll be able to go at Christmastime, which is MEK's favorite time to visit.

I'm glad you liked them Magdalene! Thanks.

Yeah, I think it was about as authentic as you can get. They found their way there and back without too much difficulty or drama.

Is Hamilton the best station to park at when taking the train? I think that's the one I have heard about, but I'm not sure.

I think so, but not from personal experience....a guy I work with suggested it. It worked really well for Judy and Lauren. You can get "commuter" prices there, whereas if you catch the train in Wilmington, DE, it's a lot more expensive.

You would go crazy there, photographing every petal and leaf! :rotfl2: You really do need to go, but like I told Mark, not this Saturday.

Impressive camera work! My camera expertise is pretty much hope it is inside the little sqare and push the button. :rotfl2::rotfl:

Thanks Andy. It was a fun excursion.

I love all the lights! So very cool!

:) Thanks Cheri!

Thanks for once again sharing the beauty of Longwood Gardens with us! Great pictures!

It's like a mini-World of Color!

I never knew they did the lights like that at Longwood Gardens. So pretty!

Wow Longwood Gardens is beautiful. I love a pretty place to walk round, and am very lucky to live a stones throw from some fantastic places myself. Lots of historical houses and halls etc with amazing gardens, I even have a castle in my village which is quite cool :)
