Although this is not official Disney fine dining... it can be the preface to our dining line up!!

We were flying from OC (CA) to Orlando and were fortunate enough to be flying first class so a meal is included. yay!!!

I’m sure many of you remember when airlines served hot meals during flights and although the food was never that good, it was at least served and you were not charged extra. So I was looking forward to seeing what type of food would be served for breakfast. We were offered a choice of a quiche or cereal. Hmmm…. Tough choice….. choose what I can eat any morning or a hot delicious breakfast? We all chose the quiche. You could smell it “cooking” in the galley and it smelled soooo good. They must have an easy bake oven up front since they weren’t nuked.

Our flight attendant provided hot towels to freshen up with before the meal. I made proper use of mine; however, Michael & Emily took the opportunity to do the following - see the video link here.

We were presented a linen laden tray that contained our hot entrée and a side of fresh fruit. The quiche was served with grilled asparagus and a roasted breaded tomato. We were also offered a fresh baked biscuit and fresh OJ.

I’m not sure if it was just that I was so hungry but this meal was delicious. The quiche had a great texture and flavor and didn’t have a soggy crust like so many frozen quiches. It was the perfect start for our vacation dining! I have to say that as thrilled as I was with the quiche, the asparagus was way overcooked and limp. The tomato was just ok, nothing special. However, my favorite part of the meal was the fresh baked biscuit… it was light and buttery and sooooo wonderful! I was looking to see if Michael and Em were going to eat their biscuit because if they weren’t I was going to swoop in and nab it! Darn! They liked it as much as me.

Cheers to fresh OJ:

Next Up: Lunch

I may as well keep going tonight since this will get us to the actual WDW Dining part of our trip.

Let's start with a real cocktail pre-flight. May I introduce you to my Bloody Mary!

For this flight segment we were offered hot salted nuts as a starter. Mmmmm….I may or may not have eaten all of Em’s cashews as well.

For our entrees, we were offered a choice of a toasted roast beef sandwich or a southwest chicken salad with creamy cilantro dressing. Em chose the sandwich and I selected the salad. Both choices were served with a bag of pita chips and hummus. For those of us of the drinking age, we were offered a glass of wine – a merlot thanks!

Southwest Chicken Salad:

Both Em and Michael said that the sandwich was not that great – it tasted a bit odd. And it didn't even look like what you would expect to see for a roast beef sandwich. I can't recall what type of bread this had but it didn't help the sandwich. I had the opposite experience with my salad. It was awesome. I wasn’t expecting it to taste so fresh and for the chicken to actually be perfectly cooked seasoned chicken breast strips. I loved the freshness of the cilantro! It was so good. While I was picking the last piece of grated cheese out of the bottom of my bowl, Em and Michael were pushing their half finished sandwich aside. They did serve fresh baked blueberry-white chocolate chunk cookies that were delicious!! I loved the fresh blueberry flavor combined with one of my favorite cookie types - white chocolate!! Oh my, I was so happy with my meal.

Fresh Baked Cookie - so yummy!

And one last photo.... I was excited to drink from an actual GLASS for my diet coke:

Next Up: Actual Disney food!!

Joining in! Can't wait for your reviews (not that your AA flight meals weren't just reviewed, but you know what I mean, right?)!

Yay for airline food that isn't completely terrible! I would be very happy with your lunch, and that cookie sounds fantastic. :goodvibes

Prior to this job I used to work in HR for an airline and we flew standby. If there were seats available in first class we would get an automatic upgrade. I sure miss those days! :rotfl: I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your meals, drinks and real glassware!

Yay for airline food that isn't completely terrible!

I second that! :thumbsup2 Although it has been quite awhile since I've had airline food...terrible or otherwise. Well, unless you count a tiny bag of peanuts, that is. And actually on my last flight returning from Orlando, we didn't even get that. :worried:

Oh, and I have to ask. Did you get any strange looks for taking pictures of your food and drinks on the plane? :lmao: Now to any of us, we would have found it perfectly normal, perhaps even mandatory. And in fact, some of us even have our family trained. During our meeting with Linda, my kids asked if they could start eating the cheesecakes or if I needed to take a picture first...which of course, I did. ;) :rotfl:

I have never eaten a meal on an airplane, however, maybe that has something to do with the fact that whenever possible I refuse to fly. ;)

How long was your flight, that you got two yummy meals!! :cool1:

P.S., loved your photo story!! Awesome!!!

Thanks! I see that you also have an upcoming trip - wonderful!!! You are a former cast member??? Can you share if you worked attractions or did you use your singing talent to entertain?? Thanks for joining!

A princess never reveals her secrets but I have been known to entertain a crowd and I do favor a certain mermaid. ;) We do have a trip coming up very soon. 51 days! Whoot!! Can't wait to drown, er, I mean, immerce my boyfriend in the wonderful world that is Disney. lol He's not a convert...yet. :stir:
