Concierge/Club Level Information- Part IV, July 2012

Hopefully it's not true. That would put a big kink in my plans. And really, it doesn't make sense, since you can use all other resort facilities (pool, etc...) until midnight that day...:confused3

I also hope it's not true. For those staying CL, it's no different than using the pool or any other amenities after check out. I think it would be a bad move on Disney's part to change that as there are alot of people that utilize the lounge much later than check out time as it is a nice perk of staying CL, especially if you have late flight ;).

I am interested in hearing IPO's response. What I do find interesting though is that this was Katenbeth's first and only post. :confused3

I'm sorry if you all find it unusual that it's my first post and don't understand why this could be a problem (didn't everyone do a first post at some point ?) I can't think what anyone would think I was to gain or not gain from posting the information that I was told :confused3 if I do have to explain why it's my first post it's because like everyone does I googled akv cl after our stay to reminisce , and this thread popped up so I thought I would help people out and pass on the info I was told. Isn't that the point of the thread ?

Hi Katenbeth,
I hope you had a lovely vacation staying at AKL. :cool1: Could you give a bit more info about how they told you about the change? Did you have a late flight, or plans to leave later?
Your post is appreciated, as sharing info helps us all, thanks!:thumbsup2

Thanks for that gwynne :thumbsup2 yes we had a fab time at akl although we did find that the food offering wasn't as good as our previous visit in 2008 but this wouldn't stop us going again in 2014 :cool1:. The way it came about that the cm told us about the upcoming change was on our last day we were having breakfast and got chatting to a cm and told her it was our last day. She told us about the policy change and went to check at the desk to see if we were o.k. To use the lounge past 12.00 . She came back and told us we are o.k. But told us about the change coming on the first of September. I also hope that it was crossed wires but wouldn't stop us going cl again.

I'm glad you had a wonderful visit. I love the atmosphere at AKL, too. Jambo is a very special and unique place, no doubt about that.
Thanks for giving some more info. Lets all hope it's crossed wires, but in the meantime sharing the heads up is quite helpful. Thanks!!:goodvibes
That's great that you've got plans for 2014! :cheer2:

This is the email I got from IPO. Appears there must have been some miscommunication. It happens.

Yay!!! Thanks for emailing IPO, Mousemommy.

No Problem!!! :thumbsup2

I panicked a little when I saw that because one of the reasons why I like CL is that we have a place to hang out for late departures (after going to the parks). Our departure flight in April doesn't leave until 9:30 pm!!! So, ME would pick up at 6:30 pm...that would be alot of time spent hanging around the main lobby....:rolleyes1

Sorry didn't mean to cause a panic  I'm glad you got it confirmed. I was just passing on the info I was told (looks like the cm got wires crossed) although I do wonder if they may have been thinking about changing the policy and did a u-turn .

No problem! You know how CM's can be with their information sometimes...I think it would be crazy for them to take away the CL amenities after check out...

Please don't take it personally. Once in awhile there have been new posters who stir the pot, so to speak, and then disappear.

:welcome: to the boards and I'm glad to hear you had a wonderful vacation! :cloud9:

Thankyou for the explanation mickeyluv'r :) couldn't send a pm back (under 10 posts) and it was all in good faith.
Just to add that we loved akl cl and if anyone has any questions or needs any info (no duff info this time) I will gladly answer them :)
We stayed from 07/31/12 to 08/20/12 (21 nights :cool1:) I'm sure the cm's thought we had moved in. Maybe that's why they wanted us out by twelve?

Even the CL CMs give wrong info. I had difficulty w/one at the CR CL which caused me some hassle on our last full day & was told by another CM & the front desk that she was in the wrong.

First of all thank you to the Mods and contributors for a great Forum.

OK now I need to vent and ask your opinion!

I have paid a considerable amount of money to stay at a Polynesian CL Suite to do a memorable Christmas dream vacation before my oldest child leaves for college.

I have been in touch with the CL host to book meals and have not had much luck at getting many reasonable times. For example Ohana-9:15 is the only time open for the nine nights we are there. Come on this our home Polynesian restaurant and they say they have no pull!

This is also not our first trip. We have stayed at the Allstars and CRS many times and have had great memorable vacations. Disney makes it very evident at how much you invest in your vacation, for example bus stop locations-Deluxe resorts are first and the Economy resorts are around the corner at the end. Have been there and understood that is how it works.

I have also stayed at other 4 and 5 star hotels outside WDW and was able to get into any restaurant any time you wanted with the help of the Concierge staff. I am not looking for miracles, but you would think they had a little influence on the meal booking.

Have you also had this experience? Do you have a tactful way of confronting the CL host without souring the mood?

This is making me rethink this vacation into a real Caribbean vacation.

Thank You in advance for your thoughts.

I'm sorry you aren't able to get your reservation. :(

However, the Disney CL IPO's unfortunately don't have any more pull than we do with making dining reservations. As you know, Ohana is one those that typically needs to be made at the 180 day mark, and you are obviously well inside that mark if your trip is in December.

Just have them (IPO) keep checking on availability, something might open up. You could always keep checking too. Good luck! :goodvibes

I'm sorry you are rethinking your trip. But as the pp said, CL CMs don't have any pull on getting a guest into a restaurant that is booked. Ohana is a very popular restaurant that books up very fast. It also requires a cc guarantee, so there is a chance of a cancellation as it gets closer. I would have IPO keep checking for an earlier time, but I would also check online myself daily as you never know when something might become available. Good luck.

Thinking about staying CL thanks for the great thread!!

Which resort are you considering?

I would love to do poly but my DH wants AKL, he would live there if possible. Do you have any suggestions?

We've stayed at both resorts, but not CL. We are trying Poly CL in July 2013, which I'm excited about as I've read the lounge is big and has an amazing view of the castle :cloud9:. We've tried CL at the WL and GF (RPC & SL) and while GF RPC is my favorite, WL CL runs a very close second :thumbsup2. With that said, AKL CL is one we want to try as I've read nothing but rave reviews about it.
