Anyone disappointed with the servers on the Fantasy?

We were on the 18-25 August Fantasy Cruise and we loved our servers. Our Server was Sholt from Hungary, Assistant Server Maria from Grenada and Head Server was Cedomir. We were very lucky. Maria went above and beyond. She had only been working for Disney for 4 weeks and you would never have known.

We were on the 8/4 sailing of the Fantasy and LOVED our servers.

Head server was Jaime from Portugal (very personable and friendly although he didn't "do" anything for us). And Andres from Columbia and Val from St. Lucia were our team. They were awesome! Did amazing magic tricks every night for our kids and even cut my son's meat!

Has anyone had Stipe from Croatia on the Magic, he and his assistant Jimmy from China were wonderful.

Our servers on the Fantasy were just "eh". We loved our guys on the Dream last summer and have pictures from the last dinner plus our debarkation breakfast - my kids loved them.

Artha ( Arthur ) or Kruno on the Dream & Delyan or Pierre on the Fantasy . All were fantastic , enjoy your cruise & you'll want to bring extra $$$ to add to your tip envelope as these workers are top notch . Be sure to call Disney Cruise line and request them ( both times my requests were met )

We were on the Fantasy in July and had Javier and Sholt and they were beyond awesome :worship::worship: Both were top notch and new to the cruise ship industry :thumbsup2

very much so....i posted this story in the thread about the head servers last week:

we had a similar situation with our server on our 8/18 WC on the Fantasy and it really ticked off my wife....

here's the thing: i put an extra 20% into the envelope besides the tip ticket....there were three of us (Me, wife 9YO DD) and the tip ticket was $84 and i put in another $15....the waiter was a nice girl but she did nothing exceptional- in fact the service was rather mediocre; we were ALWAYS the last ones out of the restaurant because of slow service and my wife and i were always struggling to get coffee after dessert...partly the waiters fault and a lot the assistant waiters fault...

we were friendly all week but unlike the other tables where the other waiters were doing card tricks, rope tricks, etc, our waiters did none of that...the prior three cruises we had exceptional service and the waiters were always doing cute things for my daughter to make her feel special- nothing on this cruise....in the past when I got exceptional service i've tipped the waiter $110 to $120...

the table next to us was a Greek family from NJ- their waiter brought them a big plate of freshly made Baklava on the last night....we struggled to get coffee to make the "See You Real Soon" show in time...

i gave her our envelope as we left Animators Palate Friday night and when we walked in Saturday morning for breakfast i knew instantaneously something was up the way she greeted us...she was very cold, in fact my wife called her attitude snotty...

i excused myself from the table to use the restroom after i ate and when i came back my wife said "how much did you tip her?"...i knew she had caught on....

my wife then went on to tell me she (waiter) hugged everyone at the adjoining table while my daughter was watching but did not come over to our table...my wife asked her if she would take a picture with my daughter and she reluctantly said "yes" then said "see ya" and walked off afterwards, not hugging my daugher...it irritated my wife and bothered me as my daughter is super sensitive and took a liking to the waitress...fortunately my daughter did not catch on....

as far as the head server i just gave him the tip ticket as he did nothing for us....in the past the head server would come over every night and see how we were doing, how our day went and gave us tips what to do and what to avoid at the next days port- i always appreciated that and tipped them accordingly....we rarely saw the head waiter this year...

ironically the asst waiter, who i gave an extra $5 to, was overjoyed...

in the past i've requested waiters who had worked our table on repeat cruises....we are scheduled on another cruise next August and I will most assuredly make sure we don't get the same waiter upon arrival...

today i filled out the email survey DCL sent me and told them the entire situation...we presently have reservations on the 8/10 EC next year and i will make sure we don't have the same waiters upon embarkation...

Wow...thanks for all the replies..I was just looking at our Med Cruise photos and we'd taken pics with our servers as we had on our previous cruises. This time was just awful..if you want names, just pm. I never felt like it was just "us". We don't have any special requests, just was so disappointed...guess we weren't alone. We were just jealous watching everyone else interact with their servers. We did like the "head" guy this time....the one that comes around to everyone's table. He was very nice, but when the butter knife was dropped off the plate (with butter) onto my semi formal dress the night after the coke was dropped in my son's lap...even he was..."you want this cleaned now? We can clean it now! and I was more like...uhmm. I'd rather try to do it myself only bc it had some beading on it and i wanted to try and wear it the rest of the evening since I liked it. He did try to help, but it was almost pushy as though he was so panicked we would complain on the comment card..he wanted my dress now...lol

we are a very low maintenance family...i'm the type that, if they screw up my order i'll just deal with it rather than make someone feel bad....we had two special requests; my daughter doesn't like cheese sauce on the pasta so we asked for butter and pasta and hard boiled eggs for her on the final morning...

i initially thought it was the law of averages as the prior three cruises we've had incredible service and have requested repeat servers....maybe DCL is cutting corners or things are strung tight with four boats...

We too had lackluster servers, 3 sets of me! They moved us after the first night (not at our request) but someone was already at our new table! 3rd night, another move!

Servers were great at little things (cutting our children's chicken fingers, making Mickey shaped ketchup) but they rushed us into ordering as soon as west down, and totally forgot several items we ordered during the week

And to make it all a huge mess,my sons "drawing" Was left out of the final Animaters Pallete production. He was in tears the rest of the evening

I had read several threads about the lackluster service on the Fantasy before we sailed, and I was very nervous.

I was happy that our serving team was very pleasant and interacted with all of us, and seemed happy to see us. On this cruise, we even saw the Head Waiter helping to clear tables...now this is only our 3rd cruise, but we had never seen them DO anything before.

Our server had "opened" the Wonder and the Magic, as well as the Fantasy. When I asked which he liked best, he said the classics because everything in the galley was easily accessible, and because the Fantasy is so big, it was much more difficult to get what you needed in the galley.

We had mentioned at the beginning that our kids' favorite dessert was the lava cake. On the last night (which was NOT the lava cake night), he arrived with one for each of the kids before we ordered dessert. He also noticed that while the kids and I like seafood, DH did not order (or try) any. So on the second Animator's night, he made sure the appetizer sampler for DH included ONLY the procuitto.

While our serving team on the other 2 cruises were also good, this was the first time I felt one of them went "above and beyond".

I am sorry that so many others had disappointing service.

Our server and head server on the MV was so bad that after three nights I talked to a dining manager we knew from previous cruises and our server was replaced the next night. In order for DH to get that upset the server had to be horrible. He was to the point where he didn't want to even go to the MDR if something wasn't done about it.

I had a similar server that had over 10 years with DCL. He knew what he was doing, and the assistant server worked very well with him. I was on the September 8-15 sailing on the Fantasy and thought they did a good job.

Wow, we just got off the Fantasy today and I have to say my experience was just the opposite of the majority of the posts here. Our servers were so wonderful, I tipped extra for the first time. They were Munir from Brazil and Janina from Peru. For certain reasons, I don't consume a lot of food. The first night, I ate half my veal and right away, Munir wanted to know what else he could get me, thinking I didn't like it. The best story though was what happened to one of their other guests. They had an elderly couple in their 90s and walking out of the Royal Court they misjudged the step and fell. Fortunately they were okay, just shook up and he bruised his face. Well Munir visited them in their stateroom the next day to see how they were doing. Both Munir and Janina were genuine and efficient and I hope to ask for them again next year, although Munir is training to be a head server.

Burak was our head server and he was very visible all through the cruise. No complaints there.

We will never be able to beat our team in 2009 on the Magic- Okim from Indonesia and Sepho from S Africa- they were awesome!!!!!

I heard Okim is still on the Magic and guest services on the Dream said Sepho is a popular name and I could not think of his last name at the time.

Will never forget them

We are just off the Fantasy yesterday and our server JC and asst server Maria were awesome. We tipped extra. Maria, in my opinion, is a hidden gem of DCL and is being under utilized in her current position.
My only criticism is that my husband's birthday was the last night of the cruise and it went unrecognized. We had discussed earlier in the week with JC for them to bring a cake, and they did not. I didn't press the issue bc my husband had a headache and wanted to go back to the room and lie down.

We had Krasimir as our Server and Claire was his assistant. Krasimir was excellent and his recommendations were spot on. Because there were only two of us at a 4-top, we had room to always try a third entree suggested by Krasimir and more than one appetizer. Claire jokingly teased us about having a private buffet! Roberto was our head server and he stopped by every evening. We also saw him when we ate in Royal Court for breakfast or lunch. At lunch one day I found a piece of plastic in my chilled soup and the assistant server brought me another. I jokingly asked if the second bowl was plastic-free and he assured me it was...well, it wasn't and the server and assistant came over to retrieve the soup and contacted Roberto and the other head server who in turn spoke with the Chef. Later in the day, a tray of chocolate covered strawberries was delivered to our stateroom along with an apology from the Chef! It was a very nice gesture!

We had Sepho Zenani from South Africa on our Sept 2 Magic. He was the server and was a wonderful. He was also handsome, and so polite. Our moms(85 & 87) were with us and were quite impressed by him.

Just off the Fantasy yesterday. Our servers were the best in 7 cruises! Mateus from Brazil and Malcolm from India were great servers and awesome entertainers. I do have to say that I have never seen servers move so fast. I really do think that the servers on the Fantasy are given too many tables. They never complained, but I did notice how fast they had to move to serve all their tables. That they made a point of spending time with each table every night really impressed me. We always hung back and visited with them after all the tables were cleared. My DH asked if they knew any magic tricks and that started a competition between the two to see who could entertain us the most. Truly awesome servers and they never neglected a table out the the 6 nights we ate in the dining room. Oh, and the head server, Fritz, was great. We've never had a head server do more than stop by the table once or twice. This guy stopped nearly every night. Plus, he helped clear tables, shelled our lobsters, and asked about dishes we didn't care for. This was the first time we gave extra to a head server. You could tell this guy really supported the servers and cared about his customers. We liked our servers so much that we canceled Palo for the last night so we could spend it with them.
