Tipping étiquette?

What is good tipping etiquette at WDW? I have worked in the service industry and consider myself a very good tipper,but I don't want to leave anyone out! Who can receive tips? How much to tip them? TIA!

Table service food servers, of course, generally receive 15% to 20% of the total bill. Luggage people and valets normally get $1 to $2 per bag.

Housekeeping, at DVC resorts, is officially a non-tipped position, but I think the majority of peope do leave a few $ on trash and towel and full housekeeping days, especially if they are less than tidy guests. Front desk clerks and most other WDW cast members are non-tipped positions.

Non-Disney employees:

The BAGS people at the resorts (the ones that check-in your luggage for airlines) are tipped the same as a regular airport skycap. The Magical Express bus drivers may be tipped, and valet parking attendents are usually tipped $2 or $3 upon pick-up of your car...some people tip both ways, drop off and pick-up.

I usually tip the bellmen $3 per bag, but will generally round up to the nearest $5 increment so I'm not counting out a bunch of $1 bills.

I know I probably should, but I do not tip the greeter at the portico who helps you unload your luggage from the car onto a luggage cart. I only tip the bellman who brings the bags to the room. Maybe I'm being a jerk about it, but just because Disney's contracted certain functions and organized themselves in such a way that multiple people need to handle my luggage at check-in doesn't make me feel obligated to tip multiple times. I don't know if they pool these tips.

The one time I will tip multiple times for luggage is when we're changing resorts for a split stay. I will tip both the bellman who picks up the bags from the first room and the bellman who delivers them to the new room.

We always order something from the Disney florist, and the resorts have a runner who bring these around to the room. If we're in the room when they make this delivery, I always try to tip this person, but most times they will refuse to accept it.

If we run out of TP or request a blender and a housekeeper needs to run something to our room, I'll usually give them a few bucks.

Before we bought DVC, I would always tip the housekeepers a few bucks every morning. I had gotten out of that habit for some reason when we started staying on points, but recently started tipping the DVC housekeepers again.

We use a Tables in Wonderland card when dining, which adds an automatic 18% tip to the check. At home, I typically leave a 20% tip rounded up to the next whole dollar. Now, I don't add this 2% to every check, but I will often add something extra to the check for servers who did a good job.

About the only time we use valet parking is for TIW dining at a resort with valet service. I usually tip $3-$5 for this, depending on whether I have $1s in my wallet or if I saw the kid really running for the car. (Once, I accidentally left the keys to our car in my pocket at the Grand Floridian and the valet had to search the whole resort to find me. We were all the way out by the pool when he found us. I was so embarrassed, I think I gave him a $20.)

I don't tip the Magical Express drivers, personally, but's that's mainly because we never have luggage with us to be put under the bus. I do tip the RAC folks a couple bucks a bag when I drop them off.

Our sentiments exactly. And we stopped using them altogether when one who unloaded our car said
"you won't see me again".

So for us, now neither of them is tipped.

If I tipped $3 per bag (plus we grocery shop before we check in), for the 2 people doing the unloading and delivering,
it would cost about $60. Not worth it.

i likewise tip housekeeping service if we call them to the room for something extra, running up tp, once we called for something & i can't remember what, maybe a blender or something. we tried to tip the tour guides after taking the tour but the politely declined; they did an absolutely wonderful job. we follow up with a letter if we feel a cm has done a nice job.

I always tip my DME driver, bellman, and if I use the airline check in at the resort. For the bellman that does bag delivery I just go to the bell desk and leave the tip after bags arrive in the room. I was told I could do that by a former bell services CM friend of mine, and I am glad to I do after he told me how much he got per room from DME luggage delivery. They keep a record of who makes what run, so the bellman always will get his tip. Oh and of course my servers at sit down restaurants and at the lounges, but that's easy as I use TIW.

If you follow the national standards for tipping then you'll be in a good position. We don't generally tip housekeeping, it's not the standard in the US for timeshares and is one of those questionable one's for hotels. We do tip them if they do something special and to be honest, they often do.

we always tip the bellhops, but I also hate that they split it up into 2 stages. I usually stand there telling the guy what goes on the cart, and what doesn't.. he usually just starts randomly grabbing, and I have my boxes separated into which resort (we do split stays often). so many times I turn my head for a minute, and they have a box on the bottom of the cart with stuff already on top of it, and that box isn't even going in on this leg of the trip!

or they put a heavy suitcase on top of a box with chips and bread.

I'm trying to say "really, you're not helping me, you're in my way."

I just divide what I would tip the person that takes the luggage from car to room into 1/2 if done by two cast members.
As far as wait service, if I get excellent service, the waiter gets a nice tip. If service is poor, tip is below 15%.

Housekeeping gets a tip for trash n towel and full cleanng days.
