Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust - That's What Solo Trips Are Made Of - Update 7/21 P17

Ok I am TOTALLY left in the dust with all this shoe-speak!! :rotfl: I am so shoe-utilitarian it's not even funny. Cute shoes?.....there are cute shoes?!?

In light of the last two or so pages, I have just one comment worthy of the space:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

but writing about the last one always makes me a little sad! :(

Ah well! Onward!

First of all, can we do a little dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?

(Sorry. Been reading other trip reports with obscure movie references and it's rubbing off.)

Without further random interruption, I proudly present...

the twelve day dance!

party: party: party: party: party:

Brought to you by the, "yes, you too can take a solo Disney trip council"

Gosh. I really cannot believe I'm down to twelve days. In two days, I can partake in online check-in. I lovingly joke with my husband about whether or not if I'm checked into a Disney hotel ten days in advance, can I check out of responsibility at home? :lmao:

I'm actually thinking about starting to pack this weekend. The weekend before I leave, I've got a wedding shower on Sunday, and I'd really like to spend some time with the boys on Saturday.

The cool thing about this trip is that I only have to pack for one! WOO HOO! :cool1:

Speaking of packing, we're actually nearing some consensus on the shoe debacle...

everyone remembers trip shoe #1, right?

montr150610_37326_jb1.jpg

Montrail Molokini's in Black - these are the ones you bake in the oven, and they conform to your foot.

Now I am a girl who loves her flip flops. Believe me. But given all the knee trouble lately, I don't think they're going to be my main shoe. Maybe a Downtown Disney or around the resort shoe. But for serious park touring, I'm going to go with one of two...

Trip Shoe #2 -

789880-p-MULTIVIEW.jpg

Merrell Circuit Mary Janes - these are a great casual shoe with arch support that hits me in just the right spot, due to the fact that I can get them in a half size, which is what I really need. I wasn't fond of the beige color, but I figured for the clearance price (a normally $80 shoe going for about $63) I'd give it a whirl. I actually love the color! They're a nice nuetral, and I think they look better on me than black would. Initially, the outer corner of the shoe on both feet seemed to press in and leave a red mark. So yesterday, I wore them around the house with gauze pads stuffed in both sides. It helped stretch them out just enough that when I took the gauze pads out, it didn't press anymore. It was not a fun process by any stretch, but it sure did the trick. Have to have room for feet to swell in that Florida heat. ;)

And last, but most certainly, not least, are:

Trip Shoe #3 -

L14237644.jpg

Asic Gel Nimbus 13 - Code Name: Heaven Walking - these sneakers are so supportive, my feet thank them. Personally. Every time I wear them. And my knee has no pain. At. All. It's amazing how wearing supportive shoes (and not being in pain) really changes a gal's outlook on life.

So I have fully adopted the eandesmom method of multiple shoe wearing on this trip. I'm going to have a nice big ole purge of all the shoes in my closet that have no support anymore because I just can't keep hurting my body like that. Bad, bad! :lmao:

Now that we've got all that squared away, let's talk about my last day at Disney. :::sigh:::

The day in which reality starts encroaching, but you still get one last little piece of the magic.

I'll need to be on Magical Express around 430pm, so I've got a good chunk of a day to do something.

And honestly?

I have no idea what I'm going to do.

It could go SO many different ways.

If I don't go to Downtown on Friday before MNSSHP, I know I'll want to make a stop there. If that's the route I go, I may just do Downtown, or maybe throw in a little resort hopping. Possibly check out AoA, or do a deluxe monorail crawl.

or

I could go to DHS. Ride TSM, have lunch at the Derby, and get a delightful junky apple to take home. YUM.

or

I could go back to Epcot. I've tossed around this idea because I really do enjoy it there. I could see myself trying to snag a lunch ressie somewhere, and given that CBR's closest park is Epcot, this does make sense.

So many choices! I know I probably won't decide until I'm there, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

What would you do with that free time on your last day? :goodvibes

party: party: party: party: party:

Wow. What are we gonna get when you're single-digit dancin'?!!

Brought to you by the, "yes, you too can take a solo Disney trip council"

Dang that council. Dang, dang, dang.....

No. Sadly, you can not.

You know, I'm a Saucony gal at heart, but I might have to at least try on something like this next time I'm in the market for a running shoe. They look VERY good.

I did the MK on my last solo day. I also didn't have to be on ME until late afternoon, so I checked my bags with luggage services and hopped on the MK bus to arrive for the opening ceremony. I don't know, I guess it's just same magic as when you first arrive and see the castle, but in reverse. It's a nice last place to be!

.

Wow. What are we gonna get when you're single-digit dancin'?!!

Heh heh.

It's like you don't know me at all, mate. ;)

Dang that council. Dang, dang, dang.....

I think you're a card carrying member, my friend. ::yes::

No. Sadly, you can not.

I didn't think so. Bummer.

I tried on Sauconys and they just were not the right fit for me. I could feel my knee twisting more in them. That doesn't happen with the Asics.

That's really nice!

Actually, we used to do that. It became a tradition for a while in my family to go to MK on the last day and eat at Casey's, have a last stop at the confectionary, and be on our merry way. :thumbsup2

I'm totally having a Billy Idol moment over here.

I know it's the beginning of the school year, and everyone's busy, but sometimes I feel like I"m dancin' with myself on this little pre-trippie.

The irony is that regardless, I keep posting. ;)

Because I like to. :goodvibes

So if you're lurking, come on out and say hi! Don't be shy. I don't go all pirate: on you until I know you better, I promise.

Water's fine, dip in those toes. :thumbsup2

So, speaking of dancing, let's do a little 11 day dance, shall we?

party: party: party: party:

Oh, yeah!

11 days means that tomorrow I can check in online! That is SO thrilling to me. I can't wait to be officially checked in at CBR, online check in is one step closer to being there. :cool1:

Also, my Magical Express docs came this weekend. Wahooty!!!! Boy was I excited to hold those yellow luggage stickers in my hot little hands. :lmao:

Lately I've been thinking of Dr. Suess' "Oh The Places You'll Go." Except every time I think of it, instead of the actual, "oh the thinks you can think," I'm substituting, "oh the drinks you can drink."

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I make no apologies for my enthusiasm in regard to the delectable nectar produced in so many varieties that is called alcohol.

And this whole train of thought brought me to the drinks I can drink.

Which also lead me to the noshes I can nosh.

And the general fun I can have.

So I thought a little pictorial editorial was in order. Without further ado, I present to you some photos from past trips that indicate either things I'd like to consume or partake in on this trip. Or, just things I wanted to share because I'm looking forward to them.

Why?

Cause it's fun.

And cause I'm dancin' with myself. ;)

I'd love to see that! I thought about doing that, but was not that ambitious. :lmao:

Oh, I can do way better than that! :lmao: Those are just some of my favorite shots. I love that resort. It's so relaxing. And even though there's stops at each village, I love that CBR has a dedicated bus line. :thumbsup2

I love to see all the different kinds of apples they have. They've come a long way, design-wise, from when they first started making them. :goodvibes

I'm hoping they'll have the meet and greet again this year. But if they don't, it's cool.

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it last year. :rotfl2:

AND, can I just say, what the H-E-double-hockey-sticks happened to me??? I re-read the first few chapters of that report.....there is some funny stuff in there! Well, I dunno, maybe it's just funny to me because it's about my trip and my fam, but I still liked it.

And wonder why I can't seem to crank it out like that anymore....

Sorry I haven't been on here to comment, I promise to make a big effort this weekend!!

I can't wait to find out what you ended up doing about shoes!! :goodvibes

Your trip isn't that far off!! :yay:

Off to the store to get something for dinner.

No apologies necessary!

I just miss my DIS friends when they're gone. :goodvibes

Ugh, the shoes.

Side note. When you read the post about the ones I'm keeping, discount the Merrell Mary Janes. Those are going back. They end up rubbing my feet raw. Thank God I only wore them around the house and am not taking them to Disney. Right now the only thing I'm absolutely sold on are my sneakers. So. Not. Like. Me.

Dinner! Enjoy. I begged my husband to cook. Granted, he's a far better chef than I am. He grew up working in his father's restaurant. ;)

I'm sorry I haven't been commenting much, I have such limited DIS time lately, but I'm here to dance with you for 10 days and online check in!!!

 :dance3: :yay: :cheer2: :woohoo:

Ahhh I can't wait til I'm 10 days out from my trip! I don't want the Fall to go by too quickly, but I'm so ready for it to be November! :cool1:

I love your CBR pics! So much that I actually said to my DH last night "I wish we were staying at CBR instead of POR" and I checked to see if there were any rooms available there...NOTHING! There are actually no moderate rooms left with free dining for my week at all, which makes me a bit nervous...:scared1:

I had no idea you can go to Dick's and they actually have people there to help you get a proper running shoe, I'll have to go there when I'm going to buy running shoes! I was actually in the Walking Company yesterday, and they have this thing you can step on that shows you the arches of your feet and how much pressure you put where...my DH did it and ended up buying a pair of Ecco's for Disney (which is annoying, because we went there for ME and he's the one who leaves with shoes for Disney! :rotfl2:). I'm having such a hard time deciding what kind of shoes to get for Disney, my Crocs aren't gonna cut it this year! I'll still bring Crocs but I want at least 2 other pairs of shoes to alternate with!

YAY!!!! 10 DAYS!!!!! You know how to kick it off right, my friend. :thumbsup2

I know how you feel. I always felt that way when I went to Disney in September. I didn't want to wish away the summer, but I sooo looked forward to my trips! :goodvibes

It is a wonderful resort! Very relaxing, you should definitely try it some time. :goodvibes

Honestly, I think I lucked out and got a manager. I noticed quite a few employees asking her for direction, so if she wasn't a manager, she at least knew a. what she was doing and b. what she was talking about.

It also helped that she's a runner, so that was pretty cool. I've been to a New Balance store that had the same thing you step on, but their interpretation was totally different than what she said. I felt more comfortable with her analysis, and really it's about the knowledge of who's waiting on you.

I'm all about alternating shoes. I am still on the hunt for another decent pair of sandals, besides the Montrail flips.

It is SO hard to find good shoes.

WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

party:party:party:party:

We are in the single digits, folks!

9, count 'em, 9 days until my glorious solo trip. I am so excited. I got nervous over the weekend, but I had some other real life stuff happen, and believe me, I am so ready for this vacation.

Cannot wait!

I did online check-in this morning and requested Jamaica. If I don't get it, that's fine, but I do love the colors there and have some really fond memories of a girl's trip and family trip there. Actually, I've never stayed in another village.

So if I don't get Jamaica, it'll just be a whole new adventure. ::yes::

Yay for single digits! Yay for solo trips! Yay! :cloud9:
