Live Trip Report!!!! 9/1/12 - 9/9/12

It's finally here....departure morning!!!

Here in Wisconsin it is 04:45 am. we had the truck and camper ready to go at 10pm last night and were in bed by 10:30! My dh fell asleep right away...kids were asleep by 8:30. Me on the other hand tossed and turned all night.
We got the kids up at 4:15 and in the truck 10 mins later...we are ready to go!!!
........CLICK......CLICK......CLICK......
BATTERY DEAD....so used my car to jump it....well after we get it going realize that the batteries ....yup 2 are junk....so dh is off to walmart while I convince the kids to go back to bed and that we would still be leaving.
Lets just get the bad luck out of the way now.

Sounds like us. Last year we had to replace the house battery. This year it was the regular battery. Hopefully we will be good to go for October.

Hope you are on the road now and it will be smooth sailing to the fort.

Hello everyone .....after we got the batteries changed we hit the road at 630...2 hours late.
We had a great day of driving! Everyone is doing great in the car. We stopped north of Atlanta, GA around 9:30 last night. We woke up this morning at 5:30 and on the road at 6. It was still pretty dark so kids went right back to sleep. Our gps says ETA 2:15 which after stops we're hoping to be there sometime after 3.

The kids still have no idea where we are headed .....I'm so excited!!!!!

We made it! We stopped about 20 minutes before we got here to tell them and video their reactions and what did they do....cried..
And not happy cries. They were mad because they only wanted to go to a regular campground. After getting calmed down and seeing the big sign they were ok with it.
We have site 311 and dh decided after seeing everyone else with carts that he needed one to...lol

So happy you made it there safe.. I had to laugh when I read that your kid's cried! That is the SAME reaction my 4-year-old granddaughter had when my DD and SIL videoed her kids on the way to the airport. My GD sadly cried that she "wanted to go to Chuckie Cheese" (as originally been told). Anyway, they ended up having the trip of a lifetime. Hope you do too!

That's great! Think how funny it will be in years to come when you watch the recording. We are surprising our little ones, as well. They play "camping at Disney" all the time, even though we have never camped there, so I am hoping for a good reaction.

Love the kids reactions! My DD9 heard me on the phone making ADR's for Christmas Eve and Christmas and started crying because she wasn't going to get to eat at home (she didn't know WHERE the ressies were) she was so bummed we had to go ahead and tell her where we were going. NOW she's thrilled!
