Swapping dessert for a bottle of water?

I read on these boards about someone who did this. Has anybody else tried it? We have the free DDP and I don't care for dessert that often but I drink a lot of water during the day. I would prefer a drink at the TS and then get a bottle of water to take with me.

My friend was in WDW two weeks ago. She had the QSDP and said she was able to switch out dessert for a bottle of water at Tortuga Tavern, Pizza Planet, Pop food court, Capt. Cook's, Electric Umbrella and a few others that I cannot remember. I know that the only place that did not let her do this was Pinocchio Village Haus at MK.

Hope this helps!

We have been able to do this with CS meals at several of the CS restaurants. I don't think they would let you do this at TS restaurants.

Thanks - this does really help as most of the desserts at CS are just the pre-packaged variety. Now, the TS, well that is a different matter:rotfl:
I want to limit myself to only one dessert per day or every other day.

They actually will! We are not big dessert eaters, and we were able to get bottles of water instead at Sci-Fi and WCC. :goodvibes

Pre-packaged yes, but still delicious for us dessert crazy people.

Stilll, I can understand why you might want to substitute. Need to leave room for the afternoon snack! :rotfl2:

I have done it at many places. At Por's food court, they let me swap out a water bottle or bottle of vitamin water. That was a couple of years ago.

When I am on the QSDP, the level of desserts is often not that great, so if I eat at two places in one day that both serve the prepackaged carrot or chocolate cake, that is when for sure I will ask.

When I am on the DDP, I'd rather save my dessert calories for the good stuff at my TS than spend them on the prepackaged stuff.

I have never been told no, a couple of times the cm would ask another cm or a manager but even that was rare.

In 2009 we were also able to trade dessert for a salad, cup of soup, or side dish at most TS.

I've managed to do this at pretty much every CS where I have asked to do so. I believe Tangierine Cafe at Epcot will not allow any trades for anything. It's Baklava or bust :lmao:

Sometimes you may find that you are refused because of the CM you speak to, rather than the restaurant policy itself so I don't assume that if they say no once, they will say no the next time and will still ask again on another visit. We did once have a CM at Pecos Bills say no, but we could take a side in it's place. I just declined, thanked her for the offer and we skipped the dessert. Always remember that it is a courtesy and not a rule if they do let you swap so don't let it worry you if they say no. I usually know when I ask what I am going to take or not take if they refuse the request
