Who Invited My Mother In Law? A Moderately Deluxe TR All New X 3 & PTR Link 2/3 !!

:cool1: What an awesome TSMM morning!!!!! Good for you for making them do the third ride. I'm not sure I could have convinced DD - she just doesn't get the MANIA part of Toy Story Midway MANIA! :rotfl2:

And how lucky to walk right in to VTLM - we never time that right. :confused3

Having checked VOLM off Maddie’s list, we wandered toward the Animation Building with the intention of hitting the Disney Jr. show on the way out. Inside the building, we wandered around for a while, Maddie took a quiz to see which Disney character she most resembles (Tinkerbell-if you’ve ever experienced Maddie’s mood swings you’d agree) , and were pleased as punch to discover some more character meet and greets!

We waited about 15 minutes to meet “Magic Mickey” and were able to talk Maddie out of waiting line to meet Pooh too.

She gave him a sweet kiss, but it appears here that she mauled him

Bryan's a fan, so we got in on the action too

After we left the building, we were startled to discover a line approximately 2 miles long of people waiting to get into the Disney Jr. show. Bryan and I were both kind of Disney Jr.ed out, and hadn’t told Maddie that show even existed, so we passed it by. Would you believe that in all of Maddie’s trip research she’s never come across the show? She didn’t even notice the M&G area set up outside! She was clearly loosing her edge.

The only thing that could possible restore her mojo was another princess show. We had some time before B&tB, so we set off in search of a frozen coke for me.

Along the way

Sadly, it must have been too early in the morning for normal people to seek out the frozen deliciousness, because none were available. Decaffeinated and a little grouchy (me, all me) we headed down Sunset Boulevard.

We popped into the shops to see if any snacks caught our eye and looked again for my Cubs vinylmation, but came up empty on both fronts. The CMs at the vinylmation counter were nice enough to not only check their back stock, but also called around to all of the other shops at DHS to see if anyone had it! None did, but I was once again blown away by the way that the CMs extra mile to make a guest happy. That level of customer service never ceases to amaze me.

Moving on, I ran over to the dump shop of RnRC to look at the Aerosmith merch (I’m still in the market for a vintage tee if anyone knows a good website.) while Maddie and Bryan discovered a PP photog stationed in an area that Maddie had never posed at!

I met up with them in the seats where we were informed that the show would be delayed for an undetermined amount of time. Leaving was absolutely not an option for Maddie, so we stayed. I didn’t really feel like watching the show anyway, so I played on my phone and pouted. In fact, I grumbled so much that Bryan suggested that I go ride either RnRC or ToT until the show was over. Sufficiently shamed, I settled in to enjoy the show. Not my proudest moment. Luckily, Maddie didn't really care if I wanted to see the show or not, so her enjoyment of the show wasn't affected and the show started about 20 minutes after it was scheduled to.

We made our way out of the theater and headed toward our next destination. We were meeting ‘family’ for lunch.

We are going to really and try for next spring (2013). Maybe you could suggest some good hotels for us. :)

I'd love to, and I'm sure that Kathy would too!

I can't wait to hear bout the trip! It's soooooo close now! I hope that you'll do a TR-I can't wait to hear how it turns out!

Yes, I will definately do a trip report. I have a pre-trip report started but havn't had time to upload it here. I have set up photobucket and learn a few things first.

Yay! I can't wait!

I'd really like to visit Great American Ballpark and Wrigley North next.:thumbsup2

Ok, it's not a baseball park but I work at BC Place Stadium. The one with the new roof. We have MLS and CFL, not my fav sports by far but is sure is a fun place to work.

Cool! Seems like it would be a fun environment to work in!

I just caught up on your whole TR. Maddie is too cute. My DD is 22 months and I have so much fun thinking about when we can take her to Disney and she will really enjoy it like that. I hope she turns out to be a girly girl like Maddie too!

Thank you! and Thanks for joining in!

It's so much fun to have a girly girl even if I don't understand how she got that way :rotfl:

There's nothing more fun than taking a little one to WDW!

WE GOT THE SKIRT!!! OMG, it is awesome! She loves it and worn it immediately, of course with the shirt. She has declared it's to be worn on her 4th day of school. She really cracks me up.
She's got it on again today, just until she changes for her open house for school. I will put up her pictures as soon as I load them on photobucket.

THANK-YOU SO MUCH!

I pm'd you.

:woohoo::woohoo: I know I already replied to the other post, but I really am so happy that you're both pleased with it!

Have to agree, I'd only want BLT for the convienience too. I'm not too into the styling, but the location, well, as they say in real estate, it's all about location, location, location! Maddie would love the Royal rooms. The details are so delightful. I wanted to stay in the Royal room and eat at Be Our Guest, but unfortunately BOG wasn't open in July. Even though we canceled our reservation at Akerhaus with the princesses, my DGD never seem to miss that ADR. When asked what she wants to do, all she says is 'everything I did last year!'.

Since it's my DS and DGD, we really like having the luxury of having two beds. Which is why the DVC Studios make it a little more difficult for us. Although, I'd like to try a studio at BW or BCV. Maybe even AKL.

I've looked at even the values for next year... and even looked at... horrors... shhhhh.... outside rooms. Was shocked to see what prices were outside disney. But, it's just wouldn't be the same. I'm hopelessly hooked on Disney resorts.

Time will tell!

Good luck with the choices... Karen

I like the CR, but I guess that the others are just higher on my list. While we spend a ton of time at the MK, the option of getting to two other parks so easily is really tempting! Plus, that pool!!

I know that DH probably wouldn't be happy at a value, so that's off the table, but the princess rooms look great. POR has always been on our list to try.

I've looked into the off sight hotels as well, but you're right, it wouldn't be the same. Being in the middle of the magic is part of it for me. :goodvibes

:confused3

It was lots of fun to get to ride so many times in a row! I'm not sure that DH and DD really get the mania either, but I can't help it! I love that ride!!

We've never gotten so lucky with VOLM, I was so glad.

Holy TSM luck, Batman! I love that ride!

Jill in CO

Me too! I was so happy that we had such great luck that morning! I hate only getting to ride once per trip. :confused3

I thought this last trip, maybe we would see Disney playhouse JR. didn't realize that jackson was a daredevil, done with "kiddie" stuff, and had enough of disney Jr. stuff at H&V.

I guess one of these days (unless we go with Jeremy ..son #2 and kaylee and mason) I'll just have to do disney Jr. by myself!!!!

I do liove the animation class.. I have done it twice now!!!!

Oh my goodness your TSM process that morning made me LOL!! That is insane that you still got pushed in the line when you were LITERALLY THE ONLY PEOPLE THERE. This is why I really have no interest in putting up with that ride anymore. Yay for getting to ride 3 times though!! I'm pretty sure my arm would have fallen off at that point!! :rotfl:

It was only 8:40- 20 minutes before the park opened- and the CM wanted us to stay put. As in stay right there with her smack dab in front of the restaurant. We politely asked if we could wander down by Echo Lake, and she agreed. Sucker!!!!

Maniacal laugh. Maniacal laugh!

You may have guessed by now that during our trip DHS had started implementing the ‘soft opening’ procedure. At the time I had no idea what was going on.

Luckily, you made the right decision to take advantage.

Just as we entered the building, I felt someone shove me out of the way. A woman was apparently very eager to join her family who were the only other people currently in line. She ignored me as I shouted “Excuse Us!” to the back of her head.

Glad you didn't shove back. They always call the retaliation penalties.

We walked right to the loading area where my old buddy Karma exacted her revenge on the Ms. Shovey. Shovey’s family was directed to load at the back of the queue, while we were directed to the front. So, after all that- technically we were the first ones to ride TSMM that day!

Take that and shove it! :thumbsup2

And, imagine my pride when we found that Bryan had not only tallied the high score in our vehicle, but also for that hour and for the day!

Nice! So that's the secret...

After the second ride, I made Maddie and Bryan linger a bit longer so that we could use our FP right then. To be perfectly honest, both of them would have been happy to skip the third ride, but I insisted. By then the FP return time was already 1 pm, and I correctly assumed that our third ride would be the last of our trip. Boy am I glad that I did! TSMM was down for most of the rest of the day.

Whew...karma still holding strong.

She gave him a sweet kiss, but it appears here that she mauled him

 Good thing Minnie wasn't around.

:rolleyes1

Sadly, it must have been too early in the morning for normal people to seek out the frozen deliciousness, because none were available. Decaffeinated and a little grouchy (me, all me) we headed down Sunset Boulevard.

Uh oh. This sounds like trouble brewing.

Disney CM's = :thumbsup2

Leaving was absolutely not an option for Maddie, so we stayed. I didn’t really feel like watching the show anyway, so I played on my phone and pouted. In fact, I grumbled so much that Bryan suggested that I go ride either RnRC or ToT until the show was over. Sufficiently shamed, I settled in to enjoy the show.

Shannon no function caffeine well without.

Boourns to the cm keeping you directly in front of the restaurant! I totally didn't know anything about the soft openings either, haha. Yay for 3 rides on TSMM in the morning, and good thing ya got it in before it got closed down for the day. Boo.

How cute that Maddie was giving people all the warnings at VOTLM, haha! Adorbs! I've never seen that photopass spot! It's clearly at only certain times of the day...hmm...I'll check it out in...oh wait! 10 DAYS! UGH.

I wonder what happened with the B&TB show? Someone get sick and they had to call in an understudy at the last minute? Who knows?! :confused3

I have been away from the boards for a while so just catching up now.

Great updates as usual!:)

I think you are at least the third person whose reports I follow that decided to do a long update yesterday why I was sitting at a beautiful baseball field on the North side where a bunch of guys have NO clue how to play baseball (granted, they won, but they are still a sorry excuse for a ball club). Hijacking to share a picture of us before the game started:

Cubsgame.jpg

(the cute blond is our oldest son, Andy).

Now on to your update, and it was an awesome one. LOVE that you got to do TSM three times first thing in the morning. I'm hoping we can do it least twice on our half day at the Studios.

Did you ever find your Cub Vinylmation? If not, do you want me to look when I'm there in two weeks.

You got some great shots at the Beauty & The Beast Show. And I love the PP's of Maddie in front of the B&B show. I never knew that was there...that is great!

Great TSM planning! Well done. I'm planning on a 3 ride morning on one of our DHS days in the same manner, only no early ressie. The force is strong in me so I will achieve. LOL

Boo on mrs. Shovey. Karma, like rhythm is out to get you.

Love Maddie's poses, Kadence thinks the rose is the perfect touch.

Someone get this woman a frozen coke already! :)

Wow - I clearly logged off too early last night!

Love the Sorcerer Mickey pictures!

And, you know, we all have to give in to our grouchy/pouty side sometimes. In fact, I have been doing so this evening. And now I must stop!

Even though I haven't logged on much to the Dis in the past 3 months, I've done a lot of lurking to keep up with TRs. But every time I tried to start reading yours, I wanted to comment on things from your intro so I'd stop myself and say I'd do it next time I'd log on. You update so much (not a bad thing, except when you're trying to catch up like me :rotfl:) that I'd just say forget it, I'll come back next time. Well, I'm tired of saying "next time", so I'll at least comment on the intro today. And I think I should write all my future comments in a word document every time I lurk so I can post it all at once when I log on. Phew, that was a long winded way of saying, "sorry for staying away so long".

As I was reading your intro of yourself, I couldn't help but realize how alike we are in some ways. I too watch way too much reality tv (Survivor and TAR are my favorites), though I've been trying to cut down these past couple of years. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE puzzles. Both the jigsaw type as well as "logic" puzzles. I'm the queen of puzzles.:wizard: The rest, though, not so much alike. I'm so not type A and not a sports fan at all. :rotfl2: But I do really love WDW, of course. ;)

Maddie looks adorable in that intro picture, as always.

That's it for now. But I promise to be back to read some more. :goodvibes

Unfortunately, a CM stationed outside the restaurant had other ideas.

Party pooper! I guess you weren't sufficiently pouty yet or you would've decked him, right?

Right.

Then maybe a left.

We politely asked if we could wander down by Echo Lake, and she agreed. Sucker!!!!

Rumour has it there's one born every minute. But now I know why you didn't deck him... you dazzled him with wit instead.

I wonder why no one's called animal control about this situation...

You're right, that little bunny on the lawn over to the right has no business being there!

Made you look!

A few minutes later at around 8:50, we saw a solitary man wandering down Hollywood Boulevard.

You saw Neil Diamond??? How cool is that?

no?

So, away we went! Unsure of how far behind the pack we may have been, I still urged Bryan to charge ahead.

"Run Bryan! Run!"
"But honey! There's no one else around!"
"I don't care! I can't risk it, now run darn you!"

Just as we entered the building, I felt someone shove me out of the way. A woman was apparently very eager to join her family who were the only other people currently in line. She ignored me as I shouted “Excuse Us!” to the back of her head.

grrrr.... Some people's parents should not have been allowed to procreate. Too bad you didn't step on her foot later.

We walked right to the loading area where my old buddy Karma exacted her revenge on the Ms. Shovey. Shovey’s family was directed to load at the back of the queue, while we were directed to the front. So, after all that- technically we were the first ones to ride TSMM that day!

Not good enough. I want more revenge. No one shoves my friends and gets away with it!

And, imagine my pride when we found that Bryan had not only tallied the high score in our vehicle, but also for that hour and for the day!

:lmao: Wow! So impressive!

To be perfectly honest, both of them would have been happy to skip the third ride, but I insisted.

Arms getting a little sore by now, I imagine.

By then the FP return time was already 1 pm, and I correctly assumed that our third ride would be the last of our trip. Boy am I glad that I did! TSMM was down for most of the rest of the day.

Good call. :)

Sadly, by the end of our third ride, Bryan’s score had been bested. He did have bragging rights for 35 minutes that morning though!

That counts! ::yes::

Maddie took a quiz to see which Disney character she most resembles (Tinkerbell-if you’ve ever experienced Maddie’s mood swings you’d agree)

:lmao:

Maddie reaches up with one arm and grabs the collar of Mickey's robe. Using all the leverage she can muster, she flips Mickey end for end and slams him to the ground!

Undaunted, Mickey staggers to his feet, but Maddie has already moved in for the kill. She places Mickey in a choke hold and before you can say "M-I-C-K-E-Y", it's all over! Mickey's out like a light and Maddie is the new champ! :worship:

Bryan and I were both kind of Disney Jr.ed out, and hadn’t told Maddie that show even existed, so we passed it by. Would you believe that in all of Maddie’s trip research she’s never come across the show? She didn’t even notice the M&G area set up outside!

We did that on our first visit with the rugrats (DDs 4 & 8 at the time). There were plenty of rides that they weren't able to ride or I knew they were too young to do... they had no idea.)

She was clearly loosing her edge.

:lmao:

Sadly, it must have been too early in the morning for normal people to seek out the frozen deliciousness, because none were available.

That's just criminal. Hey I'm from the Slurpee capitol of the world, so I know what I'm talking about. (Don't believe me? Google it.)

The CMs at the vinylmation counter were nice enough to not only check their back stock, but also called around to all of the other shops at DHS to see if anyone had it! None did, but I was once again blown away by the way that the CMs extra mile to make a guest happy. That level of customer service never ceases to amaze me.

Wow. And I mean that. You're right, that level of service is very, very difficult to find outside of Disney.

In fact, I grumbled so much that Bryan suggested that I go ride either RnRC or ToT until the show was over. Sufficiently shamed, I settled in to enjoy the show. Not my proudest moment.

Ah well. We can't all be parent of the year all the time.

We made our way out of the theater and headed toward our next destination. We were meeting ‘family’ for lunch.

And those are some pretty awesome pics of Maddie! She's a real cutie patootie, that one. :) Great updates Shanificient! :goodvibes

Yeah you got to ride TSMM 3 times!! That is a great feat. We're lucky to ride it at least twice on our trips to Disneyland.

Loved the pictures of Maddie outside the B&TB show. I really need to get us back to WDW so I can bring my DD to DHS so we can see the show! She'd be in Heaven!!

Love reading your updates!

Ok, I read the first four updates.

I loved watching the surprise video. Ron agrees that Maddie is so cute! Just jumping on the bed and throwing the tissue paper away. :cutie:

I still believe you are crazy to move AND leave for Disney World in the same weekend! Moving just tires me out and stresses me out. Though I guess WDW is the best place to take the stress away.

We too took separate flights the first time we went to WDW because I booked several months after Ron and his family. We were just a new couple at the time. However unlike you my flight had a layover, so Ron and his family had time to go check in at his parents’ time-share before coming back to pick me up!

All that waiting for ME and then for the internal bus sucks. I would have walked too. What bad timing with the rain though! :( I can’t believe those airline employees would just toss the strollers like that! Well that’s it, you just sealed our decision not to bring our expensive stroller with us, but to rent one instead.

The flowers on Castaway Cay (is that the name of the island? I forgot.) are so pretty. They are just the perfect pink! I agree with Maddie, pink and purple are great colors (but turquoise is even better). :p

Bright pink mayonnaise? Wow, never heard of that! :rotfl:

Ms. Shovey is LAME! Non-lame people always win. ;) THREE TSMM RIDES? That's so amazing. I might have to get an ADR at H&V, eat some food, politely wave at characters, and BOLT out of there before 9 JUST to do this...

I probably would have pouted at BATB too... as much as I love the movie, the show is just not my favorite. At all. (Same for Little Mermaid which is just shocking for me.) Glad you were able to enjoy it though. Maybe.

Cinderella danced for Maddie? How awesome is that!! It sure made for some beautiful photos. Loved the great interaction you guys got with her and Belle on that first day. I love how Belle and Aurora got down on the ground to be at Maddie’s height.

I love how Maddie was dancing so often that first day. I’m hoping Claudia likes to dance as well. In fact, I love reading this TR because Maddie is exactly how I’d like Claudia to turn out to be, full of life and into princesses and sparkly things. And I’m hoping she gets the same high quality level of interaction from CM and characters as Maddie did on that first day.

LOL at the pinkie promise for donuts. And LOL at Bryan trying out all the kids’ pizzas for “research purposes.

It’s too bad how MIL was not letting you guys have a family pic just the three of you. Maybe I would have tried a subtle way to get it, by getting different combinations of people : ok let’s do just the girls, now just DH and MIL, not mother and daughter, ok now the three of us, ok now just grandma and Maddie, etc.

Ugh, how annoying about your MIL not tipping enough and pretending to be confused.
