Any other DISers going to be there Sep 8-14? I'll be the frazzled guy with the three hyper daughters zooming around the pool. Care to join me in a drink?

:yay: Me!! My DH, DS(5) and DD(16mo) will be there the 8th-15th!! Praying for decent weather so we can enjoy SAB! How old are your girls?

I can't believe I am typing this, but we are in the single digits!!! 9 days until our BCV stay.... :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:
I cannot stand the wait any longer. It's been waaaay too long planning this trip!

Tomorrow we have our last full day so a few hours at MK, lunch at Tony's then back to SAB to float in the lazy river before divorcing the noodles and handing them over to Georgiasmommy.
.

GASP!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
Love 'em and leave 'em huh??? We'll see what the tabloids have to say about this!! This story may very well wipe Prince Harry and his naughty bits right off the front covers!

What I have remorse over is that feeling I bet we all get late in our trip. Ya know how as your trip is starting to wind down, your best laid plans are easily led astray? You think...."Yeah, the MK is open late, but I've already been there twice, and I'm full of dinner, and I'll be back again." Or..."We've been getting up early every morning. Let's skip EMH at the Studios and sleep in!"
All these decisions feel so right in the moment, but now that I'm home, I think "You should have pushed through the pain, because now you're home and can't go on Peter Pan's flight (my favorite ride that we never got to because we assumed we'd go to MK on our last night, but fell asleep early)."

Does anyone else have these feelings?

Why YES, I DO!!! I have worked through these feelings by coming to the realization that I will be back and that for the most part many things will still be there AND more things are coming. Disney is a huge place with many offerings. This concept that we have to conquer all is unrealistic. Think about what a disappointment it would be if we were able to cover everything in one trip like you can at other amusement parks. We'd get bored! Also schlepping around WDW is not for the faint hearted.... It's EXHAUSTING!

Since all the changes in my health have occurred I've had to rethink my touring plan. I am coming to an understanding that I need to slow down and allow time for rest. This is what is so great at staying at a place like the BC/YC. It's the perfect resort to kick back in and enjoy all the deliciousness that makes up this complex.

I think so many of us get into a tizzy when we think about how to approach touring the parks. I just keep telling myself that anything I missed because it's closed or we didn't have time will be there the next time. I also am determined to slow down and smell the roses. Think of how much people miss when they are on a bee line to "Toy Tower Mountain". I absolutely cherish the fact that WDW and it's resorts offer so much. It's why I believe it's the best value for your vacation dollar!

What you are feeling is normal. Just keep telling yourself that you will be back and that you can do it again.

So please stop and say hi if you see me. My DH doesn't believe my imaginary friends really exist. :rolleyes1 In all of our trips down there he has seen only one of my t-shirts (I make DISigns on the Creative DISigns forum) and nary a person sporting lime green. So hopefully this trip will be different. Take care and hope to see you there. Penny

Penny I have to say that I think the things that you and the other Dis Creative designers do are AWESOME!!!! Thank you so much for sharing all that wonderfulness. Have a great trip!

Booked YC CL 10/1/12-10/7/12. 1st time, hope it as pretty as the pictures. Traveling companion loves globes.

See previous post! :rotfl: We will be there and I would be happy to cocktail with a DISer! DS is 9 and would also love to play with some kids. See you real soon!

I just posted this in the main board but since it pertains to my upcoming stay at YC I thought I would ask all you wonderful folks here...

Can I call private dining and have a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and champagne delivered to our room?

Is it best to order through private dining before we leave or should I wait until we check in and order through room service? I was kind of hoping to keep this as a surprise for DH though...

Has anyone else done this in the past and what was the cost?

ooh...good question!! My DS was asking about chocolate covered strawberries just the other day...Maybe I could do this...?

Ugh! Animal Kingdom is INSANE today!

Saw first Lion King, used our special fast passes for the safari ate lunch now waiting for Nemo. After this heading back to BC to swim. Boma tonight for dinner.

I never come during busy times. Usually come in January. These crowds are too much for me.

I have done this often. If you're staying CL you can have IPO arrange it for you or just call private dining yourself if not. I like to ask for it to be delivered when we're at dinner so it will be a surprise as we walk back in the room. Of course it's nice either way. They'll set it up in your room with linens, glasses, etc.

The strawberries are around $40 if I remember correctly and then they will give you a choice of three different price levels of champagne. Can't remember exactly what they were. I believe it ranged somewhere from $65 upwards. You also can get a split of champagne too instead of a whole bottle. Private dining can give you current prices. You can call them anytime. I've called and arranged things through them before I got there before. (Teena's Nana shower, for example.) They're happy to help.

Yesterday was another great day. Started out at the Vacation Club offices. I've always wanted to buy but thought DH would never go for it. We decided to go listen bc they said it was an hour and we each got 3 anytime fast passes. We ended up being there 4 hours but I left happy as a member. We got 33 fast passes! My SIL also bought and she got 33 fast passes!

We ended up buying DVC (AKV also) on our trip in March. We signed up to do the tour on our free day mostly to get the fastpasses. I've wanted to buy DVC since we started going but DH mostly suffers Disney for me and the kids. Imagine my surprise after the presentation when DH told the guy we would definitely be buying. Congrats !! FWIW, we are booked for 10 days in March 2013 during Spring Break at the BCV - we had no problems getting it at our 7 month mark.

Talked to pool server Rocky- in addition to the hotdog cart, several food options can be ordered from the pool servers- cheeseburgers, turkey sandwich, vegetable sandwich, and a few others (but no grilled chhese)

Full standard bar, but frozen options are limited to pina colada and strawberry daquiri (from machines).

Poor pic, but the left front corner of the arcade has been converted to a grab&go station. There were some hot catering trays looking like they were ready to serve hot food here as well, but none of the CMs could tell me what/when/if that was happening. They are all still trying to figure out how this is going to work, and a few CMs told me they'd have it all figured out in a week or so...

Thanks! Looks like we'll be covered for food/drinks. We are planning two pool days, so libations and grub will be a necessity!

Thanks so much for the tip! I will give private dining a call and have it arranged :goodvibes

Hmm...so does that mean no other specialty cocktails other than the frozen pina colada/daiquiri's? My DH can manage with the beer but I was hoping for a poolside plunge (the drink kind) or paradise punch (again the drink kind :lmao:)...pretty bummed about the refurb...originally booked at GF and switched due to the construction there...oh well..at least i'll be in disney...

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

That's cool that your traveling companion loves globes. Just in case you don't know, there's a big honkin' one that comes out into the middle of the World Showcase Lagoon every night around 9.

;)

According to what I have read, mixed drinks will be available in addition to the two kinds of frozen ones, though (pina and daiquiri). Not sure how extensive the mixed drink menu will be.

Sitting at storm a long bay enjoying a cocktail

Sounds lovely!!!

May we ask what it is you are drinking???

I changed our time till Sept 8th as we leave very early Sunday morning. So hopefully I run into some of you. I will be the older pooh sized woman on an ECV, sporting a green hat and tan vest covered with pins, carrying a Flat Ben. I won't be hard to miss. :lmao: Since I ran out of time to make new shirts for every day of this trip, I will probably make a few License Plates for the front/back of the ECV.

So please stop and say hi if you see me. If you do get a chance to meet Penny, don't forget to say hello to Flat Ben, too- that is my son, who is so very desperate for a visit to WDW and a return to the Beach Club that we are sending him on special trips in paper form.

Hi there, I'm so happy to have found this thread. Such detailed info, so many of my questions answered and anxieties allayed! My family and I are visiting yacht club from the UK this autumn from 30th Ocober to 13th November. It is our first visit to Disney and a special treat for us all since our home was destroyed in a flash flood a year ago. We're still not home yet but the anticipation of this once in a lifetime trip is a great distraction for me as well as DH, DS (14), DS (10) and Darling D (5). I look forward to continuing my info gathering here!

I just checked and it looks like the following people will be at the "complex" while we are there.

MaxTheHorse Sept 1-8 YC
iluvpluto27 Sept 2 - Sept 14 BC
chaoscent Sept 2-8 BCV (Pin Trading event)
Susan121302 Sept 7-15 BCV studio

I'll keep an eye out, Penny! We're a family of four including DS3 and DD11months. Look for a dad doing Sherpa duty with all the family gear and that's probably me.
