After all our recent one-meal reports, I'm so excited to be able to write a longer dining review again...this time for a full, extended, whopping TWO NIGHTS! We both work full time and attend school full time, so we tend to split our Disney stays into several smaller trips. But THIS short stay is extra special, because we're celebrating DH's birthday!
I've never properly introduced us in one of my reviews, so I'll do that now. And hopefully I'll remember this and not repeat myself next time!
Me: B(ecky), the sweet tooth
Favorite park: AK
Favorite resort: AKL
Favorite restaurants: Yak & Yeti (noticing a theme?), Kona Cafe, Boma, 'Ohana, Sanaa (too soon?)
Favorite attractions: EE, Living with the Land, FotLK, RnR, Space Mountain
Him: C(harlie), the salty nut
Favorite park: Epcot
Favorite resort: POFQ
Favorite restaurants: Yak & Yeti, Liberty Tree Tavern, Cape May Cafe, Pecos Bill's
Favorite attractions: EE, MSEP, BTMRR, ITTBAB, PeopleMover, Stormalong Bay
Since this is C's birthday trip, I really wanted to make some special ADRs. Unfortunately, the two restaurants he MOST wanted to try, Bistro de Paris and Yachtsman Steakhouse, are BOTH closed for renovations during our stay. Talk about terrible timing! We did reserve Flying Fish for the second night of our stay, but the first night, his actual birthday, was up in the air. We went through about five different ADRs for that night before settling for awhile on Kouzzina, which we've never tried. I could tell DH wasn't too excited though, and so I cancelled THAT reservation and booked what was probably in the back of DH's mind all along; Cape May Cafe.
If you read my May report, you'll remember that I declared Cape May Cafe the worst dinner buffet I've ever eaten at in Disney. Dinner buffets are never really my thing, but so much at CM just didn't appeal to me and none of the stuff that DID interest me was all that good, with the exception of the desserts (because I've never met a dessert I didn't like!). DH however LOVED it and I knew eating here on his birthday would make him happy. I told him about the renovation and new menu rotation and have been faking hopeful enthusiasm for our meal here, so he won't know how much I'm dreading the meal unless he lurks his way over into this thread!
Our itinerary:
9/9/12:
Lunch: Beaches and Cream
Dinner: Cape May Cafe
Snack:Dole Whip Floats
9/10/12:
Breakfast: Captain's Grille
Lunch: Beach Club Marketplace
Dinner: Flying Fish Cafe
9/11/12:
Breakfast: Kouzzina (to make up for cancelling the dinner ADR)
Lunch: Sanaa
Snacks: Boardwalk Bakery
As you can tell, just like our last BC stay we plan on pretty much NEVER leaving the resort area. We devote all our time to Stormalong Bay, only taking breaks for meals! Our lunch plans on the last day may change, because I may have a lecture to attend that afternoon and our campus is in Tampa, an hour and a half from our house but a two hour drive from Disney! For now we're hoping on hitting Sanaa on our way home.
And so....10 days to go!
