How Is SHULA's STEAK HOUSE!?

Hello Diser's!

We went to Shula's 2 years ago and it was nice. Food was good, atmosphere was nice. My only concern was that the wait staff was snooty tooty!:snooty::snooty::snooty: That was kind of a turn off for us. The demeanor is hard to describe, they never smiled, never asked us if everything was okay, never refilled water. It was very very odd. We were dressed business casual and personally I thought we were over dressed. We saw people with shorts and t shirts.

Anyway, was wondering if they may have changed or maybe our day was a fluke day.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks so much!
Brunette

Most times at Shulas we sit and eat at the bar. BUt the couple of times we did sit at a table, service was fairly friendly. These folks are NOT overly friendly in a Disney restaurant way, but I can't say they were nonchalant or completely indifferent.

Hey there Uncleromulus!

YOu make some valid points. Is the bar area different when it comes to food? Do they have any specials or is it you are just sitting in the bar area?

thanks so much!

I have always found the service to be very professional and appropriate for the level of restaurant that it is. While the servers may not be striving to make your visit "magical", I think they present themselves exactly how they should in that environment. Maybe you caught them on a bad day, or maybe you were expecting too much "So glad to see you, cousin!" that you get at Ohana. If Shula's did that, I'd never return.

Hi there. No, I wasn't expecting "So glad to see you cousin", lol! We have been to high end steak houses such as Capital Grill, The Prime Rib, Mortons. At each of these places we were treated, cordially, such as "Hello Sir", How is dinner Sir, Madam". It was if they were aloof and non chalant. I thought it was somewhat unprofessional. But as I said before it could have been an off day.

Maybe your server had a bad day! We've eaten at Shulas 3 times, twice at Disney, once in Ft. Lauderdale. Disney's location is way more casual due to it's theme park/vacation location. In Ft. Lauderdale you seldom see people there in shorts of any kind!

I can't say that the service at either location is ever warm or super friendly, I would equate them to being more professional and attentive, a directive that surely comes from management!

Our Ratings of Shula's Steakhouse: (rev 5/2/2012)

NOTES:
Shula's is at the Dolphin Resort, thus just a little
inconvenient unless coming from DHS or Epcot. The
restaurant is not owned by Disney as Shula's is a chain.
This eatery does not disappoint for meats & veggies, but
we find the lobster and seafood to be slightly below
par for the reputation and price of Shula's. One should
be aware that Shula's is pricey. However, the portions
are large - the wife and I frequently split entrees.

Hi there Beaslyboo! Thanks for your input! Glad to know you went 3 times. You could be right, our wait staff might have had an "off" day. THANKS ONCE AGAIN for your points they are well taken. :)

Hi there TheRustyScupper

I ALWAYS LOVE HOW YOU GRADE each service. Very easy reading and very clear. Great points as always.

Does anyone have a favorite dish?

My DH wants to try their primerib.

Thanks once again Rusty Scupper!

Shula's is one of our favorite Steakhouses. Been to the one at Dolphin location 4 times. Also been to Ft. L, NY, Indianapolis. We have reservations again in Disney for the night before New Years. When we are staying in a city we find them.

More likely than not, it was a bad night for staff. It is pricey, but the food is delicious. The service is professional. If I'm having trouble deciding on what to get, I always have faith in their recommendations. They've never steered me wrong. A few weeks ago we had three people assigned to our table of four. One time a few years ago I do recall our waiter being a little distracted, which I found to be unuasual.

I'd love to take DH here but it's out of our budget. I saw it on the Travel channel & read fantastic reviews on it.:thumbsup2

1) We try different things.
2) But, we are most fond of
. . . ME: Steak Mary Anne (aka, Steak Diane at other restaurants)
. . . MRSRUSTYSCUPPER: Filet Mignon
. . . SHARE: Asparagus, Sautéed Mushrooms (sides are ala carte and big to share)
. . . SHARE: Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

We've gotten very good and attentive service there.

Just s/w my wife to see if I remembered correctly. We were there last September. It was the best service we had the whole week. We had 2 waiters helping us. They were busy that night but to us it seemed like we were the only table there. It was that good. We are going back 9/7. I had the porterhouse last time. I am thinking about getting the KC strip this time. My wife has decided she is only getting the crab Mac and cheese side as her meal. She has been craving it for a year.
