Our Not So Scary, Very Merry, Honeymoon - An Oct/Nov 2012 PTR

That camera is so cute!

This is the second photopass share I've done. The first one worked out great. See if you can join one on the FB page.

That's one of my favourite little cameras, I always love Canon!
Last Hallowe'en a friend of mine and I did a sugar skull photo shoot. I was really fun, I painted her face and we went to a graveyard and got some neat shots.

Awesome!!! I'd love to see pictures if you've still got some kicking around :goodvibes

I have a canon with the miniature setting. Its really fun to play around with.

So far I haven't quite got the knack for the miniature setting, but I think it would be really cool with practice :thumbsup2

It seems like a lot of the shares on FB are already full :sad1: I'll still keep looking though, just in case.

So yesterday (Saturday) we met with my fiance's moms and my mom (her parents are divorced, and her dad remarried) to discuss wedding plans. Apparently they were freaking out a little because they didn't realize how much stuff we had planned, so after the chat we had yesterday I think they feel better about it. :thumbsup2

During this chat, they asked about the honeymoon, and we got talking. :scared: For a while I was seriously worried that we were going to have to cancel it altogether :scared1: or switch it down to one week :sad1: BUT, the end result worked out pretty good.

At first, to save on money, I checked to see if the CSR had availability for the whole duration of our trip. I knew it would save us at least some money to stay there, as we would get FD for the whole trip, and we would be in a standard room, not an upgraded one. As luck would have it, they did have availability for us there, so I said to make the change, no hesitation there. :thumbsup2 Then, I asked about other resorts. I was really curious about Art of Animation, but the lady told me right off the bat we would loose our free dining :sad2:, and that the Little Mermaid Rooms were pretty booked :sad1:. That left us with an easy second option. Either the POP or one of the All-Star resorts. It was down to the POP or the All-Star Movies. I've never stayed at an All-Star resort before, so the idea of a new resort was kind of intriguing. My fiance had, however stayed at one before, and didn't really like the location of it, so now it was all down to price. POP century would save us a little over $1400, All-Star Music, just over $1500 :scared1: Can you say shocked! But in a good way. I feel bad for the poor lady I was speaking with, because I had to put her on hold while my fiance and I talked it over. She was very patient though, and it was nice of her to wait for us. So, for the sake of $100, we chose to go with the POP Century! :dance3: :cheer2: :banana: :yay:

Now, I'm not exactly thrilled about this, BUT, we are still going to Disney World :wizard: AND we will be there for the same amount of time. We are also saving a lot of money, AND we get the Dining Plan for the WHOLE 13 days (technically it's 14 days, but I don't count the last day, because we'll have to get picked up around 9am)! :woohoo:

The last (and only) time I stayed at the POP I did enjoy it. I thought the food court had lots of really great options, and I was pleasantly surprised at the resort itself. I had gone there expecting for it to be cheesy, but, like I said, I was pleasantly surprised. We stayed in the 50's building, and had to go under the large statue(?) of the Lady to get to our room. I biggest thing I didn't like about the resort was the bus service. It was horrible that trip. I can only hope it's improved, or we just had bad luck that time. :confused3

SO, with that big change in mind, I've also had to switch a few other things around. 13 nights at the POP means, 13 TS credits :woohoo: We still have 3 we can use, so I'm not sure how I want to use them. We are also going from having park tickets for the whole time (13 days) down to 10 days :headache: This makes me a little :mad: only because we couldn't buy a longer ticket if we wanted to. Now we're faced with a few options...
1) Do nothing. Keep the 10 day ticket as is and use the extra days to rest or resort hop. :cool2:

2) Upgrade to the Waterparks and More option. I've been to Typhoon Lagoon before, but it's going to be closed when we're there, so if we did this, I'd get to see Blizzard Beach, which I think would be kinda neat. We would also get to go to Disney Quest, which is something I've been curious about for a while. My fiance thinks it would be kinda cool to do these things too :thumbsup2

3) Buy a 2-Day Islands of Adventure ticket. This would be awesome because we both would LOVE to get back to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and 2 days there would be awesome. :lovestruc

4) Bite the bullet, and pay just over $500 for two 3-Day MYW Base Tickets to Disney. This is by far the most expensive option, but the one that I would like to do the most. It's just really hard to justify the cost for that ticket.

I have a feeling we'll end up going to Islands of Adventure for 2 days, but if not, upgrading our tickets would be the smartest option (I think).

SO, I'm really sorry for this long-winded update that took far too long to finish, and has no pictures :guilty:. I'm also sorry if you saw it before this, when I had to leave in the middle of it. :headache: Next time, I will update with new plans and I promise there will be pictures. Bye for now!

Check to see how much upgrading to an annual pass would be. then you could possibly plan a cheap trip next year too! ;)

Awwww I love Pop Century! I hate to jinx you or anything, but I've stayed there 4 times and have had fantastic bus service each time, only one day last year did I have a problem when a bus broke down. :confused3 Maybe you had a bad experience? Just know, it can be done!

About the tickets... if it were me, I'd go with a two day Universal park-to-park pass. :thumbsup2 Men in Black, Harry Potter, The Hulk... yup, that's what I'd do. I'm just not sure I'd get enough use out of a Water Parks upgrade in November (and personally, Disney Quest is NOT my thing! :rotfl:) and the price of a seperate three day Disney ticket is just so outrageous. So yeah. That's my two cents, for what it's worth! :upsidedow

I agree the Pop has awesome bus service too. I have stayed deluxe and it was the worst!!!

I would really love to do this, but I just not in the cards right now...but it's definitely something to think about in the future!

I LOVE Universal :lovestruc We've made our decision though, and to avoid spoilers, I'll keep you in suspense for all of a few minutes until you read my next post :laughing: It's good to hear about the buses from the POP though, I'm hoping we just had a run of bad luck with the buses there. It was also fairly new when we stayed there last, so it could be that they were still working out the bugs :confused3

I agree the Pop has awesome bus service too. I have stayed deluxe and it was the worst!!!

Glad to hear you also had a good experience with the buses! I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll get some of that this time

So I just got back from having dinner out with my parents in celebration of their anniversary (32 years today :love:) and found out some slightly upsetting news regarding our flights...

We're flying with Delta on the way down, and Air Canada on the way home. Delta has actually outright cancelled our flight from here to New York :scared1: :furious: :mad: So that sucks. They re-booked us on the next flight out, which is not until 8:50am now whereas the other one was at 6:15am. This means that we miss our connecting flight in New York by 45 minutes :mad: :headache: :furious: so they had to re-book us on the next flight there too. We were originally supposed to get in to Orlando at 12:01 pm. Now, we don't get in until 4:20 pm :furious: The only silver lining in this story is that our 'Ohana reservation isn't until 8:05pm, and we weren't planning on going to a park anyway. HOPEFULLY these flights won't get changed, because I really REALLY don't want to cancel our 'Ohana reservation.

So, aside from that lovely news :headache: the planning has been going well this week after all the changes from the weekend. :cool1:

Although I didn't do anything about the tickets yet, we decided to upgrade them to the water parks and more option. We just feel that it's the best option for us right now. It will give us some down time, which is a novel thing on a honeymoon, and we will be able to get to places we've never been before, so that's good too. I'm a little hesitant about Blizzard Beach in November, but I'm hopeful that it will still be warm enough to enjoy.

So, with all these changes that have been going on lately, I'm going to do another re-cap because I feel that things are very different now from what they were when I started this PTR. Up next, updates and re-caps. Post to follow.

So there we are, all back up to speed. :thumbsup2 As you can see, not too much has changed. I know it looks like really long days, but we're used to those hours and I'm hoping to be able to take things at a bit more of a slower pace and do whatever we want whenever. I'm not one to have everything planned to a T, but I do like to have an idea of where we're going and when because if not, then we'll waste a lot of time each day trying to figure out where to go (has happened before). That being said, these are guidelines only, not set-in-stone plans (as you've seen :laughing:) well, maybe with the exception of the ADR's.

I'm sorry for the lack of pictures, but I don't have any from the POP on my computer at the moment, they're all on the external hard-drive, and I'm just being lazy tonight :rolleyes1

I'm all caught up now! All I have to say is just breathe, you will get through this planning and it will all be worth it! :goodvibes We got married last year and went to Disney for our honeymoon as well and I remember the stress. Ugh! I hope nothing else throws a wrench in your plans because that just makes planning worse.

Your dresses look very beautiful! I think that would be more than enough time to get alterations done. I guess it depends on who you get for your seamstress but I got my alterations all done within a week or two of the wedding.

Wow, how crappy about your Delta flights! As soon as I read; "We're flying with Delta on the way down, and Air Canada on the way home" I immediately guess that it was AC causing the problems. Very surprised to read otherwise. :rolleyes2 I hope it works out for you guys for 'Ohana!

Plans look great!

I finally got around to digging up the pictures I did with my friend last Hallowe'en... here's a few

We had a blast! This year she's thinking of ordering a really intricate paint on mask thingie and I think we're going to do it again.

Yeah, I've kind of been away from the DIS for a bit due to wedding stuff, and also because I've been so busy getting outside and enjoying the last few fleeting days of summer. It's already starting to get chilly at night and in the mornings. :sad1:

Thanks! :goodvibes I need to find my shoes by Thursday because that's when I have my appointment for alterations. All I really need is to get the dress hemmed, and in order for that to happen, I need to have my shoes with me. I went looking for shoes on Saturday with no luck, so hopefully I can get out and find something suitable tomorrow morning or Wednesday after work.

It's weird...I know a lot of people who have had problems with AC, but I've never had any issues with them. :confused3 The worst by far was American Airlines :headache:, but we won't be flying with them anymore if we can help it. We really like WestJet, but I dislike connecting through a Canadian airport because it seems counterproductive to fly farther into Canada in order to just turn around and fly back the way we came (sort of). If we are connecting in the US we get to clear customs here in Halifax, which is a huge convenience, and takes a lot of stress out of connecting.

Also, those pictures are fantastic! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Very similar to what I'd like to do, only I'd like to make mine a little more...bright, if that's even the word for it. Since it's Disney I don't want it to be too scary for children, but if I was doing the make-up here I'd totally stick with something exactly along the lines of those photos.

Okay guys, I'm sorry I've been MIA for a little while, but let me explain.

Firstly, there's only so much DIS one can handle before you reach what I like to call "the DIS burn out". It would seem I reached that point a few weeks ago, and have been cooling my jets with the DIS for the most part since. I have been in from time to time to check-up on some of the PTR's and TR's I'm following though. :thumbsup2

Second, it's getting pretty close to crunch time in terms of wedding stuff, so that's also been taking up a lot of my spare time. I picked up my gown...nearly 2 weeks ago :scared1: how time flies! Last week I went to a fitting, and all the seamstress needs to do is hem it! I got lucky :cool1: I also had to go out and find my shoes before the fitting, so that was a bit stressful too, because I didn't find them until the night before :scared: We've also been discussing flowers a lot lately, and I've been trying to get some music together for the dance at the reception, since we'll be using an iPhone with a PA system/speakers. It's all starting to come together, but it's also starting to become a tad overwhelming and stressful.

Lastly, the summer is nearly over and we've been trying to take in as much outdoorsy stuff as possible before it's too late, so when we're not doing wedding stuff, we're usually out and about enjoying the weather (if we can). I went blueberry picking twice within a week, so we've also been doing some baking :thumbsup2 Maybe I'll take some pictures to add here later on :)

Our final payment is due on Friday and we're both pretty stressed about it. We have our shower to go to today, so that will definitely help, but it's going to be stressful knowing that we'll have a large balance on a credit card for a little bit. To try and help offset this I've been selling some of my things I haven't used in years (snowboard, bass amplifiers, bass guitar (hasn't sold yet)) to a) find it a good home, and b) so that we might get a bit more money towards our Disneymoon.

I've also been trying to catch up with friends too, so between the wedding, and the end of summer, and that I really haven't had much time for the DIS, regardless of burn-out or not. I'm really hoping I'll be able to get on at some point this week for a real update on plans, but I can't make any promisses. Thanks for sticking with me this far, and I hope I don't loose you guys in the chaos that is my life right now, :laughing:, but I promise I will be back for real updates soon!

I also hope your planning has been going well, and that you've all been keeping well! :goodvibes

I go through DIS burnout too. Usually after a trip ends. I go MIA for awhile and then come back. I like DIS when I'm planning a trip. When I don't have one in the works, I don't like it so much LOL.

Glad all your wedding plans are coming together! I can't imagine how stressful that must be.

I too have been through Dis burnout. As well as every other message board I'm part of (in fact my horse msg boards haven't seen me in a couple of years!)

Sounds like you're keeping really busy! I sold off a bunch of stuff for some extra Disney cash too. It's a pretty good trade off imo!

I totally understand. I have been having a heck of a time keeping up on Dis. and life is busy and now that it is cooling down here I am doing a bit more outside as well.

Alright guys, I’m back! I’m glad to see you’re still with me :goodvibes

I’m also extremely happy to report, I just made our final payment! :woohoo: There’s no going back now…we’re going to Disney World!!! :banana:

So, now that that’s out of the way, let me get on with the show…

Day 7! Sunday November 4

I was just reminded that today is the day that time “falls” back! :hourglass That means that during the course of this vacation we gain 2 hours! :thumbsup2 The only downside to this is that we loose those 2 hours when we go home :( But still, an extra 2 Disney hours is more than we’d normally get, so I’ll take it! I’m just glad I have the day after we get home to relax/sleep before having to go back to work.

So, today, we will be starting out in…

AKSignPost1.jpg

The Animal Kingdom!

There are EMH here this morning, so I figured we’d be able to take advantage of those and get some of our favourites in, and hopefully get a chance to pop on over to...(none of the following pictures are mine)

Conservation_station_1.jpg

Then, after having a wild time until around 2 (or whenever we feel like it, really), we’re gonna hop on a bus over to…

DSCN0497_filtered.jpg
(this one is mine, though)

Epcot!

I’m hoping this is one of the days we’ll spend on the Food and Wine festival, so our time in Epcot today will more than likely be all spent in World Showcase (unless we feel like doing a few quick rides first).

After trying not to eat too much, we’ve got a dinner reservation at 8:10pm for Teppan Edo!

disney-world-dining-plan-teppan-edo.jpg
(not mine)

I wasn’t even thinking about this when I booked the reservation, but I’m hoping that we’ll be done just in time for Illuminations. I booked it so late because I figured we’d be snacking most of the afternoon and wouldn’t be ready for supper until later on anyway. At any rate, we should be at least far enough in the park to get a good spot to watch Illuminations after our dinner. We watched from the Japan pavilion last year, and it was a great view, so we may just hang around a bit after supper, until the show.

And of course, after Illuminations, that means we’ll be heading back to the POP for some sleep. We’ll probably take our time getting out of the park though. It’s nice to just sit and let the crowds thin out a bit, rather than rushing to get out and then waiting in long lines for buses.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So even though I’ve told you guys about the plans for my first week in the World, I still have 6 days left to tell you about (well, 7, but one of them is just traveling so I tend not to count that one, since it’s no fun). I also just checked on the calendar and there are only 6 more Friday’s until we leave…:scared1: holy cow! Time sure does fly! That means, if I play my cards right, I’ll be able to reveal one day’s plans per week until I leave! Though, the last Friday will also have our last day plans too, which will just be us flying home :sad1:
I’m gonna need to get your guys’ help on some of these remaining days though…I haven’t really planned much for about 2 and a half of them :scared:, so I’ll happily take suggestions!
With only 45 days left for us, is anyone else getting excited about their trips? (you must be because I feel like a lot of you leave before us!)
Yay for gaining time. I am happy to gain some too...the only downfall is it means I have to wait on extra hour to board the Dream. but sleeping in is good for DD, so we'll take it when we can.
