30 pounds by Oct, who's with me??

One thing I love about this way of eating is that I feel full all the time. Heavy cream has become my friend. Especially when wanting something a little sweet. Once I got rid of the sugars, pastas, and processed high carb foods, I haven't craved them at all. Keep us updated on your progress!:0)

Heavy cream has definitely become my friend. I love, love, love it with fruit (it gives it that heaviness it needs and cuts the tartness in berries, something I always used heaps of sugar for) and I'll usually make a quick cream sauce for my meat by combining the cream with the pan drippings and heating until it thickens. I'm eating way more green veggies now than ever before. I'm averaging two zucchinis, 10 pieces of asparagus, and half a head of romaine a day, all by myself.

Nearly all of my carbs are coming from two servings of fruit a day. I need to have one of those in the evening because my body is still having trouble kicking its reliance on carbs and a bit of fruit helps curb it until about lunch the next day. Eventually I'd like to get away from that and have fruit for lunch and dinner and maybe a snack of almonds at night.

By the way, those two pounds I gained right before the switch? I've lost three. :)

Edit: About half an hour after I posted this yesterday, my carb flu broke. I just sort of woke up and came out of a fog and I stopped having intense cravings for carbs. I had half as many carbs yesterday as the previous day and felt twice as good. Noodles still sound delicious, but I don't feel like I need to eat everything starchy in sight. I'm going to get to test out how this is making me feel tomorrow. We're going to Olive Garden with my parents. Carb-heavy and grain-heavy, yikes! Then Saturday, it's back on the bandwagon. Hopefully it won't be too big of a bump, especially since I've lost another pound! Down four in one week!

We must all be super busy as no one has posted in awhile. I'm holding steady at 10 lbs. lost since early July. I'm about 8 lbs. from my goal. It's slow goin' but I'm not giving up. Carry on fellow DIS dieters!

Still around, I'm 11 down, I weigh once a week...which seems like an eternity on the DIS! :lmao: I measured today and I've lost 5 inches, most from my WAIST in the last month! :cool1:

Still here! Starting my 4th week on weight watchers/shakeology/turbo fire...down 8.5lbs and 2.5" from the waist! Feeling good! Keep up the great work everyone!

Taking measurements tonight & recording first weigh in tomorrow morning!
I won't make the 30 by October, but have to start somewhere.

I just signed up with myfitnesspal and will be posting my ticker tomorrow.
I'm setting my goal at 10lbs at a time.

I plan on donating clothes as soon as they get baggy, that way there will be no comfort clothes to slip back into.

Congrats to all that have lost so far! :cheer2: Keep up the good work!

Today is day 1 of my journey to a healthier me!

just be sure you don't stay on the low carb diet too long! I did and now find I have fatty liver! and that is on lean meats for the most part.!!! mY doctor warned me but with my hypoglycemia I wasn't having those episodes so it was great....now 9 years later...I'm sick from the low carb diet!!! Now I'm switching to green drinks to de tox my body from all those animal proteins!....good luck!

I'm a nurse too, that's going in Oct and has been doing low carb for 3 months now! I use to suffer from hypoglycemia and since starting, not one attack, also, I use to get about 4 headaches a week, now only 1 or less, plus I have much more energy and I feel full all of the time! I haven't started a regular exercise program yet, but have been swimming a few times a week. I am joined to a gym and plan to get back into it soon! So far, I have been measuring myself weekly and have dropped 26inches overall in 12 weeks and about 21 pounds. My goal is another 20 by vacation time! It encouraging to see others with the same goal. I want to be able to have a few yummy treats on vacation without feeling guilty, especially a dole whip or cupcake!!!:0)

Thanks, but I have studied the pros and cons of the low carb diet, and the pros out weigh the cons by 100:1. If you look at the causes of fatty liver, it could be due to, tons of different kinds medicines, alcohol, other underlying disorders and diseases including diabetes and also obesity, which can be a very big factor in fatty liver. Too much iron can also be an adding factor, but, you can keep a low carb diet 30-100grams of carbs/day, include lots of fruits and veggies, some natural fats and oils( coconut oil, olive oil) and some proteins without over killing the Iron aspect. I look at it this way, I could keep my carbs low, eat a great balance of proteins, vitamins and fiber and a few carbs from natural foods such as fruits, veggies etc. lose weight and also feel better (in which i have now lost 30 pounds and 35inches over less than five months) and risk a very, very small chance of getting fatty liver, or continue the way I was going with being obese, symptoms of diabetes which both play a good factor in fatty liver, suffer from tons of other ailments, work my butt off at the gym and hardly lose a couple of pounds. Since the Food Pyramid was introduced, there has been a drastic rise in heart conditions, diabetes, obesity, fatty liver, and many more diseases. Our body needs fat to function properly. Correlation does not imply causation.

Today is day 90 of Power90. I haven't lost any weight in 2 weeks  But overall, in the past 90 days of this exercise routine/calorie reduction, I lost 18lbs.

Tomorrow starts P90x. :crazy2: Those 90 days will finish about a week before our December trip. I hope to lose another 18lbs in the next 90 days!

I'm slightly disappointed that I didn't lose more weight, since the last time I really dieted I was losing 2lb/week average. However, my clothes fit a lot better (and some are ready to be donated because they are too big!) I also didn't exercise EVERY day that I was suppose to and I had more than a few cheat meals. So...you get what you put in, Moli. Lesson learned. Bring it!

Hi everyone. Joining in. Started on Medifast yesterday. I want to lose about 20 pounds. My two friends have been doing this for about 6 weeks and one has lost 20 pounds and another 15 pounds. And one friends Mom lost 50 pounds in 3 months. So, thought I would give it a try. You do have to buy their food (doing the online program) and eat their meals/snacks 5 times a day and then 1 Lean/Green meal a day. Been on weight watchers before and did lose but very slowly and it was frustrating. So, hoping I can see some progress right away and that will give me incentive to keep going. Just keep telling myself that this is only for a short time - then go on maintenance and just watch what I eat (not chicken nachos and fast food all the time). Also, just seeing the difference in my friend is huge and we can all help each other out (we live next door to each other). She weighs in everyday but thinking I will wait until my first week is done to weigh in...
