Just saved another $15.00!!

I had to add a day for free dining when that announcement came out and that saved $300.00!

Then the 30% off just came out, and that saved me $15.00 more than free dining, so we switched that up.

And I kept the extra day, what DH doesn't know wont hurt him, LOL. :lmao:

I called and checked to see if I could get the Poly with the fall room discount the week of the Oct. 14th and there was nothing available except the suites. Does anyone know why ? Are the GF guests choosing the Poly because of the referb of the GF ?
I just wondered because I have been checking on the Poly with the online reservations for this week and there have always been everything available even last night.
And now there isnt any standard rooms ?

I would try extending dates until you find availability... then you can just cancel the extra nights you do not need and still have the discount applied. We did this when we stayed at the GF last December and it worked out great.

Good luck!

WooHoooo!

Just got 30% off GVCL for our vacation. Also 15% off AOA for our first two days-gives the kids a little over-the-top theming to kick it off. I'm only a little disappointed because I was hoping to stay at POR those two days, but no AB rooms available with the discount. Oh well, the kids will love their Cars suite. Hopefully , the kids won't whine about leaving Cars and DH and I won't miss our own bedroom once we move to the Poly...we won't, right? :rotfl:

Congratulations on getting the room discount!!!:cool1:

I tried and apparantly for the time that we are there (nov 5-15) there is no longer any availability on any room category in the whole resort. (We're staying TPV) They offered me GF for $1600 less but I just couldn't do it, I've got myself so hooked on the idea of the Poly I don't want to give it up. We'll splurge this trip and save on our next one.:confused3

We're heading down in thirteen days...online check in is Thursday. I hope the bad weather will be long gone by then! After looking at Tikiman's site, I'm thinking of requesting Rapa Nui, 2nd or 3rd floor. Has anyone here stayed there before?

Wow, those rooms went fast! I know that sometimes people cancel and the rooms with discount open up, again. Just keep calling until the end of Sept. and you might be able to save a bit :thumbsup2
Judging from what I've been reading, there didn't seem to be a lot of availability throughout WDW for this promotion. Lots of people haven't been able to book when and where they want.

New mattresses going in all the rooms in Tokelau. Saw them stacked outside and ran into the men who were moving them at the elevator. I asked if all the rooms were getting them, and the guy said yes. I would imagine the whole resort would get them, but the way I asked the question he could have thought I was just asking about Tokelau. They are very comfortable! :thumbsup2

oh good..that is where I requested for our stay ::cool1: 18 days and counting!!!:yay::yay::yay:

Made our last minute ressies yesterday for check in Sunday. :goodvibes I didn't request a specific longhouse, just asked for a room with a balcony. Fingers crossed for a good room and good weather!

Rapa Nui is our family's favorite! We got it one year on a trip with our nephew. We had requested Tokelau and were a little dissapointed to get Rapa Nui - but we feel in love with it and always request it now! We always request ground floor and last year got the room on Tikiman's site that he has a picture of - called the worse view at the Poly (room 1110). We didn't mind and liked having a glimpse of the monorail. You will LOVE having that small parking lot right there, and you can drive right up to the door (complete with overhang) to load and unload. It is also very close to the TTC and the beach to watch the fireworks... i will say though, Rapa Nui doesn't have a big fan-base/following. :)

Hope you have good weather and luck with the room. After multiple trips to the Poly, we are squeezing in an extra trip to Disney but staying at the Pop this time. Never stayed at a value, so this will be a BIG adjustment! We'll be back at the Poly next year and crossing our fingers that DVC/remodel won't interfere in the future with our lovely longhouse, Rapa Nui. :) :)

p.s. Noticed you are in MS. Vicksburg is my hometown :)

Hi All,

Thank You all for a great website and board with tons of information!

I am New to this board and would like to introduce myself, I am husband to a wonderful wife and a father of four beautiful children ages 12,14,15,17. We have been to WDW 7 times- 2 off site, 2 @ All-star Movie, 3 times @ Coronado Springs.
We just booked the Ambassador suite at the Polynesian for the Christmas holiday. It was a huge nut to swallow but we only go around once.
I will be emailing the CL with my dinning wishes and have them perform their magic after I get my reservation numbers from my travel agent.
Looking for any information and hints that could help me on this dream vacation ours. I also see that the rooms have been updated a year or so ago- pictures? Should I request the first or second floor?
Any of your help would be greatly appreciated.

Just did my online check-in! We arrive in 10 days for a "surprise" trip for DD's 10th birthday. So far, neither DD or DS have any clue it's happening. DH and I are keeping it a secret from just about EVERYONE so no one wrecks the surprise.

Surprise trips are the BEST!! We surprised our DD for her 13th birthday in 2010. I can still see her face when we drove up to the airport..............tears for days!!

Have a great time.

Vicksburg is a beautiful town! Is your family still there? I'm actually in the opposite end of the state- Meridian is the closest big city :goodvibes

We're just looking for a quiet place away from all the noise of the main building and the pools. Rapa Nui seems to fit the bill! Have you ever gotten a handicap accessable room? I've heard that they don't have bathtubs and I really would like to be able to have a nice hot bath after walking around the parks all day. The parking lot also appeals to me and if that's the worst view we could have, I'm not worried! I hope y'all have a nice trip, too! Pop would be my first choice for a value stay. I think my daughter would love it!

Yippee! Just applied AP discount to our stay at AOA and Poly. Saved a whopping $15 for our Cars room, but saved $200 at the Poly. That's dinner at 'Ohana, so I'm good with that :)

So 20% off AOA and 35% off Poly GVCL. I know it's not as much as AP holders were used to, but it's enough for me! I'm happy with any money saved, but then this isn't a regular destination for us.

We stayed in Rapa Nui in May for our first Poly trip and we really liked it! For the amount of time we spent in our room (virtually none!), we didn't need a view. But I even liked just being on the balcony (we were on the 3rd floor) looking out on the foliage/walkways. It was close to the TTC, which we used A LOT and not far from the pools/GCH, either. We thought it was a great location and would probably ask for it if we make another trip to the Poly!

Welcome! :welcome:
Sounds like you have booked a dream trip!
A few weeks ago Mary T in PA posted these pictures of the Princess Suite, I imagine it would have similar decor to the Ambassador suite.

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=45737443&postcount=3275

We have never stayed in the suites, but wrt the balcony question I think it would just be a preference thing. According to Tikiman's site the first floor suite has a "large yard" or the second floor Ambassador Suite has a "large balcony."

WRT Poly tips, make sure to take time to enjoy the resort!!
Must do Poly things:
  • watch Wishes & the EWP from the beach
  • take the small launch back from the MK at least once, it's very relaxing and you get a different perspective of the resort
  • take in the torch lighting ceremony
  • rent a pool cabana
  • bonfire & movie on the beach
  • rent searaycers
  • hula lessons in the lobby

Happy planning!

Just checking in! When the GP discounts came out yesterday DH & I decided to head back to the Poly so we'll be there Oct 25-28 for DD's Fall Break. While we are always excited for a trip to WDW we are super excited this year since we didn't think we'd be going. This is the latest I have ever planned a WDW trip......love the short countdown! :thumbsup2
