TR Oct/Nov 2012- Cowboys, casinos and pixie dust OH MY!

I'm looking at different travel insurance quotes at the moment and thought I'd ask on here who people usually choose and why.

I've looked into the following:
*1cover $133
*cover-more $172
*AAMI $172

All have unlimited medical which is the main thing I'm checking, suggestions on what else to compare? All have either $200 or $250 excess, not that I'm expecting to claim.

I don't understand why the TA quoted $266 for cover-more and when I did an online quote with the same $100 excess it was $192 and they price match so whats the point in charging so much more. More profit for the TA maybe :confused3

We always use 1cover as we had a claim with them once and they were great to deal with - they always seem to be the cheapest as well :)

We always make sure we get a travel insurance that covers insolvency - not all of them do, and we'd be stuffed if our airline suddenly went under and we couldn't get any of that cost back... Unlimited medical is good too, but looks like you've already got that covered :thumbsup2

Your trip sounds amazing Sam! What an awesome way to celebrate graduating!

When we first got a quote for our whole trip from the travel agent the travel insurance quote was more than double what we ended up paying too!

Thanks for the replies about insurance, I'll look into the airline thingy (can't check the response again from my phone ap) I'm thinking of 1cover, just cheaper & they are so similar, so why not?

Thanks mindy! I'm getting do excited now :) we started planning about two years out & counting down since about 420 sleeps lol kept me going through the last six months of uni :)

52 sleeps to go & next major thing in my list is getting my passport done, just need a photo & the declaration thing signed by a friend. Will get it done this week, terrible at remember to get it finalised!

On a side note, nice to be getting casual teaching days as well for trip money & soon it will be going into house deposit savings instead! By the end of this week, out of 20 days I've been available I will have done at least 9 which I'm stoked about! All at one school & could be more if I went to my prac school from this year but not too comfortable there so I'll stick to what I'm doing for now :)

Make sure you get that passport done asap luv. It can take up to 8 weeks to get it back in some instances I think.

You can pay extra for quick processing. I left mine until the last minute too - only had about a month to go when I applied so just to make sure I received it on time I got the quick processing option. You can have it back within 48 hours if you're that desperate - not that I'm saying you should leave it that late lol! There's probably other things you'd rather put $100 towards!

Definatley the next thing on my list to do!

Its all filled in, problem is I remember at home that I need someone to sign off on it & mine is an online application so can't just have it handy to get someone to write in their dtails when I ask.

Then getting a photo ugh :sad2: they always look terrible, more so now that you cant smile!

Don't worry about the smile luv, noone sees it but strange customs officers.

You don't want to be freaking out about whether it arrives in time. Do it tomorrow.!!!!!!!!!

I'm with Ms. Shuttergirl here....................GET.PASSPORT.TOMORROW!!!!!

You are making me nervous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol ok ladies! Thursday at the latest because at least that's late night shopping & I need a birthday/ fathers dad present for dad. Worse case scenario I'll pay for the express version just to be safe :)

When we first got our passports in 2001 5 out of 6 showed up about a fortnight before...they had lost my 2 year old sisters somehow during processing & dad had to drive into the city 2 days before we flew out to pick it up :O

That scenario you've just described made me feel faint lol. I need to have everything organised well in advance

Gah!! Reminds me of the panicked visit to the Indian Consulate with my daughter in January. She had left her Visa application to the last minute and then made a mistake on the forms - so she received a denial letter only a few days before she was due to fly. She ALWAYS leaves things to the last minute - it drives me nuts!!!:crazy2:

Oh goodness, I could not handle that. This is why I need to control "EVERYTHING" :lmao:

lol I think that's why I'm not freaking just yet! All ready to go for Monday at the post office, was too busy at work this morning to duck across and do it before they closed. The joys of working casually every day this past week as well as my usual hours at work

Does anybody know how often the Disney Store updates their snowglobes and Jim Shore figures? Or the variety they stock in the parks? I was just on Jim Shores website and have totally fallen in love with this: http://www.jimshore.com/store/produ...ime-beauty-and-the-beast-figurine/5554?cid=41

Beauty & the Beast is my favourite of all time but they won't have stock on his website until December :sad1: Hunting around Ebay atm on page 11 out of 46 to see if any are on there as well as looking at all the pretty designs lol looks like a few more will be purchased, well on my way to needing a third suitcase on the way home :rotfl:

If only shipping was cheaper to Oz or more people imported them and didn't have ridiculous mark ups! One place in Sydney had a Belle figurine for $175...its $53 on the website :scared:

I've bought alot of Jim Shore stuff from Cherrylane Keepsakes. Their prices are pretty good.

I am very happy to tell you that you can buy Jim Shore figurines all over the place in the States! Disneyland stock a large range and any Hallmark store will have them too!

They travel extremelely well as we brought around a dozen home on the last trip of varying sizes too:) They are not too heavy either which is a good thing!!! One of the biggest ranges I have ever seen is at Knotts berry farm. Huge selection there. The prices are all very similar no matter where you go, but soooooooo much cheaper than here!!!

Thanks ladies, I currently have a list of 18 that I like :and I've stopped looking otherwise it will grow lol I already have 1 in my first Disney store order so hoping to add a few more! My cousins made the mistake of introducing them to me, got me my first as a 21st pressie.

I have figured out that the Beauty & the Beast one I posted gets released in December so it's not sold out lol so I need to hunt for the best site for postage to Aus. There are 4 released after we get home that I want gah!!!! I will find a way :) they are just too pretty & do reasonable in the US to pass up.
