Counter service meals at DHS

If you were going to spend one day at DHS and needed three meals plus snacks but were not doing table service meals, what would you recommend? I hear so many people criticize the CS food there, I'm a little nervous. What's the best of the best CS?

Thanks!

Starring Rolls.

I think we're in the minority but we did NOT care for Starring Rolls. Very very crowded, limited selections for lunch and no kids choices. We don't love DHS for food but usually hit Pizza Planet!

We just went to Pizza Planet and thought it was good. Since it also doubles as an arcade, expect it to be noisy. But indoor, air-conditioned seating in the heat of August is always welcome. :thumbsup2

Our favorites are Pizza Planet and ABC Commissary. The fish basket at ABC is the same one they have at Columbia Harbour House at MK. So yummy! :goodvibes

My family really likes Backlot Express. We have never had a bad meal there.

This is our go to place. We have been there several times and we really love it. The hamburgers are really good. We have tried several things and we have never had a bad meal. I also like being able to refill our drinks there.

Pizza Planet is pretty good too but it's kind of loud in there.

Staring Rolls is a good place for a snack, but it's tiny in there and its crowded. Then you have to eat outside. I love sitting there in the late afternoon or at night to enjoy a cupcake, but I want to eat in the AC during the heat of the day at lunch.

I know it's not popular on the boards but I like Pizza Planet. The theme is cute and the pizza is ok. Same as the pizza you get at Pizzafari at AK, my kids enjoy it. I like to sit on the top floor and you can look at the aliens hanging from the ceiling. If you enjoy Toystory it's a fun experience.

We usually do the Backlot Express. Not fantastic but not terrible either. Pizza Planet has a cool theme, but I hate the pizza. Yes, it is the same pizza you get everywhere else on Disney property (except a Via Napoli and a few other places that have flat breads). It is terrible. If we go there, I get the salad, which is ok. Starring Rolls is probably the best option, but they have few seats. It is hard to really eat there. It is also very small and often has long lines.

We struggle for eating at DHS. the ABC Commissary is maybe the best for counter food (burgers, hot dogs etc) but way way too busy. We enjoy Starring Rolls as always quiet and nice to sit outside, food is quite tastey too.

Breakfast would be from Starring Rolls.

Lunch would be from the ABC Commissary. (People compalin about this place, but I find the Chicken Curry Bowl to be a pleasant break from the same-'ol, same-'ol. It's pretty good.)

Dinner would be from Fairfax Fare. Funny how people are always raving about Flame Tree in AK, yet this place gets no love. Not all that different. Big plate of food for the money. And very close to the hand-scooped ice cream for dessert!

We always eat at ABC Commissary. I enjoy the fish basket. For CS it has a very nice variety.

We love Backlot Express, good turkey sandwhich with indoor and outdoor seating depending on the weather.

We like the ABC Commissary. Its air conditioned and has some different choices. It always has seem real calm and somewhere to get away from the rush.

My personal favorite place to eat in HS is the Studio Catering Company. It has different types of sandwiches and it right next door to Backlot Canteen where you can get yourself a drink ;)

We always eat at the ABC Commissary at DHS. We like that better than the Backlot restaurant. Plus, it's air conditioned. ;)
