Disney done differently, (BOG dining updates pages 202 and 203)

I loved each and every one of the pictures. Anakin is grinning like a possum (that's an old Southern saying just in case you didn't know) so I know he was having a great time. The AoA looks amazing!

The Nemo Section has the main theme pool. The Cars section has it's own pool too. The Lion King Section does not have it's own pool. If that makes a difference to you and your family.

Actually, last time we were in Disney we stayed at POFQ and didn't use the pool once. :confused3 We never have enough time to do everything at the parks, let alone the resort since my dad insists that 4 days at Disney is "the most [he] can imagine anyone doing, no one would ever stay longer" :sad2:

Anakin is very excited about his school work today. He really "gets" it today. He is almost done with his seatwork, so I'll be needed for the rest of it.

I don't know if you remember, but part of his occupational therapy was making diagonals. He was unable. This wasn't part of his lessons, but he asked to learn how to make arrows. He can make arrows now, they have 2 diagonals!! Now the handwriting is coming together so much better!!

So glad Anakin was enthusiastic about school today! :thumbsup2 I'm glad his handwriting is improving and he is learning to make arrows. Neat! :yay:

Never heard that saying. He wants to stay there so bad. We have resies for POP in Sept, we'll be taking long walks more than likely!

4 days?! The majority of our trips are 2 days on weekends. 3 nights makes it seem like a vacation to me. But it is a challenge to get everything in. Do you park hop or stick to one park a day?

Late yesterday afternoon we headed over to the MK to purchase the new Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom at home game and cards. As we entered the gate, a cm saw Anakin's cards and told him about the cards at Emporium. We told her that is exactly why we came.

We got to the counter at Emporium and the cards were sold out!! The cm said there was such a line for them at opening that they sold out at 10Am!!!! 10AM?! What was Disney thinking? Why didn't they order enough? They know the game is widely popular. We were told try back next week.

Anakin was disappointed, but he didn't cry. I was really surprised. He looked like he lost his best friend, but there wasn't a tear in his eye. This is the first time he has ever handled disappointment this well!!

We played 1 round of SMK, then ate supper at the Columbia Harbour House. When we entered the restaurant, a cm escorted us to the reserved section and handed us a menu. Told us to go up and order when ready. They handled the gluten free meals wonderfully. I had tuna without bread. Anakin had gluten free chicken tenders. He said they didn't taste as good as the "real" ones but he ate them all. DH had the broccoli and chicken salad. We didn't get dessert anywhere.

Dh wanted to ride Buzz Lightyear, so we headed there. On the way, a woman came up to Anakin and asked him if he likes swords. He emphatically answered, "yes!!!". She pulled a sword out of her bag and gave it to him. I thanked her but said she certainly didn't need to give him anything. She said that she and her dh ate at CRT and they didn't need the toys that came with the meal. She gave her husband's sword to Anakin and he was in heaven! So he didn't go home empty handed!! He was pixie dusted with a CRT sword!! How very wonderful of this couple!! If you are reading, thanks so much!!!

Here's some highlights from last night. When we arrived at the TTC it had just STOPPED raining!! The parking lot was "empty" figuratively speaking. It would have been the perfect time to go puddle jumping, but thankfully Anakin didn't think of it!!

I'm still trying to figure out this camera. I love how quickly it shoots! I captured fireworks while on the monorail!

We were eating supper and Anakin looked out the window. He saw Big Thunder Mountain in the backround. He was so excited. He begged me to take a picture. He said we could take a picture of it and send it to his Grandma and tell her we were at the Grand Canyon as a joke.

The sword. Do you see my lime green Mickey? It's a key chain I found at DTD the day I bought the Kingdom Keeper books III and IV. I saw people look at it, but nobody has approached us yet from the DIS.

It was raining when we got off the ride. The castle looked like a Halloween time picture with the rain and the lighting, huh?

DSC_0193.jpg

It was a pretty steady rain as we headed out of the park. There was a delay with the monorail. The monorail was very station was very crowded. We were just behind the chain. A cm saw there was room for one more wheel chair and opened the chain just for us! We got our 5th ride on the Avenger's monorail. Yay, even more pixie dust. (Though dh kept calling it the Tronerail.)

Anakin watched the Disney Channel Movie on dh's phone while we were held up on the monorail. By the time we got off the monorail it had stopped raining!

On the school front:

Anakin is reading again!! 2 and 3 letter words. He is even beginning to remember sight words. He is truely grasping the rule that ck goes at the end of short vowel words and ke goes at the end of long vowel words. I never learned that rule. Also to tell if a vowel goes with K or C. He is counting by two's either by odd or even numbers. He is counting forward and backwards by 1's to and from 200. And learning the value of pennies, dimes, $1 and $10 bills. He is also learning the geography of where he lives, to develop healthy habits, and about muscles. He has also learned to write cursive e, i, t, u, o, l, h, f, T, f, c, d, g, b, k, m, n, s, S, G. Whew!! Just in the first 11 lessons of school! Of course, it's taken us more than 11 days for him to fully grasp all these concepts. But he's off to a great start!

I don't understand why Disney does that sort of thing. If I had planned a trip around being there for that I would be ticked! Good job on Anakin controlling his emotions, that was very grown up of him.

What pixie dust!! How nice of the lady to give Anakin the sword!! You can tell by the smile on his face that he really was thrilled with it.

I am glad you are having so much fun with your camera! I know I am enjoying the pictures!

How great about Anakin's school!! I was never taught that rule myself, it sounds like everything is clicking and that is great!

Well, keep in mind that is 4 days only every couple of years. We do park hop, last time we only got like a half day at Epcot which I was really sad about :(

What a bummer to have it kind of hyped up when you first arrived there only to be out of stock. :guilty: Obviously I haven't played the game yet (and probably won't get to) but it must be really fun if it is so popular!! I'm glad Anakin handled it pretty well, that's tough on anyone when you get excited and then let-down.

Love the way your new camera's pictures look! :yay::yay: Very sharp and clear! :thumbsup2 Is Lotso still a trigger for Anakin? (Or am I thinking of someone else...) They are making pillow pets for everything these days! :rotfl:

It was a let down. DH looked on ebay when we got home, and sure enough people are selling them at a premium. They made it a 5 pack maximum. They probably should have made it one pack per person. Rediculous to sell out an hour after park opening!!

If I was taught that rule, I didn't remember it.

I hope you get to spend more time at Epcot on your next trip. Maybe even get in a game of the Perry the Platapus thing. (My mind is drained. Can't think of the name, but it replaced the Kim Possible Missions.)

Yes, Lotso is still a trigger for him. However, he is no longer growling at people carrying around Lotso. He still won't watch Toy Story 3.

The only thing I might have against limiting is if in cases like mine where my kids are all so close in age that they went through stages at the same time. Then getting one would lead to feelings getting hurt. It ticks me off how people get them and then sell them at such elevated prices.

Ahhhh....love the fantasyland pictures! And Anakin looks like he had so much fun in the water...

I had read that they would be selling the cards and immediately thought of Anakin. You tell Anakin that I am extremely proud of him for not crying when he found out that they were sold out (very dumb of Disney not to order more than they did).

How very very sweet of the lady and her husband for giving Anakin their sword!

Anakin is moving right along with his school lesson isn't he!?! That's fantastic!

Love your lime green Mickey head keychain. I don't think too many people know about the LGMHs any more, especially now that the paint chips that started the whole thing are no longer available at Home Depot. I'll have to look for one of those keychains myself.

I am so excited to hear how Anakin is progressing with his schoolwork. That is just awesome! Tell him that someone in Pennsylvania is very proud of him.

Right now the limit is 5 per person. So a family of 4 could get 20 packs if everyone was present. If they limited it to 1 pack per person, that would decrease to 4 packs for that family giving more people the opportunity to buy them. Anyway you look at it, Disney goofed! Seriously underestimated when ordering.

Thanks, he had a blast.

We did condition him before we went. I checked online to see if there was any word about them selling out or not. Couldn't find anything, but told him we'd see if there were any left. I think that helped.

I am conditioning him now about the convention. That we can't get everything he sees. That some panels give gifts and some do not. How he should be happy for the people who get things even if he doesn't. How he should be appreciative if he does get something. etc.

That sword was just the icing on the cake!

I'm happy with his progress! But dh and I were talking this morning about getting all the lessons in by the end of the school year. We enrolled him at a different non-traditional private school this year. It is an accredited school. We'll still be using Abeka. We were told we had to finish 90% off the books, but they'd prefer 100%. It's taken him since July 10th to get through with 11 lessons. We have our work cut out for us. Though it only took him 2 days to do lesson 11. But even doing half the day's work a day, it will take 340 days to finish.

Here's hoping he'll need less attention break, have less meltdowns over learning new information, etc. He also has too high expectations of himself. He expects to be able to write like me right away. He doesn't like making mistakes and gets angry when he does. We are working hard on how we can learn from our mistakes, that it's perfectly normal to make mistakes and he can't hurt himself, us, or objects in the room when he makes a mistake.

Thanks! I didn't realize they didn't make the pain chips anymore. When did that stop? They had so many colored key chains at DTD, but after I bought my lime green there were only 2 more that color. It must be catching on!

He says he wants to go to Pennsylvania to Meme and Papa's, to Shady Maple, Zoo America and Chocolate World. He misses lightning bugs.

Catching up..... great pictures on the fantasyland updates. Happy late anniversary! AoA looks really neat. Have you stayed at any of the values? Which one did you like best? Was thinking of Pop for next year.

The pictures at MK were great! Loved the castle.....did look spooky! What camera did you get? Looking for new one before our March trip.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes!

We have stayed at all the values except AoA, but we have eaten there three times and walked the grounds. (At one point in time we set off to try each WDW resort, but we got stuck with our favorites and stay at the same ones over and over.)

AoA or Pop would be my first choices. AoA because it's over the top, and Pop because it is centrally located. The beds at Pop are very comfy. They got new matresses recently. We haven't stayed since they got the mini-fridge. But we have resies for Sept!!

If AoA or Pop wasn't available my next pick in a value is All Star Movies. It's the furthest away from anything, but I prefer the decor over Sports or Music. Also it seems most teen groups stay at Music or Sports and more families at Movies.

The only thing I don't like about a value resort is the size of the beds. I prefer a queen size to a double.

Can't wait to hear which value you choose!

I got a Nikkon 3100. After reading reviews, and seeing a sale at a store, we went with that. It's a very easy to use beginner camera. Right now, I'm using it as a point and shoot camera til I figure out what I'm doing. It was also very easy to download pictures from the camera to the computer without downloading any software. Though it does come with it's own software too.

The pictures of the construction were taken with a 50-200mm zoom lens, and the pictures of AoA were taken with the 18-50mm zoom lens. It is a bit of a pain to have to change lenses for close up vs far away pics.

My little lumix point and shoot has decent zoom and everything all built into a little compact camera and it was only $70, but it doesn't take pictures as crisp and clear as this new one.

I heard about the cards as well. Not sure if they're selling them out here, probably not because the game is out there. We still need #6 for the first 60, that card is gonna drive us nuts!! LOL So proud that Anakin didn't cry. Love the pics of the sword, and Love his Boba Fett hat!! Chris is a HUGE Boba Fett fan!!

Did Grumpy start college classes today? I was thinking about him last night. I hope he has a great year! :goodvibes

Also hoping that Anakin continues to make strides at his schoolwork, sounds like he is quite the perfectionist!

Not having a HD near us, I did not realize it until someone mentioned in another thread that they went to get some paint chips and found that the paint line had been discontinued.

Lightning bugs are few and far between now, the season is winding down. We had to turn our heat on yesterday! Never ever have I used heat in August before. We were in the 50s all day.

Tink, I just FINALLY read up on everything and also saw your wonderful pics of the fun you have been having. Thank you for keeping us up-to-the-minute on the latest changes. I am so proud of JJ for not crying when he didn't get his cards. I know he will have them soon and will enjoy them. He looks so cute and is really growing. I hope we get to meet up in a few weeks!

Mulan? We don't have any extra Mulan or I'd send you one.

Chris and Tyler should check out my SWW TR, lots of Boba Fett pics. There is a link to all the updates in the 2nd post. Anakin even got Jeremy Bulloch's autograph!

Thanks for thinking of him. He didn't start yet, all his friends started today. He has his schedule so that he only has classes a few times a week.

Yes, a perfectionist in some things, not to much in other areas.

Heat?! My mom didn't even tell me about a cold front. We use to go to the shore the week of Labor Day weekend, since school didn't start til after Labor Day back then. I don't ever remember a cold August. June, yes. August, no.

I was watching those pics while we were on the way out here. Looked like he really enjoyed that time. Not sure who # 6 is, I was prepared last time out there in case we came across someone with it, with a bunch of the stars just in case, but we didn't spend much time in MK, hopefully they'll have the card packs sorted out by the time we're back for my 40th, I'll buy a bunch then LOL
