We've met the nicest people in the smoking areas of the resorts.....as we gather with our morning coffee and discuss the days activities.....

You can count us in too! we'll be there from Aug 25 to Sept 17th. :goodvibes So, we'll be at the goofy area a lot. Last year DH and I sat on the benches around the lake. It was really nice in the evening and after the sun went down.;)

Any official word on AoA yet? I know there are spots around Hourglass lake -- but they are so isolated -- and as stated earlier its so nice conversing with the other smokers -- DW and I met another couple at ASSpor last Sept and DW still keeps in touch with them!

The best thing about smokers is their friendly nature :)

See you guys in September! We'll have a lot of ticked off smokers over by the Goofy jets! :) It really was nice to be able to have a smoke before going to the buses. I don't mind the bar area so much but I loved the area behind the main building, so convienient!!

Does anyone have an address/ phone # that we smokers can register our objections too !! I don't havr a problem with designated areas, but they need to be more of them and clearly marked !At Pop I can understand the one near the Main door being taken away , but the area by the bar is ridiculous , that needs to be reinstated !!

Well, when I was at Pop I complained... twice. the second time they brought over the manager.
but whoever I spoke to the first time gave me a card and says this:
Walt Disney World Guest Communication Services
P.O. Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, FL
32830-0040

and wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com... card says to include name, phone number email and home address when contacting them.

yeah, is nice before heading to bus to have a smoking spot... really, Goofy's isn't THAT far.. but really, for me it WAS out of the way.
at the time, 2 benches, one with an umbrella over it. that was it. always crowded. one day someone grabbed a table from where there are tables right outside along the food court and put it over there.

I totally agree, I have met people from all over the world at the smoking areas in the parks andd at the hotels.

DH and I had actually considered quitting before our trip to the world. But, we decided we'd hold off until after the vacation.
We both remembered we had a great time last year meeting people, in all the different DSA's.
At POP it was kind of neat to meet people in the morning and talk about the plans of the day, and then meet up later in the evening to talk about how things went. :smokin::chat:

I will be emailing , writing and complaining in person !!!If we don't make ourselves heard now we will have NO areas !!!

Folks, the FAQ threads need to stay on topic. They get unwieldy enough as it is, without off-topic posts.

This thread is solely for questions about the locations of smoking areas at the resorts. Personal conversations and planning meet-ups needs to be done elsewhere.

Thanks! :)

Has anyone smoked on the balconies at AKL? I always do this in hotels and never seems to be a problem. We smoke in the open air, flick the ash in a cup then clean it up and throw the butts away in the trash after. Was planning on doing this again at AKL; does anyone have any experience?

Also I think it'd be pretty amazing to have a sundown smoke on the balcony looking over the savannah!

Smoking is not allowed on balconies at WDW resorts, especially at AKL. They have cameras set up to watch the balconies to be sure you don't smoke or throw things on the savanna. They do a great job of protecting the animals, and I think you would get into a lot of trouble smoking on your balcony. You can enjoy a sundown smoke at the DSA near the pool. It has a lot of trees, nice benches and ash trays, is beside the hot tub, and has a very tropical, jungle feel to it. You aren't supposed to smoke even on the balconies overlooking the smoking area.

Some questions are better left not asked or unanswered. AKL has 2 DSAs, neither with any cover.

Hi Everyone; We just returned yesterday. AKL still have only 2. BLT wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Most of the time we crossed the sky bridge to Contemporary (our room was 6th fl south side) & smoked outside the 4th floor. Lots of benches & perfect view of the castle.
