Leaving the Grump at Home, Beach Club here I Come!, Link to TR 10/1 Post 198

That pillow is practically perfect! (It would be PERFECT if it belonged to me ;)). What a great gift and how nice that Anita got it for you. Aren't Dis friends the best???

You Day 4 sounds fantastic. It will be nice to be able to share the experience with your mom and Jared; but I still wouldn't want to get on ToT.

And yes, I do have plans in the works. Heading back to WDW in October 2013 (PTR link in my siggie below). There are about 4 DisGamers that are planning on meeting there at this time. Anyone wanna join us?

Your DHS plans sound great. We enjoyed the boat ride from BC over to the studios. We never walked over though.

Don't wait too long for your cupcake at Starring Rolls. Apparently they close up around 3'ish or so. I held out on a snack while the rest of my family had ice cream, because I was going to detour by there and grab one of those cupcakes I've lusting over! I got there and they were already closed!

Okay I made it, finally, and read your plans, and it all sounds fabulous! Makes me want another trip right now!! Lol! Yes, I loved Captain EO and Griffin and Nolyn thought it was silly, So they did tolerate it fine this summer! We ate in Mexico, btw, the menu is new, improved I think, but the churros are different. They are not the same... just be aware. Glad you are getting some time in AK. I missed it too, and we had 2 great days there this summer so I'm sure you will make up for missing it like we did! Oh and yes you must see fantasmic! We had dinner at Sci Fi too, boys love it! Great plans so far! Have not been to typhoon lagoon in forever. That will be our next trip!

Just found your PTR and I'm definitely jumping on board :goodvibes

I love all your plans so far. We've never done Typhoon Lagoon but the day we did Blizzard Beach we planned a "no plans" night and were so grateful for it. We took a long nap after we got back and then went over to Beaches 'n Cream before hitting EMH at HS. It is to this day one of my favorite days of any trip we've taken ::yes::

It is my dream to stay at Beach Club so I can't wait to read all about it!

Michelle, I don't know if you already do this, but you should take a pringles can with you to store your drawings in. It keeps them safe, dry, and wrinkle free!

Kathy, I found 2 Mary Poppins pillows on this trip. The first one was at the Emporium, the second was at island Mercantile, at DAK. In both instances they were the last in stock. Perhaps they will have more in when you go!

Sounds like a great trip so far! Can't wait to hear more of your plans.

Jill in CO

:cool1: Whoo hoo for 3 weeks.

Anita and Marc are such sweethearts.

Plans look great.

I can't wait to hear about Cape Mays dinner. We are going there too this year.

I hope I can get to it on my TR before you leave for your trip! I missed the start of your PTR while I was MIA, I need to get over there and check out your plans!

How the heck did I miss 3 updates. Not 1, not 2, but 3. Seriously, I need to get my act in gear. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

All the plans sound great. I'm thinking walking through Epcot and hopping the monorail to the TTC and walking over to the Poly is your best.

We've always loved Typhoon Lagoon (prefer it over BB); but with all the walking up the stairs to get to a slide, we've given up going. But it is a great water park.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: for a DIS meet with Anita. I LOVE the pillow. Where did she get it? I want one. :thumbsup2

Love your plans for the Studios and then going to Cape May. I'm with Jared...I could eat my weight in crab legs, although in my case that is NOT a good idea. ;)

I'm trying to get through my plans as quickly as I can because I'm hoping to have time to throw in some highlights from my girls only F&W trip last year that I never did a TR for...

Ha! I told my mom the other day that we needed to start walking stairs over the next 3 weeks to get ready for our TL day!

I think Anita found my pillow somewhere at the AK, I know they were hard to find though!

Yay for your mini meet! Love the pillow. :thumbsup2

The walk to DHS from the Epcot resorts is really nice. But so is the boat ride. I always love that first glimpse of the Studios. One of the best views in WDW!

Mmm, that Butterfinger cupcake is so good! Sounds like a great day!

I've done the boat ride a few times hoping from DHS to Epcot, so much nicer than a bus!

My mouth waters every time I look at that picture of the butterfinger cupcake, I really want to get one this time!

I love the pillow, I put it on my bed so that Don can see it everyday and remember that his wife is practically perfect ;)

I always like ToT when I ride it, but I freak myself out about it and talk myself out of riding most of the time.

I actually am thinking about a F&W trip for next year. I need to get over and check out your PTR!

Thanks for the heads up about Starring Rolls closing early, I didn't know that! I would have been so bummed if I waited until right before we left and they were closed!

Yay my Happydog is here!! :cool1: Captain EO, yes, well I don't think Jared will enjoy it quite as much as we did, I can see the eyeroll now

Churros, different good or not so good? I'm kinda interested in the caramel sauce they come with now.

I was sad we missed AK, but it was the right decision for us at the time, I really didn't want to miss out on F&W stuff!

Hey there! So glad you found me!

It feels weird to have a 'no plans' night, but I know I'm going to be grateful for it when the time comes. Everytime I've done a water park I'm exhausted afterwards, so I'm sure a nap will be in order!

Michelle, I don't know if you already do this, but you should take a pringles can with you to store your drawings in. It keeps them safe, dry, and wrinkle free!

I remember reading your tip about the pringles can somewhere else, that is a great idea! Remember our Christmas trip where the rolled up drawings fell out of the side pocket of the backpack and we lost them? I'm still sad about that!

Sounds like a great trip so far! Can't wait to hear more of your plans.

I'm hoping for a great trip! I'm going to try and make an effort to slow down and go with the flow on this trip, we'll see how I do

:cool1: Whoo hoo for 3 weeks.

Yes they are :goodvibes

Love all your plans so far!
I MUST have that pillow! You know what a big MP fan I am so I will be looking for that in October!
I will probably start a ptr sometime in September.:woohoo:

Day 2, Sunday, September 2nd
But when discussing plans with Jared he nixed that idea. He wants nachos and churros from La Cantina de San Angel, which I can always eat as well, so that is where we will go!

I am in the minority, I'm just not that into Sunshine Seasons. I love the seating area at the Cantina though haven't eaten there since they redid it. The menu looks good though!

Question for those of you who have stayed at the BC. I've heard bus service to the MK can be slow. Would it be better for us to go through Epcot and just monorail over to the Poly, or maybe even walk to DHS and catch the Poly bus? I'm leaning towards walking through Epcot, taking the monorail to the TTC and then walking to the Poly, thoughts??

I've done all 3 ways and there are pro's and cons to each. Taxi is certainly the fastest. Walk, Monorail, Walk (or monorail) works but I don't think saves you any time, plus if it's hot out you could be feeling pretty sweaty and icky by the time you get to dinner. My vote is bus/boat (as it's a pretty ride!), unless you are running late and then taxi. Boat to DHS, then Bus, then boat/walk/monorail would work too and be less walking IF you hit the friendship boat at the right time. For some reason, to me, the hike through WS and FW to the monoorail can seem long at the end of the day to get to dinner, but super easy and fast in the AM if grabbing a Soarin FP on the way to the MK. Go figure!

AND, they brought me this

Which I love!! Anita searched all over Walt Disney World to find that pillow for me, I tell ya, she's a gem! :goodvibes

that is adorable! I kept looking at some of those on our trip but didn't want to deal with lugging it home and didn't see the perfect one for my house. Yet.

By this point we will probably need a snack and after Jennifer (Happydog) turned me on to the carrot cake cookie at the Writers Stop last year, that has made it onto my must have list!

Carrot-Cake-Cookie-side-view.jpg

She should get royalties on that recommendation, I know she gave me the idea to try it! It is SO good but humongous. I need to find someone to share it with on the next trip.

I think you'll find TL to be more of a half day event depending on when you get there although I could go round and round in that lazy river for hours!

Ok, all caught up :goodvibes

We have a lunch ADR at Sci-Fi

IMG_2256.jpg

Someone is not looking too happy about having his picture made on this visit.

Looks like a fun day at Hollywood. Yay for Tower of Terror and seeing Little Mermaid again! Disney planning is so much fun!

I do know how much you love MP, I totally thought of you when I posted that picture! I know Anita had a hard time finding them (at least the one she picked up for me), hopefully they will restock them and they will be available when you go!

I just added another trip to my ptr too

No way! Yep, I gotta get over there and she what you are up to!

I am in the minority, I'm just not that into Sunshine Seasons. I love the seating area at the Cantina though haven't eaten there since they redid it. The menu looks good though!

Hi Cynthia! Thanks for coming over!

I've only eaten at Sunshine Seasons once. I had always avoided it because I just didn't like the noise and chaos that seemed to be in the area. Once I tried it I liked my salad well enough, but what will bring me back was the creme brulee.....

I'm really leaning towards going the taxi route. It's our only meal of the trip at a different resort, so paying for one cab ride won't be that big of a deal.

LOL at your analysis of the hike in the morning vs the evening. It's all relative to how your legs are feeling at the time I guess :thumbsup2

that is adorable! I kept looking at some of those on our trip but didn't want to deal with lugging it home and didn't see the perfect one for my house. Yet.

It's it cute?! I can see where it would be a pain to get home if you were flying. Thankfully for me Anita & Marc were driving so transport was a bit easier.

She should get royalties on that recommendation, I know she gave me the idea to try it! It is SO good but humongous. I need to find someone to share it with on the next trip.

Yes, it is way too much for one person! I had HD to share it with me last time and I'm sure my mom will be more than happy to indulge with me this trip!

I think you'll find TL to be more of a half day event depending on when you get there although I could go round and round in that lazy river for hours!

Yeah, I was thinking 10 until 2 or 3, I'm sure my legs will be done climbing stairs by that point

Someone is not looking too happy about having his picture made on this visit.

Yes, well he wasn't angry about the picture, he was mad at me because I told him he couldn't order something he wanted. Don't even remember what it was now but I do remember that I gave in and let him have it, we were on vacation after all ;)

I'm determined to fit the Little Mermaid into the plans this time!

Looks like a great day at DHS. I want the cowboy side too!!! I always get gangster. I always think I will ask and then realize it once I am on the ride and it is too late. :confused3

Love your pillow! How nice of Anita. :)

Ooo, I love your new pillow Michelle! :thumbsup2

It's hard to plan around the shows in DHS so I think your idea going in sounds great. Definitely get a cupcake from Starring Rolls! We plan to eat lunch there and I am soooo excited for the dessert part. :rolleyes1

I do the same thing, forgetting to ask for the cowboy scene :headache:

I see all these pictures of the scrumptious looking cupcakes they have there and I always tell myself I'm going to get one and I never do. Hopefully this time I will!

Ummmm, look what I got today......

:cool1:  :yay: WOO HOO! MICKEY MAIL!! :yay:  :cool1:

In other news, I read today that The Magic, The Memories and You show will cease on September 3rd while they revamp it into a new show that is supposed to start sometime around the holidays. I have never seen this and really want to catch it before it goes away! This means that I am either going to have to go to the MK on our arrival night OR catch it on Sunday after our 'Ohana dinner. It is my understanding that it starts about 15 minutes before Wishes, right? Wishes on Sunday night is at 10, so I really think we should be able to make it in plenty of time with a 6:55 ADR time. Thoughts??

Now, on to our day 5 plans:

Day 5, Wednesday, September 5th

We will have to get up early this morning because a trip to Walt Disney World is not complete for me unless I catch the opening ceremony at the Magic Kingdom at least once!

IMG_7361.jpg

I think we will focus on the right side of the park today. We will grab FPs for Space Mountain

800px-Magic_Kingdom_Space_Mountain.jpg

On our way to Fantasyland. I want to ride the new & improved Dumbo, but I just know my feet will take me directly to Peter Pan's Flight

disney-magic-kingdom-peter-pan-flig.jpg

It would just feel wrong to not make this our first ride of the day. I don't think I'd say that it is my favorite attraction in all of WDW, but I can say that it is the one that makes me feel like a kid more than any other and it immediately puts a smile on face. :cloud9:

So after I get my Peter Pan fix, we will head to Dumbo. I haven't ridden this in years, but I feel compelled to with the re-vamp and I really want to check out the new 'non queue'!

dumbo-ride-1.jpg

Jared has told me that he will relent to ONE and only ONE ride on It's a Small World, so I want to get that in early before he changes his mind

IMG_3931.jpg

Then we will head back to Tomorrowland for a spin on Buzz

20110427-florida-0580.jpg

A cruise on the Peoplemover will be a must

IMG_7441.jpg

And a trip back in time on the Carrousel of Progress

IMG_7434.jpg

We may even make time to see the Monster's Inc Laugh Floor. We've never seen this, mostly because I have an irrational fear of being singled out, but I've heard it's fun so I need to suck it up and go.

LaughFloorSign.jpg

I can tell you with no hesitation at all that we will NOT be riding Stitch - what a horrible waste of space that attraction is :sad2:

We will stop and catch Mickey's Philharmagic

mickeysphilharmagic.jpg

on our way to lunch at Columbia Harbour House

IMG_3991.jpg

Where I want to try the fried shrimp

IMG_3987.jpg

But I'm sure I will end up with my 'go to' Anchor's Aweigh sandwich instead

IMG_3986.jpg

After lunch we will probably ride the Haunted Mansion

IMG_7403.jpg

I'm excited for Jared to see the new queue

IMG_7388.jpg

(Check out Jenjolt & Happydog!)

Then we will head back to the Beach Club for some R&R at Storm-A-Long Bay. If I haven't already, I will be trying the Tangerine Dream, I hope it tastes as yummy as it sounds!

Dinner tonight will be at La Hacienda, a first for all of us. I can't wait for those shrimp tacos!

LaHacienda_0011.jpg

Yay! Mickey Mail! :cool1:

Monster's Laugh Floor is really funny...you should go. :)

Jill in CO

Mickey Mail time!!! It is really getting close and REAL now.. :goodvibes

Yes, get in early for IaSM when you can. You never know....he might consent to a second round on the day. :upsidedow

Your Mickey mail is interesting. I'm going after you are & I got my Mickey mail over a week ago.:confused3

Your plans look great! I'm bummed that we won't get to see the Memories show again. That was such a wonderful show.
