Swimming in the rain

Noticed it will be raining on my upcoming 8/25 cruise...for most of the cruise! Do they let you swim in the rain? Anyone else been on a rainy cruise and how was it?
Thank you!

If there is rain, it's usually isolated areas and the captain can sail around it. If you look at an extended forcast for FL in the summer it will almost always have rain on it pretty much every day. However, if it does rain, it's usually only for an hour or less in the afternoon. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

My kids have swam when it was lightly raining on the cruise.

On our Western back in 2010, we had torrential downpours while docked in Cozumel, extremely windy and rainy, so no swimming that day though.

The accuweather forecast for Nassau and Florida from 8/25 thru the latest I can get, 8/29 is rain. Just rain. So bummed. Hope it changes or it is sporadic as you say.

It rained on our Cozumel day and Costa Maya. The kids still swam in the big pool in Costa Maya. Pirate night was rainy and they moved the earlier pirate show (with Mickey and Minnie) inside to the atrium. Talk about crowded and then by the time of the late show and Club Pirate the captain was able to find a clear spot. Of course the pools were closed for the party of course.

The weather forecasters for the Bahama's, Mexico or Caribbean are no more accurate than those in your own area. At 10 days out from the start of your cruise all they can do is rely on trends.

Any weather forecast more than 3 days out is rife with inaccuracy.

I'm sure you'll have mostly sun. There is no logical reason (like a hurricane) to expect rain 24/7 for 5 days in a row in the Bahamas. That just doesn't happen.

We are cruising then too. We've spent a lot of time in the Bahamas and Caribbean in the summer and usually get rain at some point. But it usually moves fairly quickly. We've never had an entire tropical vacation rained out.

The last time we were at Castaway Cay it rained toward the end of the day. It cut our day there a little short but we just had a little more time on the ship!

Last time on the Dream, it rained. To me it was hilarious. There was a mass exodus from the pool and within a short time me and the kids had the family pool all to ourselves. With walk on Aquaduck. I'm not sure why everyone left except that that they were afraid to get wet while swimming.

That always makes me laugh. If you stick it out long enough, usually it clears in the Caribbean.

We did a cruise in Feb. a couple of years ago. The first two days were hot and sunny and the last 5 days were cold, windy, rainy and foggy!!! We got onto Grand Cayman, but it was so cold and windy the water excursions were all cancelled and it was just too crummy to sit at a beach. We shopped, ate and headed back to the ship. We missed Jamaica completely (sad....one of our favorites) and people were on the decks in blankets, long pants and sweatshirts! i don't even THINK about bringing that stuff on a cruise, so where they got it, I don't know. i do know the gift shop sold out of all jackets and sweatshirts by the third day of the cruise.

kind of put a damper on everything, but it didnt' ruin our cruise....completely.

To answer your question, yes, we have swam in the rain. If it's lightening, we get out. Swimming in the cold and wind....that's another story.

We have swam in the rain a few times. So long as there is no lightening, it is fine :) like others say, most people leave which is nice;)

We have been on one DCL and one Celebrity cruise with lots of rain and cool weather. In both cases the Cruise Staff added plenty more indoor activities to keep us busy and they were fabulous cruises.
