Flight time out of Texas?

Hi
Does anyone know if I could make a flight out of IAH at 1.35pm after disembarking the Magic.
Thanks in advance
nikki

It would be close... but, if you took the tollway (beltway 8) AND it was not a workday, you should be fine. As crazy as this sounds... if you leave after 9am, you would get to IAH faster and with WAY less traffic drama. I would not chance it, personally. I grew up near Houston and I would not risk it. Also, have you checked to see if Hobby Airport is cheaper? It usually is.

Nevermind, I just saw you were in AB... Hobby is probably not an option. And with the security at IAH, you would more than likely miss your flight. Book for later, grab an AMAZING lunch (french cajun/ creole) at Papadeaux near IAH and have a relaxing flight?

Thanks CeCeGarrett. We are actually thinking of driving into Montana and then flying out of there are prices are ridiculously cheaper! There is a 4.10pm flight, maybe I will go with that for peace of mind. Also, I can only get flights into IAH.
Thanks
Nikki

With the amount of construction on I-45 South (both northbound & southbound lanes), I would not chance it, even on a Saturday. Traffic can get crazy backed up on the weekends w/ people heading down to the beach or up into town for the afternoon. While you *might* be able to make it, I wouldn't chance it. Go for the peace of mind and book that 4:10 PM flight. You'll end up at the airport with plenty of time to spare and then you can pop into the bookshop and get a magazine or grab some food before boarding your flight home.

HTHs! :thumbsup2 & Happy sailing! :sail:

we just booked the cruise and I just assumed it left on the sunday:confused3 as our last one was a Sunday. Luckily i hadnt booked flights but we are going to book the one leaving at 3.30pm. Hopefully we will get there in time
Soooo excited now we are going.

Collectoroholic, would you mind posting a review of the inaugural cruise after you go? We're going 11/24 out of Galveston, and I was curious if they'll do the Pirate night that I've heard of (they didn't on our DCL cruise in Alaska). Thanks! - Julie

I am so glad you booked the later flight! You will be much happier.

Also, it's been 6 years since I have seen my favorite TX town of Galveston and I am SO excited to be back home in TX if only for a day. I don't know if things have changed, but as someone who drove I45 at least monthly to get to Galveston for 15 years, do NOT speed on I45 from South Houston/Pasadena to Galveston. MAJOR speed traps.

We booked a 230 flight out of hobby. Is this too soon???
We've been on a couple of cruises (non-DCL) in and out of Galveston.

The good news is Houston Hobby (HOU) is a small airport. The bad news is the security lines can be very, very long. (TIP: There is a separate shorter security line if you are flying first or business class or have upper class status. Sadly, we did not qualify.)

Last time, I think our flight was at 2:30 or so, and we just barely made it. After we finally cleared security, we dashed straight to the gate and our flight was already boarding. Later we learned that many people on our cruise roll call missed their flights because of the long security lines at HOU.

If HOU has added more TSA staff, you should be fine. Otherwise, I would just get to the airport ASAP.

YMMV.

I'll try, Julie. :thumbsup2 They will have Pirate Night on the Galveston sailings. I called DCL to get the attire run down for the various nights & Pirate Night was mentioned. pirate: HTHs! & Happy Sailing! :sail:

They don't do pirate night in Alaska because it's rather chilly at night, and the ecology is too delicate for the fireworks.

Yes, I understand that, but Julie was wondering about Pirate Night fireworks for her cruise out of Galveston, TX because they did not have them on her Alaska cruise. She asked me to report back after I sail on the inaugural sailing out of Galveston in Sept. I went ahead and let her know that there will be Pirate Night fireworks on the Galveston, TX sailings b/c DCL told me so when I called them on Sunday afternoon. :thumbsup2

Hopefully this clears things up. :goodvibes:

AWESOME! Thanks for that info! I was sad they didn't do pirate stuff in AK. I knew they wouldn't do fireworks, but I had been hoping to be able to dress up as a pirate. Good to know I can pack pirate gear for Galveston.

What??? They didn't do pirate night this year in Alaska?

We had Pirate Night last year without the fireworks of course :( but we still dressed up and had deck party. They even showed Pirates of Caribbean on jumbo pool screen afterwards.

That's weird. We cruised to AK last year and didn't have pirate night. Maybe I was oblivious to it?? We were on only the second DCL cruise in Alaska so perhaps they hadn't added it in yet? I felt jipped at the time & now even more so if they did do it. Oh well.
