I'd like to do this for my dd turning 13, but it doesn't look like all that much in the online pic.

Wondering if someone else had done this and taken pics of the room and cake?

thx!

Here is a picture of our ydd w/ her cake. The little decoration pictured isn't the only decoration that came with it. There was a banner that was hung up in the room, as well as something similar to the decoration next to the cake that hung down from the ceiling. There was also a giant Happy Birthday door magnet for the outside of our stateroom door. It's definitely something fun to do for your child that is celebrating their birthday while on the cruise. You can have it set up on the embarkation day so it'll be there when you enter your room or you can set it up to be on a different day. Whichever you like, they'll do for you.

HTHs! :thumbsup2 & Happy sailing! :sail:

thanks SO much, she sure looks happy!

Even though my dd's bday is on our port return day, we'll celebrate the final day in Castaway Cay.

I do love the idea though of the room being all decorated when we arrive, even though it's officially one week early. Gives us a good reason to celebrate all week long. :cheer2:

Nothing wrong with that! & Be sure to stop by Guest Services and get her a Birthday button to wear (if she'd be into that).

Happy sailing! :sail:

That's great! My DGS turns 12 in the middle of my cruise. Who do you ask to set up the birthday stuff & cake like on the Tuesday of the cruise instead of embarkation day?

It's my understanding that for the cake etc, it's only on embarkation day. You pre-order through the gifts page on DCL.

If you find out differently, please post and let me know too.

Here is the link to look at the things you can order for on-board gifts and amenities.

It may be different now, but the first time I did a pre-order for a birthday celebration, I was able to select what date on the cruise I wanted the birthday cake and room decorations to be set-up as a surprise in our stateroom. I ordered the birthday package for my husband on our 2008 Panama Canal cruise and selected the date b/c we were sailing on his actual birthday, so I wanted the room decorated and cake delivered on his birthday. Looking back at the pictures from that cruise right now, I can confirm that it was all done on his birthday, which was NOT embarkation day.

Now fast forward, and I am not sure whether or not you can still select a specific day on your cruise for your room to be decorated and the cake to be delivered. The pictures I posted above for our DDs birthday celebration...we had that all delivered/decorated on embarkation day.

So moral of the story, just be sure to ask if you can choose a specific day for delivery/decorations if you want it done on a specific date. If they can (still) do it, I'm sure they will. But even if they can't, having it done on embarkation day is still a special thing for the birthday celebrant. pixiedust:

We ordered the package for our son in May. ( I have pictures on my phone..would be happy to email them.) The cake was in our room when we arrived. (it is a yellow cake.-- we took it to dinner with us, and then put in fridge and had it for breakfast.. it was better chilled.)

Our son was excited with all the decorations! :)

I was pleased with what we got.. I love the huge magnet.
