i was hopping to book a room at the new art of animation hotel thinking ( ITS VALUE ) but NOOOO the little mermaid was all book and the rest of the ( suites) were almost more expensive then modert hotel this really anoyed me. i know that hotel is geard for larger families but GRRRR i really wanted to stay there and it seems there like 100 mermaid rooms come on disney really !

im glad they have it for big familes just bumed i cant stay this trip

Art of Animation is a family suite hotel. They used the set of buildings from the original Pop Century construction for the Little Mermaid rooms. My guess is those wouldn't be there if the buildings hadn't already been built, so it's actually a lucky thing that there are any rooms at all.

They needed the family suites, they have generally enough inventory of value rooms so they didn't need to add more. Only during free dining do they overbook and that hasn't been as common lately. This year there haven't been a lot of threads of free upgrades offered from the values, so I'm guessing they are not over-full.

As a family of 5, I'm glad AOA is majority family suites.

There are 288 or 432 Little Mermaid rooms.

Along with 1,960 rooms at All Star Sports; the same number at All Star Movies; about 1,200 at All Star Music; and 2,880 at Pop Century. That's over eight thousand Value Resort non-suite rooms. It's too bad the OP won't be able to stay in a room with the decor she/he wants, but there's something to be said for anticipation. Nothing wrong with waiting until an AoA suite is in the budget.

We can't justify the cost either I mean we'd love to stay there but I can get 2 rooms with 4 beds at the POP and AOA would be table beds and pull out chair beds....etc. I'm sure they are comfy but really it all comes down to a place to sleep and shower.

While there is definitely a market for these family suites, I think the AoA Suites are quite overpriced for what you get IMO. About $100 more per night than a mod regular season and $80 more than two standard rooms at the other values, with fewer beds. . There is only one real bed in the suite.

If I have 5 people, I'm doing POR AB over this every time.

Don't get me wrong, I think the art and decoration is great! I will definitely go over for a look around. But over the course of week's visit, that stuff wears off rather quickly for my family.

Hopefully, when the fascination with the new resort wears off, and the folks who normally stay at the higher levels have had their "gotta check it out" needs sated, the price will get to a level more in keeping with what a value should cost.

I agree that AoA seems overpriced. Having said that we'll be staying there on arrival day for a night before checking into the THV villas the next day. I couldn't resist the Nemo suites if only for a night.

As a family of five, I won't stay there. Maybe try it out for one night, but not for a week! POR AB is that much more cheaper, and if I wanted to pay more, I'd go deluxe!

I am hoping that once they aren't new anymore, they will go lower in price.

I also agree that they are over-priced ~ but they will have no problem filling them up. They are perfect for larger families, especially with young kids, who need to be in the same room/suite as their parents. We might eventually stay in one, since my children are younger, but when they are older, I would choose 2 value rooms over a suite, hands down.

I've had a little difficulty deciphering the spelling errors in this post, but from what I can understand, OP, you are apparently upset that you have not been able to book a LM room for your upcoming visit and are also upset that the suites are too expensive for you. You also seem to be misinformed as to the number of LM rooms, although you do realize that this resort is intended primarily for families of +4 who require a less expensive suite than they would find at other WDW resorts.

I hope you are able to realize that there will always be very heavy demand for any newly opened resort. I also hope that you realize that (if you are only now trying to get a reservation for LM) these rooms have been booked up for months already. You don't state when your vacation will be, but if it's any time before the new year, then you have simply waited far too long. I really don't understand what you are complaining about, other than not being able to plan your vacation sufficiently far in advance. So sorry that you are "bumed".

I certainly wasn't surprised that the prices for the LM rooms are (for now) more expensive than the other values. With the intense interest generated in this resort, and the heavy demand for reservations, Disney would have been fools not to take advantage of it. These prices may reduce in a couple of years as interest declines a bit, but I'll bet they will remain slightly higher than the rest of the value rooms. As for the cost of the suites being too expensive- first of all, they are suites and not rooms. Suites are ALWAYS more expensive, no matter where you are. And secondly, since when have ANY Disney resort rack rate prices been anything other than overpriced for what you get? This is nothing new, people!

I'm sorry but Suite or not (and a Suite with only one Queen and the rest convertible beds, and a kitcheonette with no more than most mod or deluxe rooms at WDW) they aren't worth the price of a Deluxe room (rack rate), which is what they are priced at.

I gonna spell sum wordz wrong, so you can take an unnecessary shot at my spelling too. The rest of us had no trouble getting the gist of what the OP was asking.

Mostly because I thought it would be nice to let DD5 sleep somewhere removed from the TV etc after a day at the park. When we priced out the difference between the suites and a LM room, the price difference was huge! I forget exact amounts but it was big enough that our decision was easily made for us. We're staying in the LM rooms and we can't wait! However, I'm not looking forward to sharing a bed with a 5 year old, which is unavoidable.

Then you're not the target market for the Art of Animation Family Suites, either. Last time I stayed in a hotel suite that was two actual bedrooms, I was twelve and the hotel was in New York City. A hotel suite can be a variety of configurations, but all are typically some version of a sleeping area/room and a living area/room.

The original post is barely comprehensible (and yes, I saw the explanation and apology). I, for one, would greatly appreciate you not speaking on behalf of everyone reading it and making the entirely unsubstantiated claim that "The rest of us had no trouble...".

I can certainly see why the Little Mermaid rooms will be more popular than the other value resorts, same room at a brand new resort with some really cool looking decor and amenities. But they arent even opening until after our trip, so even though we are only 3 people we sprang for the Nemo suite for 3 nights before we move over to a DVC resort. Couldnt resist, it looks so fun!

But its definitely to be expected that the LM rooms are gonna go quick!

LOL.. Both of my kids are magnets to me... I cant even sit on the sofa without them both climbing on me.
