Mr. and Mrs. Weak Sauce Go the Distance (a completed Disneymoon TR!)

YAY Animal Kingdom!! I just love walking into that park-you're right, it has such a different feeling than the others.

ITTBAB is a good show. We don't do it a lot but it's always amusing when there are first timers in there. Though really I love first timers' reactions on anything! :goodvibes

I love It's Tough to be a Bug! First, I LOVE the underground waiting area. I just wish everyone would be quiet so I could hear all the wonderful songs being performed by the insects.

BUT, I'm completely in love with it for terribly selfish reasons. I about die laughing at the reactions of the adults and kids after Hopper comes out. I know that's terrible and I feel awful for the kids, but you see so many parents just breeze right by the warnings never thinking twice until their child is screaming bloody murder in their ear.

I love the very end (before you get to leave your seat ;) ) and, last year, this elderly woman jumped on my fiance's lap when she got "stung" by the hornets/wasps. :rotfl:

You are a braver woman than me for going on ITTBAB for your first attraction! As you know from reading my PTR, that is on the list of "defintely not doing" for our Disneymoon. I think my DH would go if I wanted to, but I don't think he was too dissapointed when I said no!:rotfl:

I love the entrance theme of DAK. It feels like you are in a forest instead of at WDW. I also love ITTBAB. I am the same way as I dislike the stinging part and the stink bug, I always sit at the edge of my seat and hold my nose (for the stink bug part of course lol) So don't feel bad. I love the pictures that you and your DH took. I can't wait to read more about your honeymoon and see all the pictures that you guys have taken. I will keep tuning in. Take care :-)

We love taking our time to look at all the details in AK. Every one of the shops are amazing!

I hear ya about ITTBAB! I can get claustrophobic sometimes and being in the queue bothers me a bit. All those people squished together with their bug eyes on, :scared1:.

You are right about the branch falling from the Tree of Life. I read about that. Thank goodness no one was standing underneath when it happened! But honestly, if it happens again, is that net going to keep it from falling on anyone?

Your wedding was so beautiful! :) It's really fun reading about your honeymoon. We honeymooned at Disney World, too, and your TR is bringing back all sorts of memories- the thrill of the first hotel room we shared and being there on our own and the surreal feeling that we were really married. Our first Disney attraction was the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, so I think ITTBAB might actually be a step up from that!

Congratulations!!
I'm glad you posted wedding photos too, they are beautiful. I love the pink & green!

I tried to post on your report a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't stay logged in. The dis still keeps logging me out every so often. :confused3 I don't remember everything I was going to say. :sad2:

I love reading about your Disneymoon! Glad you had a great dinner your first night!
Animal Kingdom Lodge looks beautiful! The rooms and the grounds. That would be fun to just sit and relax overlooking the savannah.

Its great that you experienced so many firsts - airport monorail, magical express, staying on property, disney bus!!!

I love your trip reports! Subbing in!

Thank you! So glad you're here!

I have read almost all of your trip reports and I am really surprised to find out that you like ITtbaB!!
That show freaks me out! I hate the whole Hopper scene. It starts off so innocently and then goes into a nightmarish downfall!

:)

And I never noticed the faces until you said something....now I see them too! :scared: :p

Haha, yeah, it really doesn't seem like something I would enjoy at all! I think it's fun only because I knew what to expect. I remember experiencing it when I was like, in 7th grade. It's just so entertaining to watch other people's reactions! Not the children but the adults, haha. That being said, I wouldn't go watch it alone, haha.

HOORAY, my first Weak Sauce point!!!

Isn't it crazy how close AKL is to AK? When we were on our way to AK last week, I noticed AKL for the first time. I stared at it for a while and then next thing I knew we were entering Animal Kingdom. I was like... well, that was fast...

It's tough to be a bug is a PERFECT first attraction! It's one of my favorites!

Oh, and by the way, you weren't imagining things! Apparently a piece of the Tree of Life did fall! Isn't that freaky?

Yay for you!

Haha, I liked that it was our first park just so that we could experience how fast it was! And then thereafter, we always got seats on the bus, so at least we didn't stand long for this ride!

Ooo, so it did fall down! That would've been crazy to see!

Haha, ITTBAB is a weird first attraction, but I guess it makes sense if you guys wanted to go to Flame Tree! I'm terrified of ITTBAB! I've read so many TR's about the bees stinging you through your seats and I am DEATHLY afraid of bees so I've always avoided it! :rotfl2: Maybe I should be brave and finally see it, I mean, it does look cute except for the stinging part...and I guess it's not exactly real...:rotfl:

Haha, it is a weird first attraction for us because it's usually Epcot first and that means Soarin' or something like that. But I guess in my mind, the first attraction was really Flame Tree! I wanted those o-rings so badly! As for the stinging, I always sit at the edge of my seat, so I never feel anything! I don't lean back at ALL! I'm a big ol' chicken!

Can't wait to hear more about your trip! Your wedding photos are beautiful, and I say, if you're going to spend money on something at your wedding, invest in a good photographer! Of course your entire wedding was gorgeous, so that made the photographer's job easy! And your makeup and dress were awesome as well!!!! All in all, a great success, it looks like. And duh, best honeymoon location ever!

Thank you! Yeah, that's what I figured too! No one would really care about the details, but whatever happened that day had to be captured with great photographers! I'm glad we spent the money on them. I think that's the most important thing. And I agree that WDW is the greatest for a honeymoon! Why not feel the magic?

:faint: I knew I got one . . . maybe two . . . but I can't believe I got all three right! Cool!

I'm not sure how I feel about It's tough to be a bug. I like it, but then again I know what's coming. I can't decide if we should take DS (who is only almost 3) on it or not. He loves bugs and he isn't very jumpy, but my luck he'll freak!:scared1:

Yay for you getting all 3! Haha, it's funny cuz when I saw your PM, I was like, "AWESOME!" and you wrote it with such assurance in my eyes.

I think I'd wait to bring my kids to see ITTBAB unless I had fully prepped the kids and they were looking forward to laughing or something. I don't want to submit my kids to something like that and have them panic at every other ride thereafter!

YAY Animal Kingdom!! I just love walking into that park-you're right, it has such a different feeling than the others.

ITTBAB is a good show. We don't do it a lot but it's always amusing when there are first timers in there. Though really I love first timers' reactions on anything! :goodvibes

I'm waiting to one day walk into that park with the cool weather! When we went in February with my cousins, we only did 2 parks and AK wasn't one of them, so I'm eager to walk and enjoy in the cooler months.

You're right! The first timers' reactions for anything is just awesome! It's like living through it all over again and seeing it through their eyes.

Yeah, these shows have so many awesome "hidden" things that most people don't appreciate. I wish they could understand that the pre-show had as much work done to it as the actual show!

Haha, that must've been hilarious when that woman jumped into your fiance's lap! That would've been such a memory!

You are a braver woman than me for going on ITTBAB for your first attraction! As you know from reading my PTR, that is on the list of "defintely not doing" for our Disneymoon. I think my DH would go if I wanted to, but I don't think he was too dissapointed when I said no!:rotfl:

Haha, it's definitely one of the shows that requires a bit more courage than let's say, Muppets 3D, but after having not been in DAK for so many years, I figured it was time to try it in April! When we were there in May for our honeymoon, it just seemed like the perfect thing to do cuz it was closest to where we were, haha. One day you might wanna give it a go though! You never know!

Haha, as brave as we are for experiencing ITTBAB, we know just what we don't wanna handle either! I just don't want to get hurt from the chair because I know some people have had a really uncomfortable experience. Hopefully, I can get another update up soon! I've been busy with other things.

The shops in DAK make shopping feel so different! Haha, to me, it feels as if we're not just in any other souvenir shop, so we had better look for some good things to buy!

That's true; I was wondering just how strong that net really was!

Thank you! I think it's fun to have been able to share our dating life and engaged life and then our married life with some of the same friends on DIS! Next will be like your latest TRs ... with babies! Haha, just not any time soon. I don't know if anything will beat the feel of our honeymoon! It really was such a thrill!

:sad2:

Its great that you experienced so many firsts - airport monorail, magical express, staying on property, disney bus!!!

Thank you! I can't believe all that work was just over in one day! But I'm super happy that the honeymoon lasts longer for a lot less time planning, haha. It's amazing that we got to stay on property for the first time for our honeymoon! We appreciated it so much!

So, I'm loving your TR... and I'm doing alot better at the games than I thought I would!:thumbsup2

Good job! I hope to post more rounds soon! I've been super busy with things around here so I haven't had a chance to be on DIS much.

I Need O-Rings!

After our first attraction visit at It's Tough To Be a Bug, it was the perfect time to head over to a just opened Flame Tree BBQ! It was much different than our April visit, which was our first time EVER because (1) we actually knew where it was this time, and (2) Howard didn't have his camera on the right setting this time, haha. It was set for ITTBAB, and he didn't realize it until after he took the shot. He switched it right away, but he didn't take it again because we were hungry!

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop1.jpg

I had one thing on my mind ... onion rings! It was only recently that I really got into onion rings. I'm a french fry kind of girl and still am, but I'm always craving very good onion rings. It's disappointing when you go to a diner or order them at a chain restaurant and find out that it's not a nicely done o-ring. The pictures of the Flame Tree BBQ o-rings in other people's TRs and in the food section of the boards really made me want to try it, so in April we did! GREATEST STUFF EVER!

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop2.jpg

While Howard was ordering, I took a picture of the decor.

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop3.jpg

And then I had to get a picture of that delightful menu! This is definitely one of the counter service places I'd recommend along with Columbia Harbour House. I think they have great choices that are a bit varied from the typical cheeseburger and chicken nuggets (that's not to say I don't love a Pecos Bill burger with cheese sauce to dip or chicken nuggets with barbecue or honey mustard sauce!). You gotta love the theming too!

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop4.jpg

I thought it was interesting how the cold case also has an opening in the back so that they can replenish the desserts and fruit plates.

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop5.jpg

It was crowded when we got our food, but we were able to find a table in the same area we ate in April. I don't quite know why we always go to that one. It's in complete shade, which I like, but it, like the other areas to eat, is very easily overrun by birds of all sorts! Thankfully, with a lot of people there, there were actually fewer birds from what I remember. In April, we ate with only a few tables being used, and the birds were just walking around on the ground or flying to land on the backs of chairs.

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop6.jpg

Crowds or not, I was still excited to eat! We decided to split 1/2 Slab of St. Louis Ribs ($10.69), which was served with baked beans and coleslaw. We also ordered a side of the ONION RINGS ($3.79) We brought the Vitamin Water from our Garden Grocer order. In a situation like this, it makes us feel better ordering a side since we don't have to spend extra on an expensive soda!

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop7.jpg

Let's look at this beauty! It's different than the ribs we normally have. This has the rub on it to make them delectable. Howard and I normally have ribs that are slathered in barbecue sauce. I was hoping I would really enjoy these, but just in case, I knew that there were the different kinds of barbecue sauce at the condiment station just in case I wanted it to be saucy! You all know how much I love to dip!

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop8.jpg

Well, what did I think? Absolutely DELICIOUS! I would definitely order this again. When we came in April, Howard ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and I had the BBQ chicken salad since I wanted something lighter at the time. No way will I order that salad again (unless it's out of necessity). The ribs will be my go to meal there! I took this picture after taking this bite so that you could see how easy it was to bite the meat off of the bone. I really enjoy ribs more when they leave clean bones, and it doesn't require that much gnawing. I might have to say that these were some of the best ribs I've ever had! They had an excellent flavor even without the sauce, and I liked the bit of crispiness they had as opposed to saucy ribs. Of course, this is coming from someone who lives in the suburbs of New York City, so I probably don't know as much about ribs as a Southerner (oh how I envy you Southerners and want to be you!).

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop10.jpg

The onion rings, however, were not as wonderful as I wanted them to be. I know you can't really have "light" onion rings, but when we ate them in April, they tasted lighter. Maybe it was the oil at the time? I'm not sure. They were still good, but I wanted that fabulous crunch that bites through the onion. This doesn't at all deter me from ordering them again. I just might think twice about having onion rings outside in May! I like eating them plain and then alternating between ketchup and barbecue sauce. In comparison to fries though, they were still absolutely delicious! Who doesn't want a big ol' slice of onion fried with batter?

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop9.jpg

Even though the rings weren't as good as our April visit, our entire meal was still rather tasty! We were happy campers, and we were ready to ... burn some of it off by browsing in the nearest gift shop, haha.

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop11.jpg

I don't like the Mad Hatter or anything like that, but I thought these tea cups were cute with the bottom saucer as the rim of the hat! The Mad Hatter hats DO remind me of Virtual Magic Kingdom though! I loved collecting tons and tons of hats so I could have options although I wore my Sorcerer Mickey and my "Princess Minnie" hat all the time once I got those.

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop12.jpg

These Goofy mugs were cute too. Howard and I don't really have these funky shaped mugs. We have a lot of mug pairs, as in he'll have the Mickey version, and I'll have the Minnie version. We get excited when we use 'em that way, haha. We're two big cornballs.

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop13.jpg

We're two big cornballs who have to take the pasta picture whenever we see it! You see, on a previous trip, Howard posed with this pasta. He had the funniest smile in the world, so we had to redo it the next time we went and then again this time! This smile isn't as bad as the first one (he didn't even know he was making that face whereas the other ones are forced), but I like it because you can see his ring! Even married, we still have to take a picture of pasta face!

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop14.jpg

Blurry but you gotta love the bright colors of the decor!

3-FlameTreeBBQandGiftShop15.jpg

Okay, so we now had food in our bellies and were rather satisfied and ready to move on! Where would we go?

I've never eaten at Flame Tree, but it always looks delicious. That also seems like a pretty good value for all that food!

Sorry that the onion rings disappointed, but luckily the ribs didn't!

My husband's must-have souvenir is a coffee mug. Those are so cute! What is the name of that shop?

Yay an update!! I gave up on the games because I'm not very good :rotfl2: I like the pasta picture, its a cute idea. I love onion rings, but they have to be done correctly. I know exactly what you mean. I haven't tried the ones at Flame Tree though - I'll have to test them next time to see if they stand up to my standards!

Mmm, your meal looks great! I've actually never had ribs before... ever. I might have to give them a try!

The Mad Hatter mugs are SO CUTE! Ahhh. I'm a bit obsessed with mugs.

Hahah, I like little traditions like 'the pasta face.' Too cute. :goodvibes

Thank you so much for sharing your wedding and Disneymoon! I have smiled so many times reading your wonderful story!

Lol about the cute mugs! They are my go-to souvenir for almost everything... I'm packing up my apartment to move to a different apartment and realized how many mugs I actually have... Something like 2 boxes full!

Oh my gosh, it's been so long since I have logged on that I couldn't even remember where I had left off. I think it was around your Sanaa meal? I don't know, so forget about your fun games. So behind.

Anyways, I am all caught up now. I just have to say......those ribs look so good. I have always been a fan of Flame Tree but I don't think I ever got the ribs or the onion rings. I have been loving ribs on the grill this summer, and have been fighting dd for them all the time. She also has a love of ribs. Must try that next time.

I've never eaten at Flame Tree, but it always looks delicious. That also seems like a pretty good value for all that food!

Sorry that the onion rings disappointed, but luckily the ribs didn't!

It's definitely a great value! Even though the ribs cost more than the regular hamburger or chicken nuggets at any other counter service, it's really more worth it, I think! Definitely nice to have variety. We don't eat ribs as often, so it's a nice treat! Even with rings that weren't AS good as they were in April, I think it was still worth the extra money for a yummy side!

My husband's must-have souvenir is a coffee mug. Those are so cute! What is the name of that shop?

Coffee mugs are the greatest! I should take a picture of all the mugs Howard and I have. It's funny because we even bought some that we didn't use until we were married, so we just had them in storage!

I think the name of the shop was Beastly Bazaar, which from what I remember, is changed or closed?

Yay an update!! I gave up on the games because I'm not very good :rotfl2: I like the pasta picture, its a cute idea. I love onion rings, but they have to be done correctly. I know exactly what you mean. I haven't tried the ones at Flame Tree though - I'll have to test them next time to see if they stand up to my standards!

Haha, well maybe you can try a game that's a "message only" game because it's not a race against others to get the answer in first.

I have a bunch of pictures going up these steps in the China pavilion, but we haven't done it the past few times since we didn't explore World Showcase. I like those too! It's funny to see how much we change even if it's just a haircut or weight gain, haha. The pasta one is a little easier to do since we don't have to be in a certain location to get it.

I'm curious to know if those rings would live up to your expectations! I've had a LOT of bad rings in the past, which is why I crave them so much because I can't find places that make them the right way. I'm going to attempt baked panko onion rings soon even though it's not in the same category as the Flame Tree type, but at least it might be a different type to tide us over until we go back!

:goodvibes

Wait, you've never had ribs EVER?!? Um, that needs to be changed!

Aren't they the cutest?! Disney is just going to keep coming up with clever mugs to buy (or in my case, photograph since we have no room!).

I should find all the pictures one day and line them all up, haha.

Thank you so much for sharing your wedding and Disneymoon! I have smiled so many times reading your wonderful story!

You're welcome! I'm so glad that you're enjoying my recaps!

Lol about the cute mugs! They are my go-to souvenir for almost everything... I'm packing up my apartment to move to a different apartment and realized how many mugs I actually have... Something like 2 boxes full!

Seriously, they're the perfect souvenir because they're practical! There's no way that you can NOT smile when using a Disney mug. Haha, 2 boxes is a TON of mugs!!! Howard and I see Disney mugs all the time we like, but we have to refrain from buying them. If we had the space, we definitely would have more!

Haha, you weren't too far behind because I hadn't updated much since the Sanaa meal!

YUM, I wish we had the option of making ribs on the grill! We're on the 9th floor, haha, so no backyard or opportunity for a grill. I think I'll attempt ribs in the slow cooker at one point though! I can imagine your munchkin lovin' ribs! Serious eats!

So the ribs look delicious! I've never eaten there, but it's on my list now! Honestly, it seems like always eat at the same places in Dis... and mostly it's a at little carts or bakeries... I don't know that I've ever had a meal anywhere besides the Yak & Yeti cafe in AK. I'm terrible... we never spend much time at AK though.. we usually do EE and Dino and maybe a show and ITTBAB and then we leave... I've only done the safari once. Granted, I've only been down there twice since that park has been open.

Flame Tree is on my must-do list for next visit so I'm glad to hear you loved your food. Here in Texas BBQ is done dry-rub like the ribs you got. You get your sauce on the side and you can dip your meat in the sauce (if you want). Not sure why I want to eat at Flame Tree so badly since I can get fantastic BBQ at home :confused3 I think it's because it's not basic theme park food, I always like the places that have "different" stuff!
