Is it gone from all cruises or just this itinerary. I always enjoyed it and really missed it.
Why? Cutbacks? Seems every time I turn around, more things are missing.
Anyone have any details on why?
We just went on our first Disney cruise in July NYC to Canada.
I guess what you are talking about is different, but there was a buffet on Pirate Night. I scooted over to take pictures of the desserts before it opened and it was beautiful. We then waited until toward the end and had a few things. My daughter liked the little dessert cups (not sure what they were!) and the truffles in a clear plastic spoon!
It was very crowded and I wouldn't have waited in line for it....just too crazy!
There was a hot buffet as well with those crazy huge turkey legs (I'm in the minority, I guess...I can't stand to look at them!) as well as a crepe station, taco bar etc. Again, we waited until the end, so no line...really just more to check it out. We did like the make your own crepes and tacos.
So, whatever it was, they had it on the Magic but I wouldn't actually wait for it because it was crowded and cold (Canadian air at sea!!)
One thing to know...my mom went back to the room to watch the fireworks from our verandah.....I called room service explaining she was in the room because she was too cold and would they bring her a nice dessert.
I wasnt' sure what they would bring so I brought her a few things back from the buffet.
When we got to the room, they had brought her a large selection of what was at the buffet...nicer than what I had managed to bring!
And more than she needed to eat!
So, we all enjoyed yet another little treat!
I was impressed that they had extra and would bring it to her as I wasn't really specific when I called!
They had the desert buffet on our NYC-Bahamas cruise Jul28-Aug5. It was right after the fireworks in Topsiders. There was a huge line. I went to my room to change my shoes. (I had heels on from dinner and wanted to be comfortable for the rest of the night.) I changed my shoes in the room and then went back to the buffet and it was CLOSED! I missed it! It was only open for 10 minutes!

I think the biggest problem is that it wasn't really advertised. It was just listed under the evening snack section in tiny print. If they put it on the front page, or made an announcement during the show, more people would go.
To be honest, I always found the desserts very bland. They looked beautiful, and I took lots of photos, but they all tasted the same.
All the same, I feel disappointed that its gone.
We hardly ever attended because we didn't really like the desserts served. I don't need marshmallows and a chocolate fountain.
We went to dessert buffet on one of our early DCL cruises and were fairly disgusted with the way people were acting. The guy in front of me filled three plates. And when I say "filled" I mean exactly that. He took so many little slices of cheesecake that he basically re-built an entire cheesecake on his plate, then stacked another plate on top of that filled with bon bons and little chocolate bits. Then he drug his poor 8-year-old through the line behind him and had him hold a third plate, which he also filled to overflowing.
And all of this was sometime after 11pm or midnight. Seriously, what are you going to do with all that food that late at night? God knows I can destroy a dessert with the best of them, but when you disgust ME, you've definitely gone a step too far.
I don't need marshmallows and a chocolate fountain.
