From what I read, it's enforced. Since it's a safety issue, the liability problems that could ensue if it wasn't enforced and something were to happen is just something DCL doesn't want to deal with.

I don't remember off hand what the actual numbers are, but ODD was tall enough to ride with an adult, but not to ride alone. They have someone at the entrance before the stairs that measures them and puts one of 2 colored bracelets on them, to tell the ride operator upstairs whether they can ride with someone or alone. It is just the paper type sticky end bracelet like you get at carnivals and they can cut it off and get a new one whenever.

Children under 7 must ride with someone 14 years of age or older, provided the child is at least 42" tall.

42" and it is STRICTLY enforced.

DD was 41.5" in June on the Fantasy and was turned away. Bare feet is the difference because she's been riding the rides at WDW that have the 42" height restriction since the winter.

Luckily, she's now 42" and can ride in Dec!!!

They are very strict with the measurements- no water shoes, flip flops allowed for measuring- my 6 yr. Old will finally make it in sept.

As PP said, safety is the key issue here. You may not wear sunglasses, a hat, flip flops, bring a camera, etc... on the Aquaduck...Now if they could only make the steps out of a different material since the metal is scalding hot unless you are wearing watershoes! At least rubber treads or something else! JMHO!

Ok so my daughter for sure is at least 42" and she will be 7 1/2 at time of boarding. She has to ride with someone? That kinda stinks because its just gonna be me and her. I doubt she will hit 54" by Next june.

Last week ds10 and I were riding the duck around 10pm, a dad and his under the limit son slipped under the webbing and went on up the stairs. The CM at the top asked about the child's lack of wristband. Dad said, 'oh, sure... they let us through...' CM appeared to be thinking it over, but let them ride after admonishing him for his lack of wristband. After they were in the tube, he was on the walkie talkie to the CM below. Probably to have him keep an eye out for the dynamic duo.
