I've seen lots of posts, as well as suggestions from other sites, that suggest one member of your party go get fastpasses while the other members go get in line for a ride, with the idea that the fastpass retriever will then join the others in line. Do you think this is okay? Or do you consider it cutting?

Personally I think it's okay as long as it's just one person, or maybe an adult and a child. When I see more than one adult (or teen) joining people in line -- not so much.

Please add your vote to the poll below.

Thanks!

EDITED TO ADD: I've seen a of posts with people saying they want to vote "it depends," and then going on to say it depends how many people, what the reason was, etc. I didn't add that option because I'm asking a specific question: Is it okay if it's only one adult (and maybe one child) joining a group? Please vote accordingly -- if you think it's okay for one adult but not for a whole group of people, your vote would still be yes! Because the question only pertains to ONE ADULT (with or without one child). Thanks for all the responses!!!

I'm cool with one person, with or without child. Any more and I start getting the crazed, angry, Clint "Get Off My Lawn" Eastwood eyes.

I don't see the poll, but no, I don't like this practice. I don't necessarily dislike it because I think it's cutting, it's just not fun in some of those tight FL queues to have people passing by.

However, if it was a child potty situation, I wouldn't mind.

Either way, sometimes you can't really tell unless the are openly talking about it, so I never say anything. People are going to do what they want to do, so why sit and argue.

I think we need a third option on the poll. Something along the lines of "it depends"

No. I do not think it's okay, I don't care what the situation is, it's wrong. You can't excuse one type of cutting and not be okay with another. Cutting is cutting.

I am totally ok with it(one adult or one adult and child). Having said that, I don't think I would be too comfortable doing it myself.

if it one adult or one adult with a kid or two...I am ok...There have been times when I have been in line and suddenly have to go to the restroom - my family stays in line while I go and then I get back in.

However that being said if there are a bunch of teenagers and they talk about how easy it is to say that you have friends up ahead...then I would say no...but who is to say...

I am there for magic and I try not to let things like that bother me so much.

Me being a dad of a 2 year old little girl, I have more respect for other dad's at Disneyland. Usually my wife will take my daughter and go get in line while I go and park the stroller. Then I come up to the line and squeeze through everyone until I catch back up to my girls. So I have respect for other dad's seeing them doing the same thing. But when it's a family of like 6 and one person was holding a spot for all of them, then I start to get annoyed. Go Disneyland dad's!!!! :thumbsup2

I also agree one adult with or without a child (or two) younge enought to need an adult take them to the bathroom/change a diaper fine, when its groups of people I don't like it and wish the CM's would do something

count me in on the "it depends" position. And for me it depends on intent, not quantity. I think it's bad form to send one person to line sit for others for the purpose of line sitting. But if it couldn't be avoided, by all means. But I usually don't trip. Even if I think someone is legitimately cutting. Disneyland for me means being happy. Causing a scene is the opposite of that.

This.

The theory that I've come up with is...if it doesn't affect how long I wait, go ahead and cut in front of me. It becomes a problem when your cutting makes me wait longer.

For example, if a family of 4 has 3 people wait in line for Toy Story and the 4th joins them later, that doesn't affect my wait time at all because I would not be filling that empty seat if the 4th person hadn't have joined. But if 1 person waits and 3 people join, it could or could not affect my wait time depending on my party size.

So by my personal rule, 1 person running to get a FP rarely makes a difference. :confused3

I don't have a problem with one or two people joining a group already in line.

I do get ticked off when what starts out as a group of 2 or 3 ends up being several times that by the time the ride loads.

We had it happen on TSMM not long ago. Dad and son ran ahead, and I do mean ran, and darted in front of us just as we were entering the line. Rude, but not a huge deal. Except their group of 2 ended up being 9 total. They came gradually too. The last couple of people only waited in the 45 minute line 10 minutes at most. This was a large family group. Edit: this was a large, inconsiderate family group.

I thought about that, but I was mainly thinking from the point of view of being the person behind whoever is joining a group. Chances are you wouldn't know WHY they were joining, would only see someone going in front of you. So that's why I specified ONE adult. Any more than that, I think most people would consider it cutting.

I'm with the above posters in the "it depends" category. One adult, okay. An adult and a small child, sure. One person returning with drinks or churros for the group--maybe. More than one adult? Nope. Wait in the line like everyone else. I always feel horribly guilty when I do this even though I usually have legit reasons (I have a 3yo and "potty" means "potty NOW") but it seems like some parties were clearly off enjoying another attraction or whatever, and that does irritate me.

I hate when someone does it.
I silently throw the worst curses to people doing it, so if you are superstitious don't do it while I'm in line!

Just joking about the curses, but I really hate it.

^^^^^ this !!! Great job on painting a picture lol

It doesn't bother me. We are at Disney, after all!

If an entire tour group of 20 people joined the one person in line holding a place, yeah, I would roll my eyes and think that's excessive.

But a family? Nah....there's so many reasons why the group could have split up and in the end, even if a 10 person family joins the line, it's not *really* going to push my ride out that far, is it? I would hate to give a family a hard time for wanting to ride something together.

I avoid it, but ultimately being in line for 2 hours.. especially children we have to use the bathroom! If you don't you are probably dehydrated..

as for fastpasses? We rarely use them.. :) we're either had great luck -or- just haven't bothered because half of the party is so little.. or was

If you've been the park once you've seen this happen but I try not to let it ruin my day. Nevertheless if this was the latest ride like at Cars Land and I see multiple people joining another party in line I would be a little upset but what would you do?
