Ginger & Tim 10-30-12 CC/SCP; Update--1/2:TR Day 1: Checking into the CS

Thanks so much, Tricia!! :goodvibes
DCL is very reasonable for it's wedding packages. The only trade-offs are your guests have to pay for a cruise and your ability to customize the wedding is limited. Our guests were going to have to travel anyways, so we figured why not have more time together and go on a cruise :)

I absolutely adored your wedding, so I think you made a great choice! It was gorgeous!! Your wedding has been quite inspiration for me, and I think I may steal your parasol idea for the bridesmaids if that's ok ;)

I appreciate your compliments about the flowers! I'm really excited to see them! I think they won't be completed until October though, so I've still got a while to go.

My big dilemma now is Bridesmaid dresses... it's hard to find cute bridesmaid dresses in the blue I wanted. There's lots of navy and aqua, but a true light blue is hard to find. My sister and I are working on sorting that out at the moment. I love planning for the wedding, but it can sometimes create so much stress about the tinniest of things

You're so sweet, thank you! From the looks of it your wedding is going to be gorgeous! All of our guests traveled too and I know they loved WDW, but you're really giving them the best of both worlds, lucky! :goodvibes

I really loved the parasols, they kind of brought everything together. Steal away!! I got the girls' parasols from Luna Bazaar. I got the guest ones from Oriental Trading, I could tell puting the two next to each other the LB ones were nicer, but obvi the OT ones were less and got the job done!

Have you requested fabric samples maybe? Try Bari Jay, Watters, J. Crew, Ann Taylor?

The invitations came out amazing!! The liners look great too!! Have you sent them out or theyre just ready to go at this point? yippeee! :woohoo:

Well, I'm lucky in terms of bridesmaid dresses because... I only have one!!! haha! I have more friends coming along, as well as sisters in law, but with such a small wedding group, it seems like it would imbalance my wedding guests! I do have to go re-dress-shopping, though. I found a cute one-shouldered royal blue dress with black mesh over it and black glitter floral on the mesh (Bought it on clearance for $10) but it's pretty short and seems more like a prom dress... we're in our mid-20's, we don't need to go back to high school! Luckily, my MOH is going to Chicago with me for my bridal shower and dress fittings (she needs to learn how to lace up my corset!) so while we're together, we'll look for another dress. Best of luck with your dress search!!! I know it's a tricky decision, but you'll figure it out!! :goodvibes

One bridesmaid is good!! I was originally only going to have my sister as my maid of honor, but when I found out that my best friend from college was also going to be able to make it, one became two! I feel the same way about having a small bridal party with a small wedding.
I like the idea of having bridesmaids wear different dresses, which will come in handy due to the different body types of each bridesmaid (my friend is petite and pregnant and my sister is tall with an hour-glass figure). The challenge is just finding different blue dresses that look good on each bridesmaid, but coordinate somewhat also. I know it'll get figured out eventually though :goodvibes Sounds like you and your friend will have fun when you're back in Chicago! Dress shopping with girlfriends is always fun!

Thanks for that, Tricia! I'll definitely check out Luna Bazaar for parasols for the BM's!

I haven't requested any fabric samples, but that's a really good suggestion. I've checked out a few of the companies you suggested previously, but I think I'll go back to them tonight and look at getting some samples.

Thank you for the compliments regarding our invites! :goodvibes We're so happy with them. I sent them out on July 16th, so our US guests have already received them, but the Aussie guests haven't yet. Our RSVP date is Aug 10th, so cross your fingers our guests will be amazing and send them back in a timely manner (most likely not though,). It'll be exciting to start to hear from people though!

Our wedding bags arrived today! :woohoo:

welcomebag.jpg

They were a weekly special from the Wedding Chicks Shop (http://shop.weddingchicks.com/): 20 cotton-canvas tote bags for $100. We were able to select our colors for the font as well as include our names, wedding date, & place we were getting married. If you're in the market for tote bags, they offer a bunch of different designs (a varying portion of which are put on special each week), send you a digital proof before printing, and are pretty speedy. I'm very happy with the quality, and looking forward to coming up with all sorts of fun things to fill them with :goodvibes

Ginger! I'm having major bag-envy! They're gorgeous! So put together! I'm starting to feel like mine look like a little like a childrens arts and crafts project! I looked through that site and found a couple that I loved- too bad I can't go back in time and get those instead- it probably would've been cheaper in the end! *sighs* I think I'm in the stage where I'm starting to question things, no matter how pointless those thoughts are now! Keep us posted with the goodies you put inside of the bags! You know that always peaks my interest!

Love the bags!! We got ours from Wedding Chicks too and I loved them!! I got a coupon today for 25% off the site actually! :goodvibes I still want more after the fact! hahaha

Thanks, Jillian! :goodvibes They're a bit more of a classically romantic design than I had initially envisioned for welcome bags, but as I looked at other options they grew on me. Now that I've seen them in person, I'm really happy with the bags.

What are you talking about?! Your bags are fabulous! The design is perfect, and I'm sure the finished product will look amazing! And it means a lot more because you have made them yourself! You'll be able to say that most (if not all--can't recall the exact contents of your bags at the moment) of welcome bag goodies at DIY. That's awesome! :yay:

Yeah, I've been a long time admirer of their shop :) They just have a bunch of really pretty things, so I can see how it might be tempting to go shopping again, hehe. Which bag design did you use again, Tricia? I'm sure I came across it in your PJ at some point, but it's just slipped my brain at the moment. What all did you put in your bags?

I love your wedding invites ! They are beautiful!
And I adore those wedding totes just gorgeous! I only recently stumbled across that website and I have fallen in love with them, and now seeing yours I think we will get ours from them as well!
Cant wait to hear what you fill them with :)

LOL! Ginger, I checked out the site and bought the mustache groom shirt for DF.

Everything is looking really good for your wedding plans and you know I will get those photos up asap. After the honeymoon though, LOL!

Thanks so much, Jess!! :goodvibes So great to hear that you like the invitations and tote bags! Yeah, the Weddings Chick Shop is amazing!! They just have so many lovely designs for tote bags--especially if you tend to be a bit vintage inclined in your taste. Which bag(s) are you leaning toward?? Very excited to see what you select!!

Question, Jess... Do you have any suggestions as to something cute from Australia that I could include in the Welcome Bags? My FMIL has offered to purchase something for me and bring it over, but I'm having trouble thinking of something. Thanks!!

Hi Kelly! :goodvibes Haha, awesome! Love the moustache shirt! Bet it'll look great on your DF. I love that site. They have a number of really cute designs. Now that I've purchased our tote bags I've been trying to stay away from it, so I'm not tempted to buy anything else :)

I've purchased a couple things for the welcome bags, but I want to wait until they arrive and I can post photos before I reveal ;)

Hello there,
What about tiny jars of vegemite? Or sometimes you can get individual wrapped timtams! Or something else that you loved to eat in Australia?
I think alot of fresh stuff like anzac biscuits & that sort of thing may have trouble leaving the country.
If your looking for non-food things then maybe like little koalas holding an aussie flag, i got some from like dollar/cheap shop for when we put tip envelopes out for house keeping when we travel to usa.

Good luck! Let me know if you want some more help :)

Thanks, Jess! Those are good ideas! I've also emailed Timmy's mum asking if she has any suggestions--I was hoping for something that was a bit more representative of the area he's from, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see on that... Really appreciate your suggestions though! :goodvibes

Okey Dokey, some progress has finally been made on the wedding attire front!! :cool1:

My sister (MOH) and I travelled to a Bridesmaid Dress Salon in Birmingham this past weekend, and fell for the first dress she tried on! Yay!! Unfortunately, the dress was ridiculously small, so we didn't take any photos :sad1: But on the bright side, even in the too small size, the dress really flattered her well.

Designer: Pretty Maids
Style: 22389
Color: Cornflower Blue

The dress is pretty simple--short A-line chiffon dress with an asymmetrical neckline, but just seems to hit in all the right places on my sister. We ordered the dress in a cornflower blue color, and I cannot wait to see the final product on her in September! As luck would have it, we stopped by Macy's on the way home, and found a pair of white flat sandals on sale that had a similar detail on the strap as the floral neckline of the dress. Brilliant!!! :yay:

My bridesmaid, Erin, is my best friend from college, and expecting a baby next year. She went to David's Bridal, and selected this little number:

Designer: David's Bridal
Style: F12284
Color: Horizon

Although both dresses are chiffon, they are quite different from each other. I really like the idea of each girl having their own unique look, and am excited to see to see what the dresses look like together :)

In other news, I've been mad shopping this week... more supplies for the welcome bags, shoes for my dress, suit for the groom, etc. I'll be sure to post some photos in my next update when they arrive.
Hope everyone is having a good week! :goodvibes

I found a dress to wear to the Welcome Party!! I was just casually looking at dresses online, when I happened upon this dress from David's Bridal that I thought was really pretty.

Designer: David's Bridal

Fabric: Taffeta

I love it!! The dress is comfortable, fun, and has pockets!!! :) It's a tad big, so I may have to get it altered after I find a good strapless bra to wear with it, but otherwise I'm really happy with the fit. I'll just have to find a cute pair of heels to wear with it, hehe.

Love Love Love your DP Dress! Also love your bridal party dresses! I always loved the look of chiffon- it's so flowy and perfect for a cruise wedding! I can't wait to see more pictures of everything that you've been shopping for! As always, I can't wait to see and read more about your planning process!

Hello! Just now joining in here :goodvibes

That dress!! It is so not fair how you look EVEN BETTER in it than the model on the official page. I saw it on you and wondered how much it was (I am fond of the idea of wearing pretty white dresses for most of the days of our honeymoon) --- On the model I wasn't sold on it. I like your photo so much better. I honestly think you look perfect in it! :cool1:

Thanks so much, Jillian!! :goodvibes I'm very psyched about my DP Dress! It's super different from my bridal gown in a good way (much more comfortable--I love the look of my trumpet gown, but it's not exactly something you want to lounge around in :rotfl:), and I'm looking forward to wearing it around the GF.

Glad to hear you like the MOH & BM dresses! :) I agree with you about the chiffon; it's nice and airy/beachy. It's difficult to get a sense of how the two dresses will look together from the two photos, but hopefully they coordinate well. I just found out today that my BM will be only 1 week under the cut off for pregnant ladies to cruise! Talk about close!

Hi Alison!! :goodvibes Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and generous compliments! They absolutely made my day! The dress really is lovely, and I encourage you to try it on if you're looking for a comfy, pretty cocktail dress. I bet it would look fantastic on you also!!

I'm headed over to your PJ now to read about your plans. The castle!!! Wow!! That will be such an incredible wedding! :)

Hey Ginger! Getting close! I know the excitement all too well!

I saw on Alison and Katie's page that you said you and Timmy were having a hard time with picking your music. DH and I had the same problem. We originally didn't want all Disney songs, but decided to stick to their list to keep from having to get a cd to them. We were really unsure of how the songs would sound on piano (sounded great btw) so we went on YouTube and just typed in "(song name) piano" to get a feel for how it might sound. We wrote down how we wanted the order on the sheet Shanda sent and then reviewed the order. I think we changed the order 3 times before finalizing it!

Honestly, I hardly remember the music at all. If we didn't have the wedding recorded I wouldn't know about anything that happened that morning, let alone how the music sounded! And during the reception, the only music I remember is our first dance and the music as we left!

I think our list was something like:
Parents/seating- A Dream is a Wish
Prelude- Someday my Prince Will Come
MOH- Part of Your World (Little Mermaid was my sister's favorite movie as a kid!)
Processional- Bridal March (kept it traditional)
Recessional- Kiss the Girl
First dance- All I Ask of You
Cake cutting- Unforgettable
The rest- we just threw in some other good songs like the one from Lion King and I can't remember what else... :confused3

Like I said I really don't remember even hearing the music I was so focused on the people there and being married, etc. The one thing I DO remember about the music was my mom said she wouldn't pay for the wedding if we had Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah in the wedding music! :rotfl:

I don't know if this helped, I hope so...

Hi there!! Sorry, I've been slacking!! :cool2:
I had the "Love, Laughter & Happily Ever After" design for my bags :) I loved them! We gave guests gum, chips, water, candy, hand sanitizer, door hangers, welcome letters, I forget what else! :)

I LOVE your DP dress! I wish it was around for my wedding! I might get it anyway just for fun! Hoping to do a anniversary shoot next year (if it still fits then lol) but it does look super cute on you!!

Love the chiffon dresses for the girls too and my bm's had that little shoulder of flowers as well! I thought they really flattered the girls, perfect for beachy-ness :goodvibes

I'll try to come back more often! :cheer2:

Hi Meaghan!
Thanks so much for your help! Tim and I really want to use non-Disney songs (more so DF than myself), and so we found the CD part of it to be really challenging. I think I may have mentioned this on the DCL thread, but I watched a youtube video of a ceremony that used CD music, and they would cut off the songs once the person had made it down the aisle. Since the CC aisle is quite short, only short snippets of the music were played and it sounded quite fragmented. DF and I are currently discussing our options with this... We may choose to use the pianist for all the ceremony music, and then have some CD songs played at the reception or I'm toying with the idea of trying to shorten or merge tracks to fix the ceremony. I've just downloaded a software to do that, so we'll see what we decide to do after playing with that for a couple of hours. Probably will end up with a very frustrated bride, haha. I don't have a problem with using the pianst--it's just the selection that he or she plays are so traditional, and I was kinda wanting to do something unusual with the music. I will take your advice and youtube the selections on piano though, before I make a decision. Really good idea! :)

You had a great selection of music! Part of Your World would have been so pretty on the piano, I bet :cloud9: Could you give me a bit of an idea about how your processional went?? Did you have the mothers escorted in by ushers? Did your husband and the groomsmen walk down the aisle or were they already standing at the alter? When do you arrive in the golf cart? Are the guests already seated?

Thanks so much, Meaghan!! You're great, and I appreciate all your help! :goodvibes

Hi Tricia!!
No worries! I've been terrible about posting on the DIS lately too. Jillian's done a ton of stuff on her PJ that I haven't had a chance to comment on yet (got to do that today), so I totally understand.

I knew you used Wedding Chicks for your bags. Before I decided on the vendor for my welcome bags, I came across the ones on Wedding Chicks, but hadn't seen any brides using them. Once I came across your PJ and saw that you were happy with them, I was sold and ordered them right away :)

Glad to hear you like the DP dress! :goodvibes It's a fun dress! I've just got to find a strapless bra to go with it now. My current strapless bras are terrible to fall down/sink, so I think I need to upgrade. I think I'm done with Victoria's Secret. I saw a post on the DISBrides facebook page talking about recommendations for strapless bras, so I think I'm going to try a Wacoal one. As for my wedding dress, I think I'm going to take your advice (I think it was your advice), and get cups sewn into it.

You should totally try on the dress! It's very flattering, and would look really cute for an event or an anniversary shoot! What a great idea about the anniversary shoot! Would you do it in WDW?

Your wedding also helped me with the BM dresses. I was inclined toward that style from looking at Bridal magazines, but once I saw how awesome it looked in your wedding, I showed it to my sister and she loved it. You had so many great ideas in your wedding!

The wedding hangers arrived! :goodvibes Yay!! I purchased one for my bridal gown, and then two as gifts for my BM's. I am so thrilled with them! Erica does gorgeous font (I especially love that she includes a wedding date charm), her prices are really reasonable, and she's a gem to work with. She even added a little Mickey head on the arm for me ::MickeyMo
